Weekend Trip to Colorado RiverBend Retreat #CRBR

On The River Camping was such a perfect get away for my spouse and our closest friends. Despite lots of rain on Friday evening, the site dried out extremely well and made for an excellent weekend spot to just hang out, fish, kayak, and laze around while the kids were at their grandparents house! In addition to the awesome spot, Bridget went above and beyond on so many occasions. When our truck got stuck near by (not on her property), Bridget offered to inlist family to assist. She then was super flexible because of the rain and offered so many accommodations since Friday night got a little wonky for us! Finally, Hipcamp made a few billing errors, and Bridget spent a good amount of time emailing with customer service, while staying in contact with me the whole time, to make it right and make sure we didnt get overcharged (by Hipcamp) for the stay! 11/10 would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Stunning Dome Retreat w/Hot Tub

This was our first time using HipCamp, and what an incredible experience! Zvi and Thunder (the resident longhorn on site) were extremely responsive hosts and made sure we had everything that we needed for the duration of our stay. The geodesic dome was beautifully decorated with a sophisticated touch, impeccably clean, and incredibly comfortable. The location was private and peaceful—a perfect getaway from the city. We loved how secluded it felt despite being a short 20 minute drive from Bastrop. One of our favorite parts was waking up to a beautiful sunrise, with the option to open the curtains and let the morning light pour in. At night, the views of the sky were absolutely stunning—perfect for stargazing and soaking in the beauty of the quiet countryside. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind and recharge.

Lovely, peaceful campsite near the Colorado River, with plenty of room to spread out. We got lucky—we were the only ones camping so had the place to ourselves all weekend. Bridget was a fantastic and welcoming host, immediately responding to all of our questions and requests. Electric hookup at site and communal bathhouse and dish washing area were great amenities. We loved our time here and will definitely return!

2 nights at Colorado RiverBend Retreat #CRBR

This is the perfect country retreat along the Colorado River! We stayed in the fancy river shack and the accommodations were absolutely amazing. The 1st night I used the outdoor grill which was perfect along with a fire pit evening. The host delivered two bundles of firewood immediately upon request at $10 a bundle. The second night was too windy for a fire but it was still great. The River Shack is just a short walk down to the river bank and there are two tent and camping sites close to the shore with their own amenities. All sites are peacefully and perfectly placed to provide a woodsy country private and tranquil get away feel. The River Shack itself is so attractive and the kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom are perfect and modern, and can be compartmentalized with sliding doors. Three flat-screen TVs across the jacuzzi room, living room, and bedroom were great, along with a desk area for your laptop with wifi. Last and of course, the jacuzzi room lets you know you are "Glamping" in ultimate style and country grace! I literally watched the morning news with coffee in the jacuzzi! Why not! With nature watching I saw 10 deer total throughout my stay and a Cow! My Lady and family will return one day and get some fishing done!

The area to camp was amazing, very diverse of options for cook, chill, and camp. Very unique. Matt's and Gina were very attentive and available for any needs.

Loved the outdoor shower with hot water. We purchased from Jennifer eggs from her chickens and they were delicious! Our dog loved the field and exploring. We were successful in cooking our food on the fire pit.

One of the best out there. Bridget was fast to respond and really cares about the guest experience. She went above and beyond a few times unprompted. The sites were great and spaced well apart. Easy drive from Austin. Kayaks available for rent and we took them out to go fishing. Beautiful land that is well taken care of. Plenty of details that show that the property owners care - from the fire pits to the showers to the layout of the sites - all very well thought out. Our family had a wonderful time. One note - you can hear the train horns at night, which kept us up the first night. They didn’t seem to bother us as much the second night. Bring earbuds if you’re sensitive to that. We’ll be back. Thanks again!

Our family loved the privacy, creek, pizza oven area and large stones around the firepit. The cows were so cute and the family was helpful in bringing some extra firewood for us. We definitely look forward to coming back again! There is a bit of a slope down to the creek but the rope to climb back up was especially helpful for our son.

Really beautiful site. The river was great for fishing and paddle boarding. The kids had a blast. The bath house was clean and convenient. Bridget was responsive and helpful. The only small negative was noise at night (train, dogs barking); it isn’t terrible but detracts from the beautiful birds in the morning.

The Magnolia is a great place to escape from the city. Some of the wildlife you may see or hear are cows, squirrels, rabbits, owls, coyotes and our free range chickens. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Inquire ahead of time to see if firewood is available to be gathered on site, or if you will need to bring your own. Matt grew up here swimming, fishing and exploring in this creek...the creek has taught him more about life than anyone ever could. I hope that you too can understand why we always walk alway feeling like this is a very special spot! This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or stay in cozy cabin with accommodations like home, including wifi and tv. Private pond with firepit near Lake Somerville. Enjoy fishing and hiking within walking distance of camp and Birch Creek State Park. Launch boats in park. The fishing is excellent! Relax, you are at the lake! Enjoy your stay. NOTE: Pond on property relies on Mother Nature; No rain means low or no water. Texas has been under extreme drought. Pray for rain! Good news! Next door is Lake Somerville - Birch Creek State Park which offers great walking trails, fishing and swimming holes. Stop at Ranger Station for maps.
