We had a really good time. The directions are very clear and it was easy to find the place. Melanie greeted us upon arrival and checked on us quite regularly along with her husband. She brought us fresh eggs, honey, rosemary and onions that we cooked with during pur stay. The kids enjoyed the goats and dogs and all the other animals there. We tent camped alongside my parents RV and had plenty of space. The tank had fish too that was fun as well. Would definitely recommend to all my friends and family.

Absolutely lovely! This family is the definition of hospitality! They go out of their way to make your stay special. I realized we did not have enough firewood, and this sweet family hand delivered some logs to our campsite! Gorgeous and peaceful property. The camp sites are spread out, even though other campers were there, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. My kids asked if we could come back every year, now we have a new family tradition! Some very special lifelong family memories were made during our stay!

This is my first time camping (site 6) and this place absolutely has made me want to do camping much more frequently. This site provided a blend of cozying up in the wood but still has a nice and open area. The view and nature are beautiful but still has the convenience of the restroom of your home. The lake was nice to do some rowing despite the hot days of Texas.

Site 19 was such a great spot. Walking distance to the lake where you can fish, boating and swimming. It has so much room for you and family. I loved the area and great shading that allows wind and great campfire scenery. We ended our stay with some bird watching and caught some Cardinals and Blue Jays

4 nights at Cummins Cozy Corral

Jeanna and Kris are good hosts, have sites with level concrete pads, hookups easily accessible to the trailer, free laundry in a shed between two of the pads, and the sites are surrounded by greenery. Jeanna made sure of connecting with us, ready to answer questions along with giving info on the surrounding area for dining, etc. It has been a great base for our time as we had business in College Station and family to visit in Houston. We would have to pay at least double for the same site/service back home in New York state.

Absolutely beautiful property. The campsite we stayed at for the weekend was exactly how it was described online- we loved it!! Plenty of fantastic hiking trails and a little late to go for a swim or take one of the canoes out in. Definitely come back!!

This is a wonderful place to stay! Jeanna and her husband were warm and welcoming from the moment of my arrival. Jeanna’s husband helped me get set up and made sure I had everything I needed. Jeanna became my contact throughout my stay, making sure I was satisfied with everything. It’s a very pretty spot with lots of trees and chickens roaming the property. As a single female camper, I need to be aware of my surroundings. I felt very safe at the fenced and gated, rural Cummins’ Corral. One of the nicest amenities (besides your host and hostess) is the free laundry they provide! I live in my RV full-time and as a Thousand Trails member, I am in need of a place to stay one week out of every month. With the pleasant atmosphere, the lovely hosts, the safe environment, and the great rates, I definitely consider Cummins’ Corral my new monthly go-to!

We searched and searched looked at a lot of properties North of the Woodlands, to build our home. On a Saturday morning, my husband told me about a dream of 3 very tall and Magnificent Trees, soaring way up in the sky. A few days later we were walking through the forest looking at a 20 acre tract of land for sale with our realtor, I'm thinking, "oh how would we ever get this cleared, this is a lot of work" Then, up ahead was a clearing and right in the middle were 3 of the tallest, most magnificent Cedar trees. They were perfectly planted standing side by side. We both looked at each other and said," Oh this must be it". The rest is history. Established in 1877 by the Nelius Family, the ranch began as a cotton and cattle farming operation, utilizing horses in the fields until 1948. In the 1950s, Trenckmann Nelius diversified the ranch by introducing chicken and egg production, while still raising cattle and growing maize to feed the chickens. In 1973, Trenckmann and Margie Nelius transformed their vision into reality by founding Coushatte Recreation Ranch, initially offering just 24 campsites. Over the years, the campground has expanded significantly to accommodate 225 sites, complete with full hookups for both 30 and 50 amp service. The campground's name pays homage to the Coushatte Indians, and visitors can explore an Indian Mound on the property, where numerous arrowheads have been discovered. After many years of dedicated management, Trenckmann and Margie passed the torch to their son Howard and his wife Pamela, who operated the ranch until November 2019. The campground is now under the ownership of George Jarkesy, who aims to enhance the experience for guests.
