All ready for your summer expedition! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a 4 seat table as well as some cots makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 40 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and a picnic table. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

Located roughly 20 miles from Beaver Creek State Park, DLR Mustang Ranch is a 17-acre peaceful sanctuary for many wild and previously wild mustangs. The Ranch offers veteran and first responder mustang programs year-round. Please let us know if you are a veteran or first responder for a special rate. Accommodations include a small one-room cabin nestled on a little pond a stone's throw from the main house and veteran program area. The cabin has electricity, a microwave, small refrigerator, tv, futon, heating and cooling; however, it does not have plumbing. There is a bar/restaurant close by in Adrian. It's 10 miles to downtown Kittanning, where festivals and concerts in the park are held, plus more restaurants, stores, and rails to trails for bike riders. Renee is a fantastic host!! I rode my bike from Pittsburgh, 60 miles with 5250 elevation in the rain. Renee turned the heat up and had a welcome treat for me. She went out of her way to make me comfortable. The little cabin was just what I needed. There were frogs peeping, rain on the roof, and an electric fire blazing to greet me. I was beat so I wasn't an good at being social, but Renee seems like an enjoyable person to meet. The farm animals made it a great place to return to. There is an outhouse, but there is a container of lime available to lightly flower the contents and eliminate odors.

Weekend Trip to Tiny Home on the Hill

The property is great! There weren't leaves on the trees yet when we stayed in early April, but it still felt private and secluded which is really important to us. We loved having a metal roof over one of the fire pits which came in handy during our first night there and we were hit with a downpour. We enjoyed hearing the donkey in the distance, too. We spent the next day hiking at Allegheny National Forest (we really loved the Beaver Meadow Loop Trail) and our Australian shepherd loved it too. The cabin itself was super clean and the perfect amount of space for what we needed. The only drawback was the 1 single twin sized bed at the ground level. There are multiple beds upstairs, but the staircase to go upstairs is not safe for dogs, and dogs are not allowed upstairs (understandably so!). Our Aussie likes to snuggle with us and would certainly attempt to climb up to us, so we slept in the twin bed the first night. The second night, we split up and 1 person slept upstairs and the other person slept downstairs. It was not a big deal, and we probably should have thought about the sleeping arrangements ahead of time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful property with us! Happy Easter!

I stayed in the cabin at DLR Mustang Ranch for a weekend, and it was exactly what I needed. I came to catch up on homework for my doctoral program and to have some quiet space to recover after the loss of my mother. It gave me such a peaceful, safe, and comfortable place to be alone, focus, and heal. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe the entire time, and that meant so much to me. I can’t say enough about Renee’s generosity and hospitality and the good things happening at DLR Mustang Ranch. I am so grateful for my stay and will absolutely be back.

My kids and I had so much fun!! Gerry was very nice and helpful!! We loved camping and horse riding!! My 6 year old got to ride a horse for the first time! Gerry explained all about the horses and my kids got to brush them and clean their hooves. Prada, Sky and Jackie are beautiful horses!! Pigonia the pig was adorable!! We’ll definitely be back and we’ll try out the hay loft next time! We highly recommend!!

I recommend this site. Troy is a great and responsive host. The cabin is very clean and is exactly as pictured. It has many thoughtful conveniences (a plastic cooler built into the bar top, in case you bring ice and drinks, a charging station for phones, interior and exterior lights on remote controls, etc etc). The bathroom is very clean. The cabin was stocked with a generous supply of firewood. (I only used the indoor iron stove, and not the outdoor fire pit, as it was raining both nights I stayed there. But both options can add enjoyment to your stay.) The cabin sits on a scenic property. The grounds immediately around the cabin are very nicely maintained (green, mowed grass, trees, benches, etc). Beyond the immediate grounds is farmland that is enjoyable to look out over. I had a very positive experience and recommend this property.

2 nights at Tiny Home on the Hill

My girlfriend and I loved our stay here for our anniversary! The cabin was decently sized, pretty, very private, and had all the amenities. On the few days we stayed, it snowed pretty heavily and dropped to temperatures well below what was expected, but the pipes never froze, the heating was great, and hot water in the shower still worked. The cabin has lots of amenities including a nice stove, sink, fridge, and microwave. The host clearly stays there sometimes, as there was a lot of his stuff around. He provided dishes, silverware, and many toiletries among other things. The cabin has a nice firepit outside along with a pavilion that are a very nice place to share a campfire meal. Overall, we loved the place! The host was very kind and gave us some tips on how to make sure the pipes didn't freeze. The only negatives were: 1. The cleanliness of the place: While it was clear that the place had been tidied and there were no super gross parts, the owner missed several things, such as a Hershey bar wrapper, that were on the floor. 2. The driveway was very steep and gravel. With 4WD, we were able to drive on it with some snow, but without 4WD there is no chance we would have made it. Besides these small issues though, it was an idyllic place for a couple to relax and get some time away from the world!

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. It was exactly as described. The weather was great for the beginning of March and the loft stayed very warm with a fire going in the wood burner! The property is beautiful and we hiked the trail on the property.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I felt very welcomed, and the place reflects such a warm and peaceful vibe with the horses and the other animals. The environment is cozy and relaxing, and I truly enjoyed spending time walking in nature. What a beautiful stay! Renee welcomed me warmly and gave me an amazing tour of the horses. She is truly an amazing human being. As soon as you hear her speak about her mission of helping others, you believe in it immediately because she speaks from the heart. What a beautiful mission. I’m very glad that I stayed here. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.
