Weekend Trip to Trails & Tails Waterfalls Retreat

This camping spot is awesome, site 3 is on a big piece of land that is more secluded the further you go back. Our dog Ginger loved running around the trail in the back. Beth and Rob are great hosts, they always made sure we had what we needed. I would definitely come back.

Weekend Trip to Emberglow Outdoor Resort

We had a great experience at Emberglow. Their staff was friendly and helpful, the campground had a ton of amenities, was perfect for our young family and is very well taken care of. We plan to return soon!

2 nights at 3 Creeks Camp and Nature Preserve

We had the whole camp to ourselves which was so nice. It was quiet and there was a fun creek for the kids to play in. Some of the bathrooms could use some more upkeep but other than that we had a great stay and Damon was very nice!

We stayed on here for 2 nights for our hiking trip.. and absolutely loved it. There was plenty of space at the primitive camp site (camping in the woods) and the Mountain View site for our group of 6 people (3 tents). The hot tub was perfect for our sore bodies after hiking for 2 days. The bathhouse was clean, modern, and spacious. The view from the Mountain View camp site is unreal.. we will definitely be returning for and hiking we do in the area! Very private, relaxing, and convenient well worth the price! We had a fantastic stay at the campsite with a hot tub! The view was so pretty and peaceful. The carport was a great spot to setup our kitchen. The bathhouse was way closer than expected and the nicest one I’ve seen! We are definitely going back!!

Weekend Trip to Trails & Tails Waterfalls Retreat

This was my first camping trip on HipCamp, and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to bring my elementary-aged son and dog! The property is gorgeous and the SportGo was clean and super spacious. My son loved looking out the tent windows each morning and playing in the creek. Beth & Rob were so kind and anticipated my questions before I had them. As a single mom, camping is not always for the faint of heart but at Trails & Tails it felt like a true getaway. Brevard and DuPont were easily accessible and we had a blast hiking, playing at the foot of High Falls, and exploring Brevard.

I loved camping so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The campsite is well situated between the Parkway and Brevard. The site was very quiet and peaceful with the sound of the river right next to our site. We stayed at site 6. Tom, our host, was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. He gave us great local information about great places to see!

This was such a delightful place to stay, and we're already making plans to come back. The Creekhouse is the perfect blend of roughing it with access to basic amenities. My kids enjoyed playing in the creek and exploring the property, and I appreciated the quiet freedom to let them roam. Damon is a wonderful host, friendly and very responsive. When the temperature dropped suddenly, he made sure we had heaters and warm blankets for sleeping, and we stayed cozy. My favorite part was falling asleep to the sound of the creek directly below us.

We had a great time. We loved having the animals come up to the fence and interact with us. The spot is not level so just know you will need leveling supplies. Loved our visit.

FAQs Does the host provide firewood? No Are pets allowed? Yes Is smoking indoors allowed? No Are there bugs? Yes, you will feel like you are camping. Bring bug spray Will I get cold or hot inside the dome? Although we try our best to make it comfortable, there is a chance the heater/ac will not perform the way you would like. This is a shelter that may let cool/hot air in. Pack sleeping bags if you are concerned, or even a heated blanket. Fans provided. What else is provided? Shelter, bed, sheets, blankets, towels, toaster, mini fridge, toilet paper, hot tub, & fans. Bathrooms? Each dome has their own portable toilet that is treated weekly. Running water? No Cell service & Internet? T Mobile does not have reception. AT&T has service. There is no internet or TVs. We encourage you to unplug and connect. Parking? You will have comfortable parking for 1 car. The driveway is fairly steep. Will I be the only one around for miles? There is another dome on the property 100 yards away. The road you drive in on is about 50 feet from the dome so you will hear cars driving by. When we stay there it becomes white noise but you will hear them. Is the stocked pond only for my group? The pond is accessible for you, guests at creekside cottage & guests at the other dome. The creek is as well. Is the Hot Tub for only my group? YES, if you rented the Freedome this is only for your group. The other dome gets access to the sauna and Creekside Cottage has its own hot tub. Is the Sauna for only my group? YES, if you rented the Kingdome this is only for your group. The other dome gets access to the hot tub and Creekside Cottage has its own hot tub. What do you advise we bring? Firewood.If needed plates, cups, utensils, coffee & coffee filters. If you are a colder person bring a heavy duty sleeping bag or extra blankets to be safe. Good shoes as it may get slippery/muddy. Fishing gear if you want to catch some trout for dinner. Portable grill or skillet if needed. Bug spray, adventure energy, swimsuits. You may want to try a dip in the creek and back to the hot tub for a Wim Hof experience.

The Quack Shack

This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. The host generally blocks concert dates, however, it is worth double-checking with the host that there will not be a concert if you desire a quieter experience.

Ten minute fairly easy hike from trailhead. 7.7 mi- Paradise Falls Trailhead. One of the best secret swimming holes! A magnificent oasis. Challenging and steep hike, but worth it. 11 mi- Upper Dill Falls & Lower Dill Falls. 50 ft. Waterfall (lower) with just a short easy hike. Upper Dill falls is beautiful and tucked into a lush cove. 7.9 mi- Wolf Creek Lake. Better known to the locals as Wolf Lake, this 183 acre high elevation lake offers spectacular scenery and great swimming, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.
