It is located eight miles north of the small town of Heflin, Alabama, which is about an hour and a half from the metro areas of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. For example, an easy, straightforward drive down I-20 West makes Turkey Track Retreat a perfect quick weekend getaway for Atlanta residents looking to escape the city noise.
The cabin is surrounded by hundreds of square miles of forest. To the west, directly behind the cabin, there are over nine miles of continuous forest before reaching a hard-top road, and beyond that, over six miles to the next road. To the north, there are over sixty miles of continuous forest to the next road. Pinhoti Trailheads are nearby.
The ten acres is mostly forested, and all surrounding properties are similarly wooded. The back side of the property is bordered by a year-round creek. There are two open meadows, one of which is a pawpaw orchard.
Trails and a covered pavilion are located down by the creek. In season, you can enjoy blueberries, blackberries, and muscadines. Because the property is so remote—and because the surrounding areas adhere to International Dark Sky standards—you can enjoy spectacular stargazing on clear nights.

This is the perfect quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cabin is about 15 minutes from downtown Piedmont, which has multiple coffee shops, restaurants, fast food, grocery stores, and antique shops.
We provide a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, oven with stovetop, dishwasher, and kitchenware to make your stay comfortable.
You will be blown away by the mountain and creek views. A hiking path leads up to an overlook with a swing — the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sunrise. We are 15–20 minutes from Indian Mountain ATV Park (with space to park your trailer) and less than a two-hour drive to Birmingham, Chattanooga, and Atlanta.
Visit Gadsden (~35 minutes) to explore Noccalula Falls Park, especially beautiful with Christmas lights, or Fort Payne (~an hour) to explore Little River Canyon and Desoto Falls.
We also have a raised-bed vegetable garden that guests are welcome to harvest during their stay. Our property offers especially stunning views in the fall when the leaves are changing. The property spans both sides of the bike path at mile marker 9 on the Chief Ladiga.

It is 20.54 acres peacefully located between big land owners on each side, and a creek that runs through the middle that separates north from south pieces. Our trails are groomed and some just deer worn. We have one camp site that is rural and rustic. There is a bucket for the restroom and antique, old white kitchen sink for hand washing just outside it. There is no running water yet, but working on getting a water reservoir out there asap. No electricity yet a single power cord could be run for extra $10.00 for your visit. There is a fire pit close to the tent spot on, “Skip’s Campsite”.
Another camp site” Aqua-Fine-A” that has a walk in creek access, and you have to cross the creek to get to that one. It is farther away from “Skip’s bathroom access. It has a more established flag stone fire pit. It is our original primitive sight. There is no water reservoir or possibility of electricity at “Aqua-Fine-A” campsite. Everything must be packed in and out on foot.
Both sights require a hike to campsites on foot with uneven rooted trails. {You are welcome to use our well loved red wheelbarrow to haul items in}.
There is access to a bigger fire pit “M & M fire pit”, and a propane grill option (this is first come first serve/sharing spot).
More campsites developing over time and there is a massage practitioner on site if you are looking for the whole experience (29 years experience in healing modalities and shamanic blood line).
If you are looking to experience nature cabin style then, “The Minor Escape” is for you. This has a full refrigerator, full stand up filtered water shower, kitchen sink, separate master, two bedroom lofts with ladder access, kitchen sink, ceiling fans, window a/c units for summer and space heaters for winter (Eden pure heater that shows fireplace flames).
Our family loves this land and there is always new areas being cultivated in various spots. You will see us out there either with our hobby farm of animals, gardening or building a new area. I am a teacher, guide, artist, and healer. This land is sacred and magical. It is used to heal, restore, inspire and rejuvenate many locally and internationally.

- ALL guests must complete a waiver/release of liability form in order enter the premise. A link to the form will be sent upon booking; it requires a photo ID for all guests over 18 years of age and a guardian’s photo ID for any guests under 18 years of age.

