This is a large private site that is surrounded by old growth timber and teaming with flora and fauna. Campers are encouraged to explore, but be aware, this property is wild.. and encounters with wildlife are common. Beyond the adventuring that can be done on the property, Baker Beach state park is less than a half a mile away and there is a plethora of trails, parks, and lakes within 10 miles. We do have full time neighbors just to the North, so we ask that you be respectful and cautious with regard to dogs/noise. Hwy 101 can be very dangerous for unsuspecting pets. There are several roadside campfire stations(directly across 101 from camp) offering small bundles for $5-6/night. **Be advised that we are slowly working on the property to eventually create more camping space. Your 10 acre campsite is private for you and your guests. So let your pets off the leash, laugh, play music, have fun! There are many unimproved roads to access our creeks, springs, ponds and lake or enjoy the deer paths. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking. You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. We absolutely love Cathryn's beautiful hipcamp on the Umpqua River in Roseburg. We went in late October so the weather was chilly and it rained a lot but we made the best of it. We had the entire campground to ourselves and just a few steps away from the most breathtaking river scene. My son enjoyed fishing and saw many huge salmon but unfortunately he didn't catch one next time perhaps. We have a 31ft RV and our friends had a smaller RV there are no hookups but that's how we love and enjoy camping. It is very peaceful with wild turkeys that ventured into our camps. There are no strict rules on dogs off leash which are pups love to explore and run around and frolic in the water it was amazing. Cathryn came by once to introduce herself and to answer any questions that we may have had. She also mentioned that they are going to do some improvements to the camp to get down to the water more accessible. Its all a work in process but it's beautiful just the way it is. We can't wait to book for the summer because there are many deep pools there to swim in. The only suggestion that I would have would be to move the front gate further down so that when you pull out of the gate you're not on the main road where it could potentially be dangerous. To be honest I really don't want to say too many great things about this place lol because we would love it to remain a secret 😜 It is definitely in the books for springtime. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

What a great space! Getting there can be a little tricky since the Maps directions are just a little off and the gate is hard to spot from highway, but if the three of us can pull it off- anyone can! Lots of room for group camping. For its proximity to 101, the site is quiet and feels secluded. Port-a-potty was clean, the fire pit was perfect, and overall we had a great time. Would definitely return.

Where the property sits relative to the highway, lake, and ocean. Currently you can't make it to Lilly lake or the ocean through the property. To access Lilly lake please go down Baker Beach Rd and take the Lilly Lake loop. Our property consists of 5 acres of wetland is dangerously swampy to try and hike all the way through to the lake.

Easy access, private, spot right off of 101. If traffic noise bothers you, this might not be the right spot for you. But, I’ve tent camped here twice and our group always has a good time. Quieter in the evening and you can hear the ocean in the distance. Great for big groups and dogs. Clean and routinely maintained porta potty. Will definitely stay again!

There were so many options where to set up my tent. There's a fire pit, a picnic table, and a porta-potty with lights installed. There is a house next door but I never heard or saw anyone. Megan was very friendly and approved my request to stay there pretty quick. There are pay showers at 37th Street Coin Laundry ($4.00), and a huge Fred Meyers within a 10 minute drive from camp right as you get to Florence. I could hear the cars on the road earlier in the day, but after 10 pm I barely heard it, and slept like a baby all through the night. Between the creeking of the gate when opening, and having neighbors right there added an element of safety for me at night, and my gear if I left for a bit. I really did feel spoiled. It was perfect for me at that point on my road trip down the coast. I highly recommend it.

This was the perfect spot to pitch our tent, have a little fire and get some sleep! There is a picnic table and nice fire pit as well as decently soft and mostly flat ground area for a tent. The trees are amazing, very private area and was easy to find, even in the dark as we arrived fairly late.

Beautiful view overlooking the river. Very peaceful and great for bird watching. Location is also ideal for a Bandon weekend! Close to the lighthouse, beach, town, and mountain biking trails.

Lovely site. Lots of options we found a site under the Hawthorne trees need the river. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, it might be less desirable if there more campers. Some sites are a little too open for my taste esp since it was quite warm the day we arrived. Porta potty was very clean. River access clearly marked and a dip in the cold water made the heat more bearable.

We loved this place! The natural beauty of the land and river is just fantastic. We made camp right by the river access trail. It was a very hot day and after a long drive, the river was a delightful way to cool off! We along with our dog swam and played in the water for quite a while decompressing from the day’s journey. Cathryn came and welcomed us and made sure we felt at home. We will definitely come back on our way up north. This was a perfect spot for our sprinter van as access was very easy.

Huge forest grove all to ourselves! Drive north for less than one minute for one of the best coastal views we’ve seen in our many travels. The porta-potties were the cleanest ever. So know that this site is right off the highway, but we noticed that at night there’s very little traffic, and the location can’t be beat. For some the road noise might be a bit much but we really didn’t mind. The site is nice and private, with a big picnic table and fire ring and plenty of level places to set up a tent or an RV. We will definitely return to this one.

Our names are David and Nicole, this is a bit of our story. We were going through all that stuff and conversations that you do, when you know your spirit needs a big shift. It took two years and we narrowed it down to two choices both included letting go of "things" and the life we both thought we were working towards. In July of 2017 we closed escrow on our second choice, we purchased a neglected 1949 roadside motel and RV park in Bandon, OR. We haven't looked back and each day we pour our hearts out to revive the property. Some days you notice what still needs to be done there are many plans to make our vision whole, but most times you just notice the little things and it feels comfortable and welcoming.
