Here, you can enjoy an “off-the-grid” experience without giving up convenience: food delivery is still just a tap away, and last-minute essentials are an easy drive.
At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site.
Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley.
Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina.
Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife.
Important please read!
There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me.
There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. They chose not to stay, and I refunded them. It is very safe here and secluded from the main road. Look at all of the pictures to make sure this is the spot for you. Thanks

We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 4 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property.
Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More mountain biking at Ride Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek downhill mountain bike park 15 minutes away. The 7 mile paved Ecusta Trail from Horseshoe to Hendersonville is open, several miles away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014.
Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top.
Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach.
When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains.
Perfect!
In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home.
As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage,
that was outside of our budget continued to pop up.
Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back.
At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop.
On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin
just because we had the time.
Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy.
It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right?
We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer.
It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim.
We offered the most that we could get a loan for.
They accepted!
I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014.
Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place.

Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker.
If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there.
We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. The site backs up to over 100 acres of forest for a truly wilderness feel just outside of town.

Our 19 acres on Brushy Mountain is nestled away in the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area of the Nantahala National Forest, the largest of NC's four National Forests with over 500,000 acres of pristine wilderness. The famous Iron Bridge over the headwaters of the Chattooga River is just a short drive away down Bull Pen Road. You will find some of the best trout fishing and hiking trails in all of North Carolina at your doorstep. This temperate rain forest is enjoyable in every season and is exceptional in its ecological diversity and abundance. If you are interested in hiking to beautiful waterfalls, fishing in native trout streams, bird watching or star gazing, this is the place for you! And if you need supplies from town, Cashiers is the closest and is about 25 minutes away and Highlands is about a 45 minute drive. Both have great restaurants and shops to check out.
Our gated, gravel driveway is steep and a half mile long. You will need an all-wheel or 4 Wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway without spinning. There is ample space to turn around to park, but due to the nature of our driveway we limit the length of RV's to no more than 20 feet. If you are interested in hiking to beautiful waterfalls, fishing in native trout streams, bird watching or star gazing, this is the place for you! And if you need supplies from town, Cashiers is the closest and is about 25 minutes away and Highlands is about a 45 minute drive. Both have great restaurants and shops to check out.
Our gated, gravel driveway is steep and a half mile long. You will need an all-wheel or 4 Wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway without spinning. There is ample space to turn around to park, but due to the nature of our driveway we limit the length of RV's to no more than 20 feet. If you do not feel comfortable maneuvering your RV up steep. winding and gravel terrain, please email me to discuss.

This campsite is amazing! The views, the privacy, the hot tub were perfect! The driveway up to it is a little intimidating but my husband made it fine with a 1500 truck and our 17’ R Pod. Just like the listing says, 4wd is a must, but so worth it when you make it to the top! Such a nice place that Lee is sharing with others!

We had the most wonderful weekend at Edwin’s spot. It was absolutely beautiful, incredibly private, and exactly what we were hoping for in a peaceful getaway. We tent camped in February, and even with the colder weather, we were comfortable and cozy. I didn’t expect the shelter on site, but we really appreciated using it for extra storage. The views were stunning, the sunrise was breathtaking, and the campfire kept us warm all afternoon while we cooked and relaxed. There’s something special about spending a slow day by the fire with nowhere else to be. Our dogs had the best time exploring all the open space, too. It truly felt like our own little retreat for the weekend. We were sad to leave when the trip was over, but we’ve already shared this hidden gem with friends and hope many more people get to experience it. We’ll definitely be back!

Me and my fiance camped at the Mountain View and Hot-tub site on Clayton and Tiffany's land and we woke up to a winter wonderland! It was absolutely beautiful with stunning views. The bathhouse was very nice and a great addition! Both of them were very kind and helpful. The animals were adorable as well and one of the highlights of the entire trip!

We've been in a hundred hot tubs and this is the best model so far. This past trip temps were in the teens and the heat kept up impeccably. The best part is that it heats silently. This is important if you prefer listening to nature rather than the hum of a hot tub pump. Also very clean and well maintained.
You can park your trailer parallel to and close to the firepit setup and hot tub and get level using 6" ramps under each tire on the low side. But we found we prefer to be parallel to the woods as shown in these pictures. It provides a more panoramic 280° view from the hot tub. Setting up this way requires 6" ramps under each tire and the tongue dropped almost to the ground. It was worth it to us.

Such a lovely spot! I live in the area and needed a spot in the woods to decompress and this was just that! The spot and the view were lovely, I enjoyed having all the storage for gear and firewood, and the privy was such a nice convenience! The space is well kept and the host was easy to communicate with. I will definitely be recommending this spot to my friends and hope to stay again!

The location was perfect for what I was looking for. Very quiet and secluded. I went on Christmas Day, which was really nice because being winter I could see through all the trees and I had a 360° view of the mountains around us. Several good spots to pitch multiple tents, and just a great spot overall. Highly recommend

Easy to find, wide open space with a horizon view full of mountains! Beautiful sunset, great stargazing opportunities and an established firepit. Lots of room for parking, huge wood built deck for tents or chilling out. This was right off the road but not a lot of traffic or noise.
There was 2 “outhouse “ structures but not potty usable ( unless I am a moron and didn’t know how to use them) but they both faced the trees so at least there was partial coverage.

The site was clean and spacious. With no leaves on the trees in the winter, we had a lovely view of the mountains and the sunset in the evening from the hot tub. The bath house was a short distance away and was heated, which was great after the hot tub. The stars at night were fantastic! The hosts were helpful and responsive. Highly recommend this spot!

Weekend Trip to Indian Creek Rental's Mountain Camp
We had a lovely time staying at the mountain shine camper!! The camper was sooo cozy and plenty warm with temps in the 30s at night. The heated bathhouse was a very close walk from the camper and had a shower and toilet. We had a wonderful view of the mountains and the sunset with no leaves on the trees. The stars were stunning at night too. The camper had running water, a single stovetop, and a little grill outside, all of which we used for meals. The hosts were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Plenty of awesome hiking spots nearby. Highly recommended staying here! We will be back!

This was absolutely perfect for us, but may have TOO MUCH privacy for some folks. You are truly alone here. Incredible hardwood property. Beautiful hikes, fishing, and drives in the area.
We made it up - no problem - with a 21' camper (25' true length) and a crew cab 2500, but this is about max length (2-3 steep, narrow gravel switchbacks -- 4x4 mandatory). Bring extra leveling blocks and 30' of sewer hose.
For the right people with the right rig, this spot simply can't be beat. Thank you for sharing!
