Rustic Cabins at East West Farm

2 sites · Lodging20 acres · Jacksonville, AL
Sadly, due to family circumstances, we are not accepting bookings at this time. We hope to again in the near future. The land at East West Farm has been a working farm since the mid 19th century. When we bought it, the farming had ceased about 20 years before and so we re-established a small diverse family farm that was once common all over the country. Learn more about this land: Nestled in a valley of Alabama's own Appalachians, we have much to offer here on the farm and nearby. Bring your fishing gear, hiking boots, and backpack! Our two acre lake is full of fish you can spend the day fishing for (bass, bream, & crappie), rent our kayak and fish from it. Explore our pastures, enjoy the views of surrounding hilltops, hang a hammock by the creek and let the babbling waters sing you to sleep or try your hand at stacking and balancing creekstones! You can also get a taste of farm life as well. Gather eggs laid by our chickens, taste our creamy Jersey milk, enjoy a breakfast of sausage from our own pigs.Want even more adventure? We are just a few miles from the Chief Ladiga Bike Path that joins the Silver Comet Trail in Georgia. Take a day hike or go on a longer backpacking trip on the Pinhoti Trail. We will gladly help you locate local trail heads and if you want to go on an overnight trip, we can provide a shuttle service as well. We are also near Terrapin Creek which offers a pleasant day of paddling on your kayak or rent from one of the local outfitters. Check out Noccalula Falls 20 minutes away in Gadsden, stroll downtown, and if you love microbrews you can't pass up a visit to Back Forty Brewing. The tallest peak in the state is Cheaha Mountain, about an hour away and offers hore hiking, waterfalls, and swimming holes. If you love nature and the outdoors, this is the place to be. We are ruled by nature and the seasons. Please don't expect too much in winter and early spring. We respectfully harvest our own chickens and pigs for meat, so please be aware that there is a possibility that we could be engaged in such an activity.  We'll still do our best to make your visit an awesome one.

Our campsite consists of a Boy Scout wall tent pitched on a platform with a queen sized air matress. A power outlet is available inside the tent. We also have 2 small fans and lights for your use. Next to the tent is a ring for a campfire and a picnic table. The campsite is about 20 yards from the mouth of our cave. The cave has a small gate but opens up to big walking passage once you get down inside. We have a couple hundred yards of big cave that you will have access to. Cottage on the Coosa!

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Ragland, AL
Quiet little Cottage on a dead end street with great water views from screened in porch. Perfect little waterfront getaway for the family or furnished monthly rental. Located on the Coosa River (Lake Logan Martin) also just minutes from a public ramp and swimming at Ten Island Historic Park on Lake Neely Henry. 30 minutes Talladega speedway, new Lincoln boat launch,Honda, Pell City, Gadsden, and Anniston. 1hr East of Birmingham 2hr West of Atlanta It has two rooms both with queen beds a nice sized living room with front screened porch with a swing. Great outdoor space below the retaining wall, the property also features a fire ring and charcoal grill! You will have access to the entire home. 100 feet of water frontage and boat ramp! There is plenty of parking in front of the home. The floating dock is homemade because the water fluctuates when Alabama Power generates water a few miles upstream. If you use the dock you are doing so at your own risk. You are welcome to put chairs at the end of the ramp and still be right next to the water. Before swimming check the APShorline website for lake Neely Henry generator schedule. The water current can be strong. If you are planning on bringing your boat you are welcome to leave it in the water for your entire stay. Feel free to message me before booking with any questions or clarification . I do normally pull the dock out when they lower the water for the winter around the end of October. For stays longer than 1 week you will need to take trash to the free trash dump in Ragland open on Tuesday and Saturday I will give more details after you book :)
