The stone cabin is my grandfather's homestead foundation. There was a two story house on it. He remembers his mother scrubbing the board walk to the outhouse every Saturday until the boards were white. Now the composting toilet is inside the cabin. Cornerstones of the old barn is in the field above the cabin. The soil is very rocky and Grandpa said they " lived on elderberries and groundhog". There is 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek and back up through a hemlock forest. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. I love the rocks on the property huge and small. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest and relaxation in a hammock. There is one along the little stream and one at Outdoor Adventure Camp Site.

Rustic Cabin with Sleeping Loft
So much to explore
I loved this place! We will be back! The cabin was adorable and well stocked with helpful supplies (lots of lanterns/flash lights, a propane camp stove, utensils, and the thing my husband loved the most, a hydraulic wood splitter). The beds up stairs were nice. The bigger bed was soooo comfortable. I slept better on it then I did on the hotel beds we'd been staying in all week. My daughters loved exploring to he creek, finding crawdads and frogs and a baby snapping turtle, and hiking the trail through the woods. They have a nice sitting area around the campfire and a chair by the creek and if you follow the creek a little ways there is a hammock set up too! But the coolest thing was when we cut up a dead tree and discovered it had Armillaria Root Rot. Something I had never heard of until I googled why our fresh chopped wood's bark was glowing in the dark! It's a bioluminescent fungus that grows under the bark of the tree. It glows blue and we enjoyed turning the flashlights off and finding all the glowing pieces around where we'd cut up the dead tree. Probably not something anyone else will get to see because all the other trees around looked healthy, so hopefully not infected with it.

Rustic Cabin with Sleeping Loft
Nice location along stream surrounded by hemlock trees. Co-host stopped by one evening to show our 4-year old daughter a goat and rabbits. Beds are comfortable. Downstairs area is rather gloomy but the loft (sleeping area) is nice enough. Would recommend to others.
