Enjoy 8 beautiful, secluded acres on the Conewago Creek at Bald Hill, Northern York Co. My homestead was once part of the Conewago Turf Farm. It borders the creek a length of 1100 feet, mostly maintained with easy access. Camp is at the base of a steep section of the Conewago Mountains, creating privacy and protection from wind and afternoon sun. This is not a whole house rental. I have a one bedroom, queen size bed, kitchenette, private restroom and outdoor shower with on demand hot water. There's plenty of room for tent or van camping. Please see pictures for detail. I live in the house above the glamping quarters. Plenty of good fishing and paddling here. I offer shuttle service for 1 or 2 day float trips, paddle in one day, paddle out the next day. Canoes, kayaks, paddles and PFD's are included in the price of your stay. The Conewago is very beginner paddling but remote, very clean and full of wildlife. Gifford Pinchot State Park is 7 miles away. I have two paddle boards if you want to paddle the 3 mile lake. This adventure would require a short hike out to a parking area. Relax in a wood fired Norwegian sauna and cook in a Peruvian wood fired earth oven or cook under the stars over an open fire. Firewood is also included. Foodies will rejoice here. I live and work here, part time blacksmith and wood worker. I'll assist you in any way or do my best to stay out of your way. Wildlife love it here, I think you will too.

Ironwood Trail & Private Campground

It took seven years to carve this winding trail and two-level scenic  campsite into the wooded hill behind our home.  Now completed, I feel inspired to share their solitude and beauty with others who will appreciate it. From the top of a steep drive, a brief but precipitous hike leads you high up very quickly through a mature forest to some steps that lead the first of two camping locations leveled within clefts of rocks forming a pair of overlooks. A soft, level campsite awaits you there under a canopy of trees where you will find everything you'll need for a small-scale deep forest outing.      The lower level either stands alone (1-2 persons) or serves as a base camp for the Northwest Expansion area (3-4 persons) a very short hike away.  (Please inquire about additional campers.) The expansion features a roomy 13 x 15ft groomed tenting surface, a stone fire ring with steel fire pit, and plenty of extra space to spread out.  It provides an additional layer of privacy and a (leaf-permitting) northwest view that usually includes a sunset.      [Note: Reservations include use of both the lower level and the upper Northwest Expansion camping areas.  Keep in mind that the technical nature of the trail and terrain makes it unsuitable for most children under 10 years old.]      Hundreds of feet away, there are a few homes residing below the camps, but you are high enough above the world below to enjoy a sense of separation from it.  Were these camping areas part of any state or commercial campground in Pennsylvania they would easily be among the best tenting sites in the state.  Even among Hipcamps we were awarded a top-ten rating in 2018 and 2019+ - and we've improved since then. People love it here.       Guests will find a huge, well-stocked chest of supplies at the lower level to furnish virtually any extra thing(s) that may help you camp in comfort, from a Coleman cookstove and table, an air pump, a kettle, a 8x10 tarp, plates and cups and cutlery-there's even a Scrabble game and playing cards. You get the idea.  ** We ask our guests to arrive prepared with their own supplies and to use the supply box as a backup for items that may have been forgotten or to fill in for things they do not want to purchase for a single outing.** (Please do not depend solely on the camp supplies to meet ALL of your camping needs!)  We took items on most camping lists and tried to have them waiting in the box so you can visit without worrying about forgetting anything.        Firewood bundles can be purchased at any time during your stay. We try to keep an abundant supply in a woodpile at the trailhead that you purchase as needed via cash, Paypal or Venmo.  Wood can easily be gathered, there are even hatchets and hand saws in the supply box for cutting fallen branches down to size.  We also provide a two-person hammock, plastic Adirondack chairs, battery powered lanterns, citronella torches, etc.  Cell chargers and jugs of drinking water are available upon request.           The woods are teeming with resident species of woodpeckers, owls, warblers and more, and vultures and hawks and can almost always be seen riding thermals overhead. If you're lucky the turkeys will come to roost in the woods above the area as they often do. The best part is that no one else will know you are up there.      In addition to overnight stays, daytime and evening hours are available too for morning bird walks, lunch breaks, herbal retreats, sunset cookouts--whatever guests might imagine doing in the privacy of the outdoors. Tree climbing and treetop camping are welcome and encouraged for anyone looking for a good place to hang their gear and enjoy the view.  There are scores of great campsites waiting to be discovered up there for experienced and responsible climbers.      Please check out our reviews for more relevant details and feedback from our guests.  We hope to see you here sometime soon!

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. Work-stay exchange programs are available. We are always looking for good reliable part-time help on the farm! Please ask! Fall leaves colors are looking awesome! Our farmhouse was built in 1860 and we are only the fourth family to live here! In the past century and a half, this land was used as a willow and flax farm as well as a chicken farm. The property is on Lenni-Lenape land, and our hope is to bring back more of the native plants that have been used (and continue to be used) as food and medicine.Learn more about this land:Welcome to For Tomorrow Farms, our creekside permaculture farm and food forest! This site is still being planned and developed, but our mission is to create a productive and healing space in nature for individuals to connect with the environment, try fresh home-grown foods, and hang out with friendly farm animals. We are currently growing rare and heirloom fruits, veggies, and herbs (ask us what we’re growing!) in the backyard of our 1860s farmhouse, and our animals help with natural land maintenance and fertilization. Come say hi to the goats, take a dip in the creek, and explore our 10 acres of exotic wetlands! If you’re looking for a longer hike, we are also surrounded by plenty of gorgeous parks and trails, which are only a short drive away. This is the ideal location for a peaceful getaway just an hour outside center city Philadelphia. Plus, make sure to keep checking back as we continue to grow and improve our property. A few projects we’re looking forward to are converting one of the old farm sheds into a tiny guest house and adding a shower to our indoor campsite bathroom! We hope you’ll enjoy your stay here! Welcome to DreamBuilders Oasis, a quiet countryside retreat in Chester County where travelers can relax, stretch their legs, and reconnect with nature while enjoying wide-open country skies in a small farming village. It’s a peaceful basecamp for exploring the region whether you're here for one night, staying a several days, or settling in for a longer countryside visit, especially if you travel with pets. Our property includes three open acres in the Ole Wendle Orchard where guests can walk the tree line, feel the breeze through the grass, and unwind inside the gazebo, near the water feature at sunset. Birds frequent the area and an occasional family of deer passes through the meadow. Low light pollution in this farm community makes the property excellent for stargazing, meteor watching, and satellite spotting when skies are clear. Guests also mention excellent cycling and bike routes on quiet country roads nearby in their reviews. Despite the natural rural feel, everyday conveniences are a short walk away. Within 1/4 mile you’ll find two family-owned pizza shops, a hair salon, Turkey Hill convenience store and gas station & a community park with playground. Guests often mention the warm welcome and hands-on hospitality here. When schedules allow, we enjoy greeting campers, helping new RV users get set up, and sharing local tips so you can make the most of your stay. DreamBuilders Oasis is well located for exploring Lancaster Amish country, Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival in September, the New Year's Eve Mushroom Drop, Cochranville Carnival in July, and the wineries of Chester County.
