Welcome 2026 Hipcampers!
We have many exciting changes for our guests this year! Along with the geodesic dome, RV sites, wood-fires sauna, store, and cafe added last season, this year we will have 3 stargazer tents! Brand new tents at sites 1, 2, and 6- all Stargazers. Spend the night looking at the stars from the comfort of your own bed.
We will also be adding more DIY tent spots as the season progresses, so keep an eye out for those as well.
And, look at the option available for booking the whole property for retreats, group camping trips, weddings, or anything else. Ask about the added bonuses for booking the whole property.

Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington. It's home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River with a swimming hole, & a short distance further to the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, a container of water for each site.

Lovely camping setup. Very nice to have a bathroom with running water. It was pretty muddy, but that's to be expected when camping in the rain in February. Super easy process, every thing was self explanatory.

The sites are all very unique. We loved out stay. Lots of salmon making a run up river right now. It was very cool to watch the salmon and also a big group of kayakers going by. Sites were clean. Wish we would have added the sauna add on. They looked really neat.

Great little campground for campers! We brought our travel trailer out for a weekend trip so we could be near Hood River And this campground was great for us. Nicely wooded, small little spots that fit our camper and had space for a table and fire ring. There was a playground near the office that my 3yo enjoyed. Plus the beautiful drive to get there along the gorge. Definitely recommended!

Lovely campsite with rows of hazelnut trees, friendly golden retriever Paisley, cute goats munching fallen apples, and sociable horses. Kind owner shared great tips on nearby spots. Aurora’s a charming small town with antique shops and excellent eats—loved Filbert’s Farmhouse Kitchen and White Rabbit Bakery’s cinnamon rolls, coffee, and breakfast. Locals are welcoming. Note to campers: planes, trains, and automobiles—all can be heard till 11 PM and from 5 AM due to nearby road, airport, and railroad; bring earplugs. Would return!

Tyla is an awesome host! I booked this very last minute and Tyla was very accommodating and understanding. The site was quiet, lots of natural sounds to fall asleep to. Only think I wished I was aware of beforehand is that the site was all gravel, which made pitching a tent difficult / not the most comfortable (I used a thin backpacking sleeping pad). Outside of that, the facilities were great, the cafe was a nice tough to go grab coffee in the morning, and the hiking trails nearby were great. Would definitely come back with a thicker mattress or to car camp! Thank you Tyla!

Site 5 was great for my small tent- just a cleared dirt space with a picnic table and umbrella. It had been very dry though and the space was *super* dusty from the fine dirt which got all over everything pretty quickly. Fortunately, it rained overnight on my first night there just enough to saturate and hold it down.

This is such a lovely spot at the confluence of the Wind River & the Little Wind River. Lots of space for all of our tents and vehicles. Also, the perfect spot for full moon camping and late night skyviews. The soaking & swimming are just dreamy. The composting toilet was really clean. Thank you for sharing this treasure.

I stayed at site #06 in my high roof 4x4 sprinter van. I was able to back all the way into this site, clearing the trees with plenty of room to spare. I used both the bathroom and the outdoor shower and they were both clean with the shower having plenty of hot water. There is a small airport near by as others have stated in their reviews and I did hear one small plane fly over head. I recommend a stay at Shane’s place.

This was a beautiful campground and a lucky find! On days when it was 100° on the river, we were tucked under the trees and able to keep cool-er 😀. Clean sites, excellent restrooms, cute store and very nice hosts. We will visit again!
