Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. There is a full bathroom and amenities to include fridge, microwave, coffee pot and air fryer just a short walk away! Dishes are not included and cooking utensils are very limited. Winter sports galore up here right now! Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ample parking for snow mobile trailers! OR bring your favorite book and come enjoy a peaceful restful weekend! Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! It is apx 30 minutes away. In the summertime come up and enjoy the hiking! Sleeping Beauty trail is just a few minutes away and you are within 30 minutes or Hood River if you are looking to explore and check out wineries. There are cheese caves, ice caves, Goose Lake, Council Lake and so much more! Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Hood River fishery has been amazing and the fall colors can't be beat! There is a fire pit and campfires are welcome when there is not a burn ban. Trout Lake Inn is a local favorite up here and check their Facebook to see what live entertainment they have coming up. Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area. Come enjoy the mountain air - it is good for the soul! **No parties - limit of 2 adult guests and up to 2 children. No illegal drugs. No smoking or vaping inside cabin or the bathroom/hospitality room.

Solar heated, unfiltered spring water is available at the site itself & spigots for cold spring water are available at the corral &farmstand. While our family finds this spring water safe & refreshing to drink from tap, keep in mind, it is UNfiltered thus classified as non-potable water that needs to be purified before drinking. This site offers a unique experience where you can take a closer look at farm life by encountering cows, pigs & free-range chickens. Feed them apples when available or even your left over food scraps! Don't forget to meet Petunia, our beloved free-range Kunekune pig. While shy at 1st, her affinity for snacks & belly rubs makes her favor easily earned. Beyond the farm, you'll find yourself perfectly situated just 1.5 miles east of Catherine Creek Rec. Area. So for everyone's safety, we have restricted access to only vehicles with 4WD or AWD only. Please do not message us asking us to advise on the vehicle you have. If someone in your party has a 2WD vehicle, they can park up in the entry lot and get shuttled down to the campsites in a 4WD vehicle. If we see a 2WD vehicle in the campground, we will ask you to leave and if we have to dig you out, we will charge a $200 fee. Thank you for respecting our policies and helping us maintain our space. DOG FRIENDLY: We are as dog friendly as it gets here. Unleashed dogs are allowed on this property down by the creek (on-leash required in and around the barn). If you have a fear of dogs, or have dogs that are not friendly with other people or fellow dogs, this probably isn't the right campground for you. Of course, we expect all dog owners to keep an eye on their pets so they don't disturb other campers or ingest anything they're not supposed to. QUIET HOURS: 10pm-9am. We ask that guests keep the noise (loud music and loud conversations) to a minimum between 10pm and 9am. We live onsite and will enforce these if we have to (please don't make us). NO FIREARMS, FIREWORKS OR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE USE. This is not a late night party campsite. This property is best enjoyed in the daylight and we encourage campers who want to take full advantage of the scenery, will abide by the quiet hours, and maintain a safe space for all. OTHER INFO: CELL SERVICE: There is an AT&T tower on our property so that gets the best service by far. Verizon is pretty good. T-mobile does not get reception here. There is high-speed internet up at the barn that is accessible with a Blue Barn Pass.

Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out. Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! Sleeping Beauty trail is just a few minutes away and you are within 30 minutes or Hood River if you are looking to explore and check out wineries. There are cheese caves, ice caves, Goose Lake, Council Lake and so much more! Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Hood River fishery has been amazing and the fall colors can't be beat! There is a fire pit and campfires are welcome when there is not a burn ban. Trout Lake Inn is a local favorite up here and check their Facebook to see what live entertainment they have coming up. Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area. Open for the 2025 Season Play in Hood River during the day, relax in the country at night. We're 6.5 miles up in the hills, called High Prairie, above the sleepy town Lyle. Enjoy the peace on our 5 acre hideaway, wake up with the chickens. Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips. The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, country cafe, Chinese restaurant, and new to our town "Confluence Cafe" right at the entrance by the Klickitat River - Awesome views - yummy treats and coffee. Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out. Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

