4 nights at Cold Spring Basecamp
Excellent example of what a true Treehouse should be. This tree house is supported by four large trees 3 of which are growing through the deck and front porch. There is one tree that is actually inside your bathroom next to the shower. The treehouse is wonderful sitting high above the road below. Beautiful sight when leaves are off the tree as you come up the driveway. Our camp host was great checked on us occasionally. Definitely respected your privacy. The Treehouse has many windows sliding door and glass porch door as well as sliding bathroom door with frosted glass top panel. My wife was a little taken aback at the lack of privacy curtains but she soon got used to the fact that it was still very private. Opening the windows with screens allows the air to circulate through the cabin. The central heat and air is great for when you want to be warm or get really cool. There is a small in-wall thermostatically controlled heater in the bathroom. You can turn it from warm to hot and it will cut itself on and off intermittently. Definitely nice when you're in the bathroom and you vent the sliding windows. Be aware there is no television however we streamed music and video streaming services on our tablet if we wanted something to listen to or watch. We have Verizon cellular service and had decent connection with no problem streaming. Again you're in a treehouse in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina unplug and enjoy.

Great place! Would recommend this place to anyone with dogs. Mine went in and out of the river all weekend, not worried about other people or them wandering too far. He was kind and helped find local hikes, brought fresh apples and cabbage. Will be back 100%

I loved camping so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The campsite is well situated between the Parkway and Brevard. The site was very quiet and peaceful with the sound of the river right next to our site. We stayed at site 6. Tom, our host, was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. He gave us great local information about great places to see!

My niece and her kids and I had a great night in the treehouse. It was definitely too short a visit but will stay again, just maybe not in the treehouse next time. It’s beautiful out here and I’d recommend it to anyone!

Our family loved everything about Bills Cabin! The primitive adventure of the open air but the comfort of their camp mattresses was the perfect mix. The kids enjoyed heating up by the wood stove and cooking over the open fire. Gathering our drinking water from the creek was also a very cool experience. In the morning before check out we were able to explore some of the trails and my husband and I both attempted the cold plunge. We’ve already talked about coming back and can’t wait to check out the tree house for the views.

Great spot right on the river! We had a great time at At the Ridge Camp- Riverside Escapes. We are a family of 5 & stayed in cabin #2. It is a rustic camping cabin but was clean, spacious enough for all of us to sleep comfortably & had electricity. The showers were HOT & Tom made sure we had everything needed. They are still rebuilding from Helene but are definitely up & ready for campers! We will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Cold Spring Basecamp
This cabin is exactly what I was looking for! It was just myself and my two dogs but I couldn't have been happier with the space. An open air cabin that provides enough shelter from a slightly cold night, Bill's cabin had everything I needed including plenty of sleeping space, a large fire pit, a propane-powered stove cast iron skillets, and even a french press.
The location was easy to find and it was clear the hosts put plenty of thought into their guest's experience. Solar powered lights helped keep things clear, clean plates and dishes were welcome, and $5 per bundle fire wood kept us warm all night!
I would absolutely come back here by myself or with my family or friends!

My daughters and I had a wonderful two-night stay at Bill’s Cabin. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. The camp host was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel so welcome. It was cold (and even snowed!), and while the cabin wasn’t exactly warm, the stove helped, and we made it work.
We loved cooking over the fire pit, using the well-stocked kitchen, and unwinding under the solar lights. The rustic charm and peaceful surroundings made it a magical getaway. We’ll definitely be back—next time for the treehouse stay!

Wonderful stay in cabin #2! Host was super helpful with tips on staying warm. It was about 34 degrees and we were very toasty with the 2 space heaters provided. Comfortable beds too!

It was a very pleasant stay. We got there about an hour after sunset and didn't have difficulty finding the property in the dark. Slept well listening to the sound of the river right next to us. I didn't realize that on the other size of the river was a road and we'd also hear cars. We purchased firewood from Carrie, and it was actually $10, not $5 like it mentions on the advertisement. We ended up wanting to get more wood, and that was a bit of a hassle as Carrie isn't actually the one managing the property. There were other people involved in managing the property that we had to communicate with and go find. Ultimately would've been easier to bring our own, but nevertheless we did acquire all the firewood we wanted, albeit all damp. There were some permanent residents on the property in nearby campers, all pleasant. Overall would recommend and may return in the future.
