From 1939-2020 our family ran a summer sleep-away camp for children on the farm, with an emphasis on caring for each other and the land. Located in a small valley at 1400 feet of elevation, our fields and woods are home to a broad diversity of native plants and animals. Our family has been caring for this land since 1926, but before European colonization it was home to the Lenape people from whom it was forcibly taken. Acknowledging this fact and working to expand awareness of Indigenous cultures and their rights is important to us.
While at the farm, besides the amenities listed in each listing, you are welcome to hike or walk around and explore our farm which has many acres of woodland, creeks, springs, a pond, and open fields. A hot day is a great time for a walk along - or in - the creek. A rainy day brings out the Red Efts - beautiful orange newts that are all over the woods when you know where to look. We're always glad to point you in the right direction for a nice walk or a longer hike. You may be able to tag along collecting eggs from the hens or feeding some of the other animals we may have.

Your stay in the treehouse is off–grid, thoroughly insulated and heated by a wood-burning stove, also we do supply you with a Jackery 1000 lithium battery generator to power the shower, or to charge your phone or laptop. We also use a composting toilet for the cleanest and most environmentally sensitive relationship to the surroundings.

Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only.
Little Elk Lake is 43 acres.
Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags.
Rowboat plus 1 youth kayak, two adult kayaks and a canoe are available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes.
We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake!
We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot.
The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY!

- Our tent sites are rustic with NO electric or running water. Cabins have electric, but no indoor plumbing. Porta-Johns are available throughout the grounds. (Some sites are closer to port-a-johns than others.) We do not provide potable water or showers for tent campers but we allow responsible use of the stream for cleaning. Cabins have a rustic outdoor shower available May-October. Please inquire for camper vans and pop ups.
- FIREWOOD: Due to the threat of invasive pests, we ask that you do not transport wood onto the grounds. We have firewood for sale for $7 per crate. You can pick and crate your wood at the wood pile on the grounds at your convenience. Please bring cash if possible or get in touch at the end of your stay to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.
-We have a variety of wildlife in the area, including BLACK BEARS. Please follow 'Leave No Trace' protocols and be mindful of trash and food throughout your stay. Keep your coolers in your vehicles and take garbage to the dumpster frequently. We have a dumpster available to you on the grounds.
-Check in is contactless. Upon booking, you will receive directions to your site.

Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only.
Little Elk Lake is 43 acres.
Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags.
Rowboat plus 1 youth kayak, two adult kayaks and a canoe are available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes.
We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake!
We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot.
The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY!

Cabins have a rustic outdoor shower available May-October. Please inquire for camper vans and pop ups.
- FIREWOOD: Due to the threat of invasive pests, we ask that you do not transport wood onto the grounds. We have firewood for sale for $7 per crate. You can pick and crate your wood at the wood pile on the grounds at your convenience. Please bring cash if possible or get in touch at the end of your stay to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.
-We have a variety of wildlife in the area, including BLACK BEARS. Please follow 'Leave No Trace' protocols and be mindful of trash and food throughout your stay. Keep your coolers in your vehicles and take garbage to the dumpster frequently. We have a dumpster available to you on the grounds.

We stayed at Dark Sky retreat for a few nights and even in January after a giant snow storm it was so lovely and cozy! The woodstove and heater keep the home nice and toasty. Kevin and Amy are very communicative hosts if you any questions at all they respond quickly. The hot tub is awesome even in the below freezing temperatures and there was not a single thing we needed or forgot to bring that the house didn’t have prepared for us! The kitchen is very well stocked with supplies and everything was very clean. The stars are very visible even with not totally clear sky’s. very close to Elk Mountain which is great for beginner skiers. 10/10 recommend staying here

Our girls camping trip to Camp Dietrich this weekend was amazing. Scott met us upon arrival and gave us a full rundown of the campground! The checkpoint shed had everything we needed, wood was ready to buy, and the Coleman stove made cooking every meal so easy. The creek beside our campsite was absolutely magical, and yes, I even took a cold plunge. The tent was super spacious, comfy bunk beds, and the heater kept us warm all night. We hiked to the waterfalls on-site, which were unreal. Already counting down to bringing the kids this summer. Highly recommend, 10/10.

The Cabin with No Name exceeded every expectation we had. The awesome book selection, incredibly comfortable bed, the amazing shower, the vast land of trails behind it all paired with quirky/cozy decor are only a few of the warm takeways from this experience. Kat swiftly responded to us and answered all our questions promptly. We enjoyed it here so much we decided to extend our trip in the middle of it. It's obvious the care, attention and love that was put into this place. It truly felt like our home away from home. Would absolutely return here.

