The property is 17 acres of enchanted forestland with 300ft of Sandy River frontage. Both sides of the river are part of the Enchanted Forest. Please note that all campsites are not accessible by vehicle and do involve a short walk from the parking area. Therefore, RV's/campers, rooftop tents, and camper vans are not ideal for this property. Bring your paddle board or kayak to enjoy the river (Dependent on river level/current strength) The property is located within 2 miles from the Sandy Ridge Mountain bike trails and Barlow Wayside hiking trails. It's approximately 20 minutes to Government camp, ~ 35 minutes to Timberline for skiing and biking and an additional ~ 15 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows. The Snowden Yurt was built by Tova's uncle Kirk and originally used as a backcountry ski destination in the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley, Idaho. It is built completely by hand, similar to the traditional Mongolian style, with hand-hewn rafters, hand-made door, and hand-stitched fabric. Kirk's distinctive skylight rounds out the peaceful dwelling. Kitchen facilities include a coffee maker, camp stove, grill, and outdoor sink. The unique, hand crafted bathhouse has a comfortable composting toilet and propane heated shower. Absolutely stunning campsite I would recommend to any one any time of year. We spent two nights here and are planning to come back later next year. Extremely friendly camp host and beautiful views of the mountains.

Irene's place is pure magic. I've stayed at some pretty unique and amazing Hip Camps, but this was most definitely in the top two. The yurt itself is so comfortable and cozy; nothing like what you would get at a state park. The wood stove kept us warm all night, and the bed/sheets/pillows were heavenly. We unfortunately had an overcast night, so we didn't get to enjoy the stars (although I have no doubt that this would be a phenomenal stargazing location), but we did get to fall asleep to the sounds of owls all around us. Irene has put so many little touches into her property/yurt that make it feel like you are in another land, yet you're so close to the adorable city of Hood River, or The Dalles for bigger box stores. Please be sure to walk up the hill to find the bench by the tree. The views are spectacular! Thank you Irene, for everything. I hope to come back in every season. :)

The yurt was large and private, and had great mood lighting. We were able to warm the yurt up quickly with the wood stove and it kept us warm through the night. The bed was very comfortable. Irene was quick responding back to me. We had a wonderful stay for my husbands birthday!

駐車場からキャンプサイトまで行く最初の坂がちょっと急ですが、すぐ横に綺麗な川が流れていたので行く価値がありました。 Camp B に泊まりましたが、六人がけのテーブルが２つ、ファイヤーピットが一つあり、2組の家族でも十分な広さでした。チェックイン時、チェックアウト時は特にオーナーと会うことはなかったですが、メッセージですぐに反応があったので安心しました。

A wonderful stay at the Cupcake Yurt. Irene and Bill’s land is beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy it with including a Great Horned Owl and a pack of coyotes. We enjoyed the little town of Lyle and even ran into Bill at the Confluence Cafe while sipping coffee and watching Bald Eagles on the Columbia. Having the convenience of a compost toilet, a small sink and well water with the peace of being off grid was the perfect way to disconnect for the weekend.

I needed a last minute escape from the city and took a chance–this was my first experience using Hipcamp! I brought my dogs, Lewis and Luna, on a fall day with very mixed weather. Irene met us and was SO lovely and informative. We felt so welcome. They set up a fire in the wood stove ahead of our arrival, 🥹 so the yurt was warm and cozy when we opened the doors. It had everything we needed and a lot more! I was so moved by the rolling grasslands and the oak and pine woodlands we explored. We didn't mind the weather and can't wait to come back as a family! 👩‍❤️‍👨 🐶 🐶 Next time, we'll [remember to] bring the dogs 50-foot leashes to give them a bit more freedom to explore during our hikes. For what its worth, we completely agree with the leash policy. Our dogs get around, but they live in a city. They both have high prey drives 🐇🐿️ and would not do well with an off-leash wildlife encounter. 🦌🐓🫣 We also understand there are kids nearby and Luna is afraid of small, unpredictable humans. 🤦 We're working on it. 😅 They did meet our old 'host dog' briefly! All were respectful and curious. 🐾 We hope they feel welcome to stop by again next time we're around! Final note: I'm glad we brought extra towels. We came during tick season–something the house manual mentions. There were plenty but it wasn't a big problem. The dogs get a monthly flea and tick treatment and we just picked them off. Thank you so much for hosting us Irene & Bill! 🙏✨

This was our second stay and it was even better than our first. The location is so peaceful and if you’re looking for rest and rejuvenation, this is it. The view from the hill is spectacular. Our kids loved the trail and staying toasty in the yurt with the wood stove. Absolutely plan to return again!

The hosts were thoughtful in setting up the space and left extra bedding and notes to help us navigate the space. The yurt is right off a main road and next to other houses which made us feel extra comfortable and safe. We appreciated the opportunity to stay in this beautiful little spot.

Weekend Trip to Mt. Hood Enchanted Forest

Great spot by the river! Be prepared to trek down a hill with your stuff and then get to relax next to the sound of the bubbling Sandy River. Glad they had carts but definitely not the spot for anyone with bad knees or unable to wrangle a cart down a decent slope. The sites are clean and spacious with wonderful tent spots. I recommend renting the propane fire pit, propane stove, and kitchen bin to enjoy warmth and cooking with ease. The sounds of the river blend with the traffic so that you feel you’ve escaped but know you’re not too far from civilization. Great hiking nearby as well as the quaint city of Sandy which is filled with cute shops and delicious sounding restaurants.

It is a lovely campsite on the farm with chickens and pigs. The marketstand offering fresh fruits and veggies was a delightful way to supplement breakfast and dinner. There is a friendly neighborhood dog very excited to meet new friends. Even though the farm is recovering from a fire, you could hardly tell from the camping itself.