Weekend Trip to The Forest Cupcake
Irene's place is pure magic. I've stayed at some pretty unique and amazing Hip Camps, but this was most definitely in the top two. The yurt itself is so comfortable and cozy; nothing like what you would get at a state park. The wood stove kept us warm all night, and the bed/sheets/pillows were heavenly. We unfortunately had an overcast night, so we didn't get to enjoy the stars (although I have no doubt that this would be a phenomenal stargazing location), but we did get to fall asleep to the sounds of owls all around us. Irene has put so many little touches into her property/yurt that make it feel like you are in another land, yet you're so close to the adorable city of Hood River, or The Dalles for bigger box stores. Please be sure to walk up the hill to find the bench by the tree. The views are spectacular! Thank you Irene, for everything. I hope to come back in every season. :)

Burke and Shannon are fantastic and friendly hosts, who live in an absolutely stunning location. This area is amazing in its beauty and outdoor activities, and they know some good spots to check out (thanks for the Salmon River trail tip!!). The RV spot was easy to back into, spacious, and had water/power in a convenient location. I will definitely be checking in the future to see if they are available when I’m in the area twice each year!

The forest view cabin was cozy. We went in winter so bring some extra blankets and you’ll be set. We loved the trails around the property and the goats were so cute. Tyla gave us great recommendations for local restaurants that were delicious and the little cafe in the house was a great added bonus. We also did the sauna and it was amazing.

Weekend Trip to The Forest Cupcake
A wonderful stay at the Cupcake Yurt. Irene and Bill’s land is beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy it with including a Great Horned Owl and a pack of coyotes. We enjoyed the little town of Lyle and even ran into Bill at the Confluence Cafe while sipping coffee and watching Bald Eagles on the Columbia. Having the convenience of a compost toilet, a small sink and well water with the peace of being off grid was the perfect way to disconnect for the weekend.

The sites are all very unique. We loved out stay. Lots of salmon making a run up river right now. It was very cool to watch the salmon and also a big group of kayakers going by. Sites were clean. Wish we would have added the sauna add on. They looked really neat.

I needed a last minute escape from the city and took a chance–this was my first experience using Hipcamp! I brought my dogs, Lewis and Luna, on a fall day with very mixed weather. Irene met us and was SO lovely and informative. We felt so welcome. They set up a fire in the wood stove ahead of our arrival, 🥹 so the yurt was warm and cozy when we opened the doors. It had everything we needed and a lot more! I was so moved by the rolling grasslands and the oak and pine woodlands we explored. We didn't mind the weather and can't wait to come back as a family! 👩‍❤️‍👨 🐶 🐶 Next time, we'll [remember to] bring the dogs 50-foot leashes to give them a bit more freedom to explore during our hikes. For what its worth, we completely agree with the leash policy. Our dogs get around, but they live in a city. They both have high prey drives 🐇🐿️ and would not do well with an off-leash wildlife encounter. 🦌🐓🫣 We also understand there are kids nearby and Luna is afraid of small, unpredictable humans. 🤦 We're working on it. 😅 They did meet our old 'host dog' briefly! All were respectful and curious. 🐾 We hope they feel welcome to stop by again next time we're around! Final note: I'm glad we brought extra towels. We came during tick season–something the house manual mentions. There were plenty but it wasn't a big problem. The dogs get a monthly flea and tick treatment and we just picked them off. Thank you so much for hosting us Irene & Bill! 🙏✨

Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature but has the comforts of home. The four lodging sites include 3 glamping tents and 1 gravel parking area with hookups for an RV or trailer (20' or less). To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. There is a large meadow with lawn games and two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back! The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 25 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - we have two superior rafting companies located nearby that can take you on a white water excursion down the White Salmon, and if wine is your thing, there are multiple opportunities for local tastings and tours. Waterfalls are abundant in this area and there are a ton of hikes to see them, ranging from easy to difficult. Many of our guests comment on how peaceful it is here and that they've never slept better - so, in order to keep this space as relaxing as possible, I do not allow children unless all three tents are rented by the same party. Children are allowed if staying in an RV or trailer that is hard-sided (ie, nobody will hear the tantrums - whether it's from a child or their parent!) Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have 5 of our own who live onsite and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. Our cats (Daisy, Marabelle, and Baby Meow Meow) are friendly and social, so if you have allergies, please just be aware that they might come up to you for a quick visit! We also have two young dogs (Blue who is Husky/Black Lab and Rooster who is Corgie/Blue Heeler). I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow, just know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out. While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to liability - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge. If you want to try your hand at fishing, there is a small trail that leads down to the water's edge near the River House - just beware of the poison oak. Our propane fire pits are communal - one is located next to the kitchen, and one is next to the river. Both have igniters, just read the directions for lighting. We do not allow individual fire pits, nor wood-burning fires due to the county-wide burn ban that is in effect every summer. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. If you're bringing substantial amounts of food/beverage, you should bring a cooler, as space in the fridge is limited. All food will need to be kept either in the refrigerator bins, or in your own cooler or bin that animals can't get into. I do not provide food products such as coffee, creamer, seasonings, oils, butter, etc - basically anything that could spoil. I do provide a limited number of k-cups for the Keurig, in case you just want a quick (if not that great) cup of coffee in the morning (please limit your use to 2 per person). I offer a 15% discount when all three tents are rented by the same party, so just send me a message if you're interested in bringing friends. I'm also open to hosting small weddings/events of 50 or less - we host our own events here every summer and it's been a hit so I'm offering it up to others as well. **** Dear Campers - we are so sad to share that our campsite has been devastated by the July 2025 Burdoin Fire. We are blocking off the listing for the remainder of the season as the land is charred and unsuitable for camping. We hope to fix up the land to open again next spring. In the meantime, we so appreciate everyone's support and well wishes!!! **** We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process! Once an old homestead. Learn more about this land:      Hello Hipcampers.  We do NOT sell firewood. Bring your own. Please read the whole description and understand the car/trailer length limits before booking.  32' (thirty-two feet)  means car and trailer, not just the trailer.   Smaller trailers like the teardrops or fifteen footers can be backed in easily, but if you're over 32 feet with vehicle the space to maneuver is too small.      Your camp site is under tall fir trees on fairly level ground. The site is next to a county road (see pictures), but traffic is very light. Next to your camp site is a 12x20 foot deck by a clear pond with beautiful trout and a running creek. A large picnic table is provided. It is a semi private location as the owners (us) also enjoy the pond and creek, and use the driveway. You can see the main house from the campsite but it's very quite.  There is absolutely NO fishing allowed in the pond!  The large trout in the pond are for your viewing enjoyment. 25cent fish food dispenser.      There is a clean privy; it's not fancy but it works and we use it when we're working outdoors.   We think you'll find it quite acceptable.  It's only a few yards from your camp site.      There is a fresh water spigot between the main house and the privy to fill water bottles or water for cooking.  Just lift the handle for water to flow.  Pour gray water in bushes away from the camp site.      Hipcampers ARE WELCOME to walk our big garden.  Simply walk past the privy, over the wooden bridge and through the white gate to see flower gardens, ponds, fruit trees, and berry bushes.   We love to share our space with you, however, we ask that you limit your garden walk to one time so that your walking experience is balanced with our desire for privacy. Keep gates closed and stay out of sheep paddocks.      Children:  This is a wonderful and fun place for children, but the waterwheel and ponds deserve your attention.  Keep children safely away from the waterwheel, and be next to them when viewing it.  You must be diligent if your children don't have experience with open water.  Please do not allow them to throw our landscaping rocks into the ponds as I have to dig them all out later.  For some reason kids love to throw rocks into ponds!  Just down the road only 100 yards, is a school playground with swings, basketball courts, tennis courts and a huge field to play on!  So bring your frisbee, soccer ball or any other field toys.      Don't leave food out at night!  That could attract unwanted furry visitors.  There is a healthy population of bear and cougar in this area.  These animals generally stay away from humans, but you should carry a horn or bear spray when hiking in the woods of the Columbia Gorge.        Go right to your camp site.  We may come greet you when you arrive if we're home, but then leave you alone to your own peace and quiet.       There is parking at the campsite for two vehicles side by side, or a car and trailer.   We may accommodate a third vehicle with prearrangement.      Camper Trailers:   The driveway is circular, so you can pull in at either entrance, get out  and take a look at how best to back your trailer into its spot.      Live music at your campsite is an experience we offer.  Great for kids!