- Be aware that the twin beds are located in a loft, which is open to the rest of the home. To get to the loft, there is a very steep, thin (22” wide) ladder-style staircase. Although there is some railing, it is minimal and therefore inherently dangerous and difficult to navigate, especially with suitcases. The ceiling height is 5ft at the highest point. Please be mindful of this.
- Please ensure all guests are accounted for within your reservation. We DO NOT allow anyone that is not accounted for onto the property, even if they do not intend on staying the night. Unannounced guests will result in a $100 per guest, per night, charge to your account AND you will need to vacate immediately. ALL guests must complete a waiver/release of liability form to be allowed onto the property.
- This cabin is on a septic system; it cannot handle food scraps, wipes, nor toiletries. Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, nor excessive tissue, EVEN ONES MARKED AS FLUSHABLE, as this will cause a blockage and render all plumbing unusable.
- The cabin has a Take One, Leave One library; feel free to bring a book you’re finished reading and trade out for one of ours.
- Because this is a rural area, we recommend turning off any lights that are not directly in use, as bugs are very prevalent and attracted to light, especially at night.
- We do have a ChargePoint Level 2 EV charger, which is free to use. *This is a J1772 plug, Teslas will require an adapter.*
- The inflatable hot tub can reach temperatures up to 104°F. *It must be at least 40°F outside in order for the hot tub to effectively heat.* Due to the nature of inflatable hot tubs, it will lose about 5°F per hour that the lid is off; weather conditions and use of the jets may expedite this cooling. Unlike a traditional hot tub, there are no seats inside.
- There are mini-splits for AC/heat. Use the “dry” setting to cool off the space, which also reduces humidity. If it gets too cold, you can switch the units to the “cool” setting or turn off. If you get an error on the mini-splits, ensure they are all on the same setting, as the system cannot heat and cool simultaneously.

1 night at Bohamia - Glamp/RV/Camp
Loved staying here, and will definitely have to go again sometime to really explore the whole property. We were only there for the night on our way home from a long road trip. Leigh was very communicative and greeted us and showed us around when we arrived. She was very friendly and helpful!
The campsites were in the mountains, tucked into a quiet forest without light pollution, so you could really see the stars. The A-frames are comfy and cozy, and have decks with seating, fire pits, and coffee machines. The bed was so comfortable! Plenty of places to plug in your electrics. The property was extremely well-kept on terms of cleanliness. The bathrooms are close by and also very clean and well stocked. Such a beautiful way to end our adventure!
The path up the mountain is pretty steep and rocky, so wouldn't recommend taking a low-sitting vehicle. Some of the A-frames have steps and rocks to hike over, but there are other accessible options on the property as well.

Very friendly, rustic and quaint. We slet in the cabin and it felt like sleeping in a treehouse. Trails were not that hard of a hike. The river was worth the small trek! Showers were nice and the composting toliet was surprisingly very clean. Clothing optional was easier than we thought and we didn't want to leave. Pro tip: bring a portable battery operated fan during the summer months.

I have stayed in FF3 several times, and always it is my favorite place to camp! Its proximity to the stream and the privacy the site offers is ideal! I love the deck and the fire pit!
Dustin thoughtfully provides a small battery powered fan, two towels, and a fun tour of the gardens and greenhouse.
10/10 time all the way around!

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat
My husband and I are busy and exhausted and on top of that, we have been through some major life changes. This has led to a rough patch in our relationship. The only choice we had the weekend we went was to cancel all plans and just exist in nature. We didn’t have time or patience to work for it either. I didn’t want to set up a tent and I didn’t want to be in a house or a hotel. The sunrise cabin at Parksland was exactly what I personally needed. We got to be completely free with our bodies and minds. Which led to freedom of conversation between us. The windows and glass doors allow you to zone out and watch the birds fly and the trees sway. It is particularly charming in the rain. I am so grateful that I live so close to heaven. The sauna and swimming hole are added benefits. Cherries on top. If you need SERENITY this is your place but don’t mistake that word for boring. I had the most mind opening experience here!
Want to add, I have tent camped here as well and no matter how you do it, just do it.

Beautiful property!! Glamping tents were cozy and the ac ran very very good! Bathrooms were really nice and clean. We had an amazing trip and will definitely be back. Was so happy to be able to use the canoe for free and even caught 6 bass in just an hour or so! Best campsite ever.

Outstanding! Dustin has built such a lovely place here at Parksland. The cabin was exactly as advertised, if not better. We had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We hiked the trails, enjoyed the Friday night meal, toasted in the sauna on Saturday night, and stayed up chatting with several other folks in the lounge area by a roasting fire while it drizzled on the metal roof. Most visitors during our stay participated in the clothing optional invitation (in case you were curious). We met some people who had visited before, but the majority who were there during our time were newcomers like us. If you have the opportunity to visit - go! You won’t regret it. It’s serene and warm and inviting in every wonderful way possible.

What an awesome place with a great mix of things to do and relaxation. We hiked all over the property, fished in the pond, had a picnic by the lake, and really enjoyed relaxing in the evening on our private balcony with a fire stove. The bathrooms were clean and within a short walk. I highly recommend staying here.