My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed for two nights at “a creek runs through it” and had a wonderful time. Scott was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you forgot to pack something, there’s a good chance you can borrow it from the check point shed. The site itself was gorgeous and very private. You really can “be one with nature” here. I look forward to visiting again once it warms up, to fully take advantage of the creek and some swimming.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Allen and the kids, and had such a pleasant experience. He drove out belongings and some of us down the the glamping site and was kind and welcoming. The tent was clean, comfortable and warm. We had all the firewood we needed, cooking supplies, composting toilet in the outhouse, water. My husband and I had a great time with our son and teenage nephews. Highly recommend the beautiful surrounding scenery of the lake and woods and wildlife. I didn’t get to meet Donna, but she is very friendly and communicative. Thank you for a great stay!

The cabin itself was perfect for a weekend getaway having all the essentials needed and some nice extras like the hot tub and sauna. The area was incredibly beautiful and close to a cute little town. Despite some travel issues, we were met with kindness and flexibility, which show how amazing they were at hosting! We also got some very good local recommendations :) we’ll definitely be back!

We loved our stay at Kat’s land in her cozy and quaint cottage. It has the perfect layout for sleeping, relaxing by the fireplace, making food (and roasting smores!) We couldn’t have picked a more perfect time to visit - the fall colors were on full display. I selected to have fresh eggs and two bundles of firewood which was very convenient. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of fresh towels and blankets for all. We loved how stocked the bookcase was with books and games for all ages! The best part of the cabin was getting to hike down to the small creek and trails. It was just perfect and the whole house is quite convenient to town. We enjoyed our stay!

We spent the weekend for my wife’s birthday and it was absolutely perfect, the location, the layout everything about it was so well laid out. Heather even put up a Happy Birthday banner in the tent for when we arrived.

This glamping tent was PERFECT!!! Donna, Alan, and Tyrion 🐱 were perfect hosts. The heater in the tent was great for the colder nights and my puppy loved the land to sniff around. Very close to Rickette’s Glen state park and local to some cidery’s and winery’s. We even checked out a drive-in movie when we were there. If you’re looking to unplug and to have some privacy, this is perfect :)

We such a groovy time at Hippies Haven. The hosts thought of every detail to make our stay special. Loved the hot tub and listening to records while sitting by the fire. The heater keep the room nice and toasty. View is spectacular and it was so sweet to wake up to a deer family grazing in the yard.

The serenity of the wind and trees, tranquility of the pond, the sight of the crackling campfire, sounds of birds chirping, roosters crowing, and critters scurrying about in the fallen leaves - and the calm of morning, with stillness sitting all around you. It is just so peaceful. Being in nature feeds your soul. We will absolutely be back! 🍂

Amazing hosts and location. The campsite was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the place is very well maintained. The tent was dry and held heat well- although there's a propane heater, we didn't need it despite the temps being in the 40s at night. It rained a lot the first night but the tent remained dry thanks to the additional covering over the tent area. The foam mattresses were extremely comfortable. I live with chronic back pain and slept very well. The bedding was clean and plenty warm enough (sheets, comforter, extra large fleece blanket). There is a camping lamp provided for the tent, covered area, and bathroom. There are 4 camping chairs beneath each bed in the tent and some extra in the supply shed. I read reviews that said you really only need to bring your clothes and food...that's pretty much right. The supply shed has just about everything else you need. The place was so serene, we didn't see or hear anyone else, only the sound of the moving water. The hosts were amazing and even provided us with additional items we forgot and pumped my flat tire when we were ready to leave. I've already booked it again for next year!

we had the best weekend at paper mill pines. as people who don’t usually camp, we felt so safe, welcomed, and totally looked after. the hosts were incredible, so kind and genuine the entire time.
the site had everything we could have needed, even after overpacking. the coleman bundle was a must, the bluetooth speaker somehow lasted the whole trip, and the firewood supply never ended. the bathroom was spotless, and the 4x4 drive into the site made it feel like a real little adventure.
just a heads up for t-mobile users, there’s no service, so download your playlists ahead of time. our group of five left with full hearts, full stomachs, and so many good memories. can’t recommend this place enough

Great set up! I didn’t need to bring anywhere near as much as I did, they have a lot there for you. I wish I had packed more shoes/socks because my kids played by the water and jumped around on the rocks almost the entire time. Single mom here and have to say I felt very safe/comfortable camping at this site with my 3 kids (ages 6, 10, & 12).