First thing everyone should know is that we are under the landing approach to PDX. Some planes are quiet, and some are not. My wife, our farm pals, and I are used to it but, we want you to be aware. So, our property: coming in at roughly under 30 acres, Cold Springs Farm, established in 1885 and sits nestled in its own little valley. The farm's name is inspired by spring feeds a small pond at the Northeast Corner (near the Alder Site) that has crawdads, Mallards and Blue Heron. Of course, there are also curious Raccoons and Possums about. A canyon running the north of the property in known for its wildlife population including bear, deer and elk. Wherever you camp, you may hear someone moving through the forest at night. Although we are a short 30-minutes to Portland, our private farm is free from unwanted lights and traffic (save the intermittent air traffic), when the skies are clear, starwatchers who bring their telescopes have many vantage points from which they can indulge their hobby! Our wide-open field is great for kite flying, frisbee, doggie frolics, and it's also a great place to practice your drone piloting skills. Mid-July through early October you have access to pick as many blackberries as you want and they are delicious. Cold Springs Farm is also a sanctuary. Our current residents include our Kunekune Pigs: Chris P Bacon, Wilbur, Piggit, Hamish McBiscuit and Rowdy. The resident goats include Dolly, Freddy McNubbins, Princess Daisy, Mikey, Mildred, Marvin, Daphne, Booger, Cyra-Nose, and Delilah our big, gentle goat. Rounding out the bunch are our farm dogs, Oscar Braveheart, Hoppin' Howie and Lulu-bear our rescue Pyrenees and resident sweetheart. We look forward to welcoming to our Columbia River Gorge farm and introducing you to what our beautiful area has to offer. We are just minutes from many of the gorge waterfall hikes including the historic Multnomah falls and Vista House sitting on Crown Point. One of Oregon's favorite summer concert venues, McMenamins Edgefield, is a short 10 miles. And we have economy spots specifically for Mcmenamin Concert goers. Contact us for details. Our 10 acres are wooded with trails that connect to hundreds of miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking. The Columbia River Gorge has most every sport and leisure activity available. Our sweet town of White Salmon is 3 miles away and has all you need for entertainment, food, and supplies. The yurt bed is super comfy, and the bucket toilet is indeed a bucket, but gets the job done! Running water available, dogs encouraged.

Note: CLOSED UNTIL Nov. 1, 2025 You don't want to miss the views and stars at Olson Vista! It will be an experience you won't forget, You will take in the unforgettable views at sunrise and sunset of Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Swale Canyon, and wind turbines on the east horizon. The property is perched on the north side of Stacker Butte at 2,200 ft. elevation and includes a large homesite that is carved out of the side of the mountain which is perfect for campers, vans, a teardrop, or a small trailer. A sandy tent site is now available. It can be breezy, but it often makes it pleasant depending on the time of year. When the fire ban is not in effect, feel free to bring your solo stove to enjoy the evening. No firepit is available onsite. A 0.1 mile hiking trail will lead you to a meadow with more flowers and views, so bring your chairs. A small bench is already in the meadow. There is a scrub oak woods that you will walk through, and intermittent creek that is dry in the summer and fall. Feel free to explore around! We often see deer and other wildlife on the property so bring your binoculars for your viewing pleasure. A compost toilet is available onsite, and and we will instructions for those who stay. There is an outdoor shower that is not currently up and running. Water is not available as of yet. so make sure to bring your own. A picnic table is now available to use. If you are feeling up for it, walk up the hill 3/4 mile (1,000 ft of gain) to the top of Stacker Butte for more views which include the Columbia River! This leads into the trail systems of Columbia Hills State Park. The property is located 15 minutes from Lyle,, 25 minutes to White Salmon, and less than 30 minutes from Hood River which offer groceries and other amenities. There is an observatory in Goldendale. Additionally, the east end of the Klickitat trail is less than a mile from the property that includes biking and hiking. The property has a steep shared driveway with 1154 Centerville Hwy, so please be respectful and drive slow and use 4WD if available.
