Weekend Trip to Peaceful Haven Cabin

What a cool and artsy place to spend the night! I was just looking for a place to break up a long drive, but I’d love to go back and settle into the property and the area for longer. Helga really makes the most of the space, is a great steward of the land, and is even an advocate for local artists. I was surprised the WiFi was as good as it was, and the available tea and popcorn were so thoughtful. Directions are easy, drive there is beautiful. Highly recommend.

1 night at Baker Hollow Farm in Nashville

My boyfriend and I stayed at the beautiful cabin for 1 night. We arrived late at night but they still welcomed us, showed us how to get to the cabin and how everything works there (outside shower, lights, power etc.). The cabin was very hidden from everything, very quiet, it felt like a real nature retreat. The whole property itself was also absolutely stunning, they have the sweetest animals, honestly they were so andorable and friendly, and you guys were so nice! Thank you again for everything! Btw, the dog and that one lighter brown horse are so cuddly and happy for visitors 😍 we would’ve loved to stay longer but we were on a tight time schedule.

Absolutely amazing! Jimmys hospitality was unmatched! Such a great open area - fun swing for the kids and the low creek was perfect to walk through or relax with some fold out chairs with your feet in the river. The rv was great and has everything you need. Such a beautiful area - well kept and clear pathways and safe crossings from the rv to the fire pit! He’s got a grill plate right on the fire pit perfect for cooking and a nice outdoor cooking area and big table with chairs. We loved it & our kids had the best time. Jimmy and his property were the best! Can’t wait to come back!

2 nights at Sacred Dog Ranch

Beautiful property and friendly hosts. My kids got to name kittens and enjoyed seeing all the livestock. We spent hours roaming around the gardens or in the woods, down to the creek. The cabin is very cool. My wife and I particularly enjoyed sitting on the porch for an afternoon rain storm. Quick drive to Lenny’s Country Kitchen for great food.

It is a beautiful property with a lot to see. We weren't able to explore with Jimmy this trip, but would if we had the opportunity. We slept to the sound of the water next to us flowing and the frogs croaking.. and not to be forgotten...fireflies! Jimmy is very friendly, communicates well with you and will tend to anything you want or need.

Weekend Trip to Beech Hollow Hideout

The cabin has huge windows, so you feel like you are floating in the forest. There were fireflies at night and it was absolutely magical! Plus, I loved cooking on the little woodstove. A tip with the directions: there is a huge sign off Highway 70 that says New Frontiers and that’s where you turn off. It’s right by the Dry Creek Bridge.

1 night at Sacred Dog Ranch

This was such a great experience and I will definitely be back next time I am in the area! Lisa was so welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. I made friends with all the dogs and even got a little cat drool in my lap. The cabin itself was a work of art, literally, and I was spoiled for a place to sleep. If youre into art, this place is a haven. My only regret is that I had to wake up and leave early to beat the rain.

Lisa is super friendly and willing to go out of her way to accommodate you if possible. The cabin my friend and I stayed in was one room with a screened in front porch, it had a bunk bed with full or queen bed on the bottom. There was a mini fridge. No running water but she brought us a gallon of water and a couple cups. There is an outhouse nearby that seemed pretty clean, no smell! She’s working on improving the WiFi signal there. I used my own data. Was able to park right in front of the cabin. Lots of friendly dogs here. Recommend!

Weekend Trip to Beech Hollow Hideout

We loved our three days on William's land. We visited in late April from Wisconsin, looking for green forests and early spring--and this visit provided. Here's our recommendation. The land is deep in a verdant, green hollow. The small "hut" is really a kind of sanctuary. The relationship between the forest and the structure is seamless--at times, being inside feels like being outside. The small items, drawings, and tributes left behind by previous campers created the feeling of connection with everyone else whose names were in the guestbook. It is an ideal location for solitary or partnered forest stay. Hiking, meditation, yoga, outdoor cooking, hiking, cave exploring (!), transcendence of self and ego dissolution, growing branches and literally becoming a tree--William's land would be great for these activities and more. William is helpful, responsive, and kind. His own wood and stone work is beautiful. His friendly pups rule the roost--they visit periodically and enjoy a good campfire. Rocket, a very charming smallish hound, escorted me through the forest during the night--a true companion and very good boy. General advice for hip-campers: no electricity at the hut, no kitchen, and it's a steep hike up. You'll want to limit the number of trips up from your vehicle, so it's helpful to consider what you'll need in advance and packing accordingly. We recommend bringing small indulgences to turn the hut into your own little nest: incense, tea candles, fairy lights etc.

Weekend Trip to Beech Hollow Hideout

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at Beech Hollow and we had the most wonderful time. The property is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed being fully immersed in nature and out of the city for a couple of days. We cooked by the fire and had some wonderful quality time together. We are so appreciative of William! He is wonderfully kind and his dogs make for great camping buddies! the hut itself is easily kept warm on chilly nights by stoking up the wood-burning stove inside. I’d highly recommend this place for someone who needs to reset and connect with nature or connect with your significant other. We made some great memories & meals over the fire. Hiking the property was beautiful, we saw several deer and some turkeys. Williams studio is wonderful as well, he is extremely talented! He gave us directions to Indian Grave Point caves , if you have the time it’s very much worth the trip! My best advice: pack light! Pans, pots, firewood , a coffee pot & water are provided as well as blankets , pillows and a mattress in the loft. I’d recommend bringing bed sheets , food to cook & a couple sets of clothes. Cannot recommend enough if you appreciate the outdoors, it was the perfect weekend & unlike any other vacation we’ve taken before.

