The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Welcome to Benner's Meadow Run RV Campground! We are a spacious campground tucked in the beautiful, lush Laurel Highlands of western PA. Our tent sites are mostly secluded and private with plenty of room for you to enjoy the outdoors with your friends and/or loved ones. Benner's has a myriad of fun activities and on-site amenities for your enjoyment. Our amenities include a swimming pool, a beautiful NEW bathhouse with hot showers, mini golf, communal fire pits, arcade, store with ice cream and drinks, fishing ponds, and much more. The amenities are open during the camping season from May through October. Tent camping is available year round too (for you cold weather people). We are located near Ohiopyle State Park and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob!

We loved staying at Myra's cabin. Comfy beds, clean, good shower, and responsive host. There is a spiral staircase that took us a bit to get used to, but we all did, kids included. Great location between Cleveland & DC.

Such a beautiful view, beautiful location and cozy accommodations. Kristen was incredibly helpful and had the cabin well stocked. Despite it being November the cabin was very warm with the heaters, glamping at it's best

Muddy Myst was the perfect get away from the city. It gave such a comforting, safe and woodsy feeling. It was also very warm during a cold night! I would suggest this lovely place to anyone needing a cozy spot to relax!

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

1 night at Muddy Myst

Fantastic property! We rented the tree cabin but the tent sites also looked great. All the amenities you could ask for while still being rustic and private. We visited for our annual fall leaf peeping trip, but we fully intend to come back in the summer--we are excited to take advantage of the cute little pond for swimming and kayaking. Would highly recommend!!

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

We absolutely loved staying in the Fernhouse!! It was perfect. It was adorable and so cozy. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was wonderful! So close to hiking trails and lots of outdoor recreation. The hike around the property was beautiful and our dogs loved walking it with us in the morning. The outdoor area is super cozy too. Virgil was so kind and welcoming. We will be back again in another season!! I would highly recommend.

Donnie's property is truly an unexpected little slice of heaven. From the property and amenities, to the welcomed animal interruptions during our detailed tour at the courtesy of Donnie...this place is truly something special. Although during our stay we were doing what some would classify as "glamping"; the amount of amenities and relaxing feeling they create makes it feel more like a country resort. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Muddy Myst

I booked the tree cabin to surprise my boyfriend with a one-night-getaway for his birthday, and we absolutely loved our time here. Liam did an incredible job with communicating important info via Hipcamp messaging, and he created a beautiful, serene atmosphere at Muddy Myst that made our stay wonderful. Everything was clean, private, and beautiful. We really appreciated the bathroom & common area amenities. We had an amazing stay and absolutely will come back and recommend to a friend. Our dog loved the adventure, too!

This has been one of my favorite hip camp experiences! Donnie is a wonderful host and has a lovely property with a bunch to do. Loved falling asleep in a cozy den and waking up to the animals. All areas were clean and comfortable- 11/10!

Donnie was amazing, so accommodating, kind soul. The amenities were way better than I expected them to be. What an incredible value for the price. Wonderful privacy. Beautiful views. The hot tub was phenomenal. The bathrooms and showers are awesome. There's a refrigerator and microwave in the common space. Took my mom here for a getaway and we will definitely be coming back.

Great spot, perfect for a getaway from Baltimore for my wife and me. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed and we had such a fun time eating all our meals by the fire and exploring Rocky Gap. Kristen was very helpful! We will be back for sure!

Virgil goes above and beyond, the little house is very comfy and well appointed, and it’s so great to have a mile long trail right at your doorstep for early morning and evening walks! Virgil even left biscuits for my dog ❤️ I think of this place as a home away from home.

Muddy Myst is the perfect relaxing getaway! The treehouse was cozy and inviting. Even with all the rain at night, we slept peacefully with the windows open. The magnetic screen door was a nice addition to keep the critters out. There are clearly marked trails around the campsites and “Hank’s Hangout” is well stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, filtered hot/cold water and a nicely kept bathroom with a shower next door. Our dog loved the beds outside and inside the treehouse. Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality, we cannot wait to make a trip back!

Amazing little place in the trees and by the river. My partner and I had an amazing time lounging on the dock and want to come back to fully enjoy the river when it's hotter next year! The fully equipped kitchen and that powerful little stove made us some great meals that felt perfect for the end of summer. Can't wait to return!

Weekend Trip to WonderWoods at Rocky Gap

Kristen was the sweetest host. The Acorn Palace was so cozy, clean, and full of snacks. It was my kids first time camping and it was just wonderful. She truly thought of everything to make our stay wonderful. Heat, AC, electric, hot showers, fully stocked kitchenette, our kind of camping. Can’t wait to return, would be a very romantic getaway with the husband.
