This is a great location if you are traveling or road tripping to any destination along the West Coast of North America! Take a day trip to Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. We also recommend that you visit the Galesville reservoir about 5 minutes up the road. The yurt has a queen sized loft bed with cotton sheets, a warm cotton comforter with duvet cover, a woodstove, and a folding mattress. You are also welcome to bring your own sleeping gear. *LEAVE NO TRACE, just as you would when camping = please pack out your own trash* There is a wood stove for the winter months, a solar powered refrigerator, a propane stove and oven, along with a sink, and kitchen countertop space. Basic kitchen ware like: utensils, plates, bowls, Italian stove top coffee maker, off grid blender, cooking pots, pans, etc. We provide plant based dish soap, hand soaps, and shampoo. Three waterfalls, the Prospect Cafe, and the Historic Hotel are all within a two-mile radius. If you're after that famous pie at Beckie's Cafe, you are 10 minutes close. Our 100 acre ranch allows us to host guests in their own RV's, at camp/tent sites, or in our new A-frame Cabin all located in private, and even secluded, sites. Several well maintained trails wind throughout the property and can be enjoyed by guests. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking, wildlife viewing, and the beautiful ponds and woods. Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. Weekend Trip to Crater Lake Private Woodlands

Such an amazingly gorgeous spot! We felt like we were in a movie. So glad we went in the fall. So many beautiful colors. Russel, the ranch manager was very accommodating and professional. I can’t wait to go back. We did have some rain while we were there and since you have to remove your shoes before entering the cabin, it would be nice to put a shoe tray on the floor for our shoes because the awning on the front door is too small to protect our shoes from rain if left outside. My daughter also thinks some battery or solar string lights inside the cabin would be a nice touch. But all in all it was fabulous. We slept so good. We did a 6 mile hike to the gorge and It was just so incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Thank you.

3 nights at Crater Lake Private Woodlands

Stayed in the A-frame cabin and were so grateful for the sweet getaway. Loved being surrounded by nature while having all the creature comforts ready for us- couple of lanterns, bedding, a propane bbq, very clean porta-potty just a short walk away. The site was easy to find and walk around the pond was lovely. We even had great cell service (Verizon and AT&T)! Day trip to Crater Lake was stunning! Would definitely recommend!

What a beautiful spot! The stark contrast between a hi-tech unit set in a remote nature space is awesome. 🤩 The deer in the yard & sunrise behind the trees was beautiful! Stars are super visible & there are multiple waterfall hikes nearby & it’s only 30 min outside Eugene. We appreciated the local info the host provided & the Nespresso & top tier toiletries & snacks. The shower & Biobedet & everything LED was just so cool! We will definitely be back again!

Absolutely delightful. The site was adorable and so well maintained. We had fresh water when we arrived, access to a grill, a hammock. Porta potty is so clean, and the site spacious, and next to a lovely pond and trail. We hated to leave!

Loved staying here with my pup! It’s peaceful and very comfortable. Also the WiFi worked great for meetings etc. while I worked remotely. James and Linda really care about their guests and it shows!

Weekend Trip to Rosehip Mountain

We stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it! The renovated school bus was cozy and unique, with everything we needed. Perfect spot for visiting Crater Lake, and Caitlyn was a great host. Highly recommend!

3 nights at Winberry Walden

Staying ath Winberry Walden was a dream come true. The remote location hearing on nature, the river in the backyard, and the wild life around was so wonderful. The hosts, James and Linda provide every comfort one would need inside their glamping studio, which is really a VERY cozy stay with a mini split, a kitchenette, and stylish bathroom that is wonderful to warm up in! The near by river with private swimming holes, hikes around the property were so much fun too. We will be retunring and cannot recommend this stunning get away for anyone looking for a nature retreat. Not to mention how close they are too from a really cool lake that was nearly empty in the middle of summer. This is such a hidden gem of a place! We cannot wait to see what James and Linda keep doing with this property and opening up more spaces to people to enjoy this beatiful location. My only complaint is that I had to go home. ;) Thank you, James and Lind!

Wonderful and unique Hipcamp. The a-frame is cozy and right next to a beautiful pond (with lots of frogs!). Tons of blackberry bushes make for a delicious mid-August snack

The most amazing Hipcamp close to the unique south Umpqua falls, where we spent 2 days. Dan, Janet, Levi and the whole family were extremely friendly and helpful and made the trip unforgettable

Stay was amazing! Property was beautiful and location was perfect for my trip to crater lake! Caitlyn was so accommodating. The site was clean and the bus was so much fun! The out door hot shower was perfect and is a major highlight of the property! Would recommend to anyone! 10/10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautifully built A-frame cabin—spotless, fully stocked as described in the listing and surrounded by peaceful seclusion. The land has great trails for exploring, and we felt completely tucked away from the world. Daniel and Russell were incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Can’t wait to return!