WILL BE REVISITING! The hosts are lovely, friendly, interesting people who will treat you like you’re a close friend. I brought my dog with me and she had a great time playing with their 8 dogs on the property, and the screened in porch is a game changer! There are a couple fun farm animals around. The cabin is perfect for a camping/shelter feel, a bed in a comfy decorated studio with windows. nothing too fancy just how we like it! Some of the cabins are still a work in progress so I’m very excited to visit Lisa and Gary in the future :) thankful to have found this and them!

I honestly can't recommend this getaway enough. William the host is the most down to earth person I've ever met. After our stay he was so kind to show us his shop/art studio. I highly recommend seeing it. Their dog Rocket actually stayed a night with us it was really cool he is the best camping buddy I've never had. Just writing this review I wish we could have stayed longer everything about the stay was so amazing. P.S. tho it was amazing I recommend being somewhat in shape. The hike up to the hut is roughly 200 yards however it is strenuous so pack accordingly.

Lionsgate Campground

Enjoy glamping in our optional 2017 19' retro style camper with a bathroom and kitchen or go primitive and set up your tent or hammock by the waterfalls and rough it. 2 sites have electricity. No bathrooms or showers if you're Just 35 minutes west of Loveless Cafe' in Nashville and 20 minutes south of the Dickson exit at I40. The 48 acre campground has just 3 big tent sites for more seclusion and is almost all old forest with wide trails and huge old growth trees. There is about a 1/2 acre of field to park in between the road and the creek if you don't have an off road vehicle. The rest is woods. Mother Nature has a lot to offer when you cross the creek into the first two campsites that are on the 30' creek. One big spring runs through the middle of the 2 sites with small cascading waterfalls. Both sites have string lights and 120V extension cords. These two sites are separated by the driveway and about 150' apart but a bridge connects the two if you have another couple that wants to join you these two spots are perfect for privacy and companionship. Expand the pictures to a full screen as you scroll so the description will show up at the bottom of the picture. Not all pictures are on the property but describe close places to visit as well. FIREWOOD: Split wood is available upon request and sold in the area (if it's available at the time) or any fallen dead wood from the forest is free. $7.00 for a 20" bundle. Please let us know ahead of time or order it on the site. SITE 1: The nicer of the two sites along the creek, has granite counters, a round fire pit with a fold down heavy cooking grate, charcoal grill and a large wrought iron table and chairs. RENT A CAMPER WITH SITE 1 or BRING YOUR PERSONAL CAMPER: Our retro style 2017 option on the other side of the creek with stairs and stones to cross the creek. Sometimes the walking stones get washed out. 30 amp. 240 and 120 volt plugs. Click on additional fees for camper electrical hook up. SITE 2: Also along side the 30' creek. There is a round steel fire pit surrounded with wrought iron chairs, a separate picnic table, granite countertop work space and a small grill. 2 fairly flat areas for tents. Set your chairs in the creek in front of your site. The clear cold water is a great place to relax and cool off or watch crawfish, minnows and salamanders and the occasional blue herron. 120V and string lights. Parking is a little tight unless you're in a Jeep of more off road vehicle that can park up the hill a bit. SITE 3: "Still Hollow" is more private and located right in the middle valley of the property where a different spring fed creek runs down the wooded valley. There is no electricity but you can still enjoy the sound of small cascading waterfalls and a creek that runs along the side of the site for a relaxing sleep. There is a granite countertop, charcoal grill and a fire ring. A small round wrought iron table and 4 chairs are there for a place to eat lunch. The old moonshine barrels are still barely standing by the spring. This site is also accessed from the opposite side of the campground on Ben Fly Rd or Greer Rd for the serious off roaders. 4 wheel drive may be necessary but a Hyundai car entered through the creek in 2 wheel drive. It was dry though. STAR GAZING for all 3 sites: There is a cleared area on top of a hill side for stargazing far from the city lights. CHECK IN: Check in can be as early as like if the present campers have checked out. You can always hang out elsewhere on the property and start your day to explore and hike till they leave. Just let us know in advance. And you can stay all day the day of check out but you may have to pack up and park elsewhere if other campers need the spot. If not. Stay till dark. PHOTOS: EXPAND THE PHOTOS TO A SINGLE VIEW! Some photos are of nearby attractions. You can see the description of each photo and which site is in the picture when you expand them. VEHICLE TYPE AND PARKING: In order to drive up into the campsite, you may need a 4x4 vehicle but definitely need ground clearance. If you do not have a 4x4 vehicle or ground clearance, that is okay, park in the field and bring your water shoes for campsite 2. There are stairs and usually stepping stones to cross over to Site 1. Stepping stones for site 2 are coming soon. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: 4 WHEELING!!! FISHERS OFF ROAD RENTALS https://www.fishersoffroadrentals.com/ TOUR THE AREA IN A CAN-AM: Check out 'Fisher's Off Road' to rent a really nice 4 seater CAN-AM machine. Drive around the local dirt roads for miles and learn the history of Moon Shine Alley, drive through many creeks and see some beautiful views. We took to tour with Fisher and it was a blast. This company supports the locals and cleans up the trash on the sides of the roads; a great service to the area.
