I am a nature lover and enjoy everything that the Pacific Northwest has to offer -- the mountains, unlimited hiking and biking trails, beautiful lakes and rivers. Not to mention the abundance of good IPAs, coffee and delicious food. Over the years, I camped in several places in the area and always dreamed of owning a cabin near Mt. Hood. Located on Mount Hood about an hour from Portland, Zigzag Mountain Farm is home to an organic garden, old homestead, house, yurts, and barn. 50 acres of open meadows and forest, bordering thousands of acres of national forest.
The farm is home to an organic garden, campfire circle, picnic area, a city bus with a campers' kitchen, outdoor seating area with BBQ, kids play structure and hiking trails.
The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging.
The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen.
A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail.
Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

My husband, Chandler and I were both lucky enough to have grown up in the beautiful Mt. Hood area. Now with hard work and determination we are raising our five children in this magical place. A few years ago Chandler sold a large portion of his company and we purchased our rustic log cabin. We love the idea of sharing our peaceful cabin and property with the world! We recently decide to put our primary home on the site, to allow us to catch up on our debt. We are so thankful that both our places are loved by our guests. Your views will be of trees, mountains, the creek and waterfall. The cabin is far enough away from our home so you will have privacy and seclusion. It is a short but very uphill hike from the parking area. When you arrive, feel free to find your way up to the cabin. You may want to pack light as it is a bit of a hike! Linens and blankets will be provided for the King size bed.

Marmot House is a lush 13 acres of mostly old growth forest in the foothills of Mt. Hood, right on the Historic Oregon Trail. It is close to hiking, biking, and forested waterfalls a short drive away. We have beautiful short hikes on trails in our forest on the property.
Each campsite is tucked in the woods and has access our communal fire pit at our gathering space, where campfires are available (unless fire danger is at the extreme level) even when all other campgrounds are restricted. Our well water tastes amazing!
The is not a developed campground, it is our home. We see ourselves as stewards of this hidden forest gem and welcome people to enjoy its beauty.
This season we will open a farm stand for campers with produce from our garden and delicious baked treats for sale.

Pull up and let the vacation begin. The Lake Billy Chinook area has everything for the perfect camp trip. There is bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, swimming, kayaking, lounging and enjoying nature.
When you arrive just park in your site. We have 30-amp service but no RV septic hookup. The site is gravel so you may need to level your rig.
We have a fantastic outdoor area complete with couch, loungers, BBQ and fire pit. The high desert offers some of the most amazing views of the Cascade Mountains with clear blue skies and some of the best star gazing around. Casa del Lago is a dark sky site. There is a fantastic view of Mount Jefferson from the couch and the sunsets are absolutely beautiful.
During the Summer we usually enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool comfortable nights. You can hang out down at the lake and find a spot on the beach to have a picnic. You can also bring your boat or rent one at the Cove Palisades Marina and enjoy water sports.

There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The main bedroom, with a queen bed, has its own bathroom. The second bedroom also has a queen bed and an annex bedroom with both a full size bed and a trundle below. There is also the upstairs loft space, which has two full sized beds each with their own trundle bed. In addition, there is a bonus space downstairs with it own full sized day bed that stays nice and cool in the summer, but needs a little pre-heating in the winter months to be comfortable for most folks. Our family’s favorite thing about the main floor bedrooms is their proximity to the sounds of the creek.

Fantastic spot! Will definitely be back in the future. Great hosts, tons of privacy and river access is great! Bed was clean and comfy with no issues getting to sleep and the cabin stays plenty warm. If you have mobility issues do take note that there is a slightly (maybe 0.2 miles or so) of a walk to the campsites with a slightly steep hill but it wasn’t a big issue at all and the paths/signage are very well maintained. River access also has sand which makes it very nice when accessing. Overall 10/10 camping spot and worth every single penny! 👍

Easily one of the best camping experiences we’ve had. Absolutely stunning walk to the cabin, and our own private beach leading up to the stream. We added on a cooking bundle and firewood which we’re waiting for us upon arrival! I cannot recommend this spot enough, you will not regret it!

Just the nicest people with the best energy offering a very simple cabin. I arrived late, and Jim and Ahren went above and beyond to accommodate me. Their patch of old growth was buzzing with native bees sampling the pioneer violets, trillium and wood sorrel when I visited in the spring. All the facilities were clean and accessible. The cabin had a beautiful view of the trees and the air mattress was large and comfortable. Simple amenities, solar lamps and no other electricity. A small table and chairs. A short walk to the pit toilet and shared fire pit. It seemed like we were the only ones besides Jim on the land for our stay and it was super quiet. It would be really great if there was another outside chair or a taller outside table to use the campstove, but we managed just fine and had a very nice stay.

My family suffered a devastating and tragic loss of our five month old frenchie this last January, being at home felt like torture. I knew that we needed to escape reality for a little bit, maybe a little bit of a reset. I figured that was what my family needed. I found this cabin just looking on Google, I booked it for the next month and let me tell you the minute we got there felt like heaven. It is absolutely beautiful, hearing the river while sitting in the hot tub in the middle of the night, waking up to the birds chirping right outside the door. They had a stack of firewood, ready for the indoor fireplace, which we use the entire time we were there! We were able to bring all three of our dogs, who enjoyed every minute of it as well. I definitely plan to book this cabin again for the summer months! I would definitely recommend this to all of my family and friends!
