After viewing the amazing star-filled night skies, fall into a deep relaxed sleep and wake up to birds singing, enjoy your coffee and a nature walk. This serene and quiet RV spot consists of an open space nestled in beautiful mixed woodlands of mature doug fir, cedar, pine and madrone on our 60 acre property (You won’t see our house or shop since these RV spot is on the other side of the property). RV space has 50 amp power, well water and RV sewer. Your own toilet is a must. Be prepared to “Pac-in, pack-out.”  This is a protected wilderness area. There’s a mix of sun and shade. At approximately 2600 ft elevation, a fresh gentle breeze significantly cools the late afternoon and evening summer temperatures. Most cell service carriers do get reception at this location, however, there is no WIFI. This can be a pull-through-and-around area. A long RV/trailer may need to make a y turn.  Short distance nature trails in the adjacent woodlands can be enjoyed in the immediate area. Private and protected forest woodlands, trails, wildlife, ponds, wildflowers, old growth timber and views. Unspoiled nature at its best! We are located in southern Oregon near Crater Lake NP, just off of hwy 62, part of the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway, more commonly known as the "highway of waterfalls" and near the little town of Prospect on what is known as the beautiful side of Crater Lake NP. Three waterfalls, the Prospect Cafe, and the Historic Hotel are all within a two-mile radius. If you're after that famous pie at Beckie's Cafe, you are 10 minutes close. Our 100 acre ranch allows us to host guests in their own RV's, at camp/tent sites, or in our new A-frame Cabin all located in private, and even secluded, sites. Several well maintained trails wind throughout the property and can be enjoyed by guests. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking, wildlife viewing, and the beautiful ponds and woods. Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. The site is equipped with motion sensor path lighting around the tent and also the along the path leading from the parking area to the cabin. There is something here for everyone, any time of year. Guest access: The entire property (10 acers) is for your use. The driveway is gated with use of a keypad for entry. Other Details: There is over 100 acres of BLM land adjoining our property on two sides with miles of trails to explore. Breathtaking river views abound. Let me start off by saying we loved our stay! It was peaceful and quiet, warm and cozy, and we had everything we needed. Our hosts had thought of so many details that made our stay such a pleasant experience and what we were hoping for. Fire pit with some wood, hotwater for awesome outdoor shower,coffee and basic kitchen needs, but also wonderful little details like robes for the shower, a simple map of the two trails we could walk and ice in the ice chest. Great hosts. Power went out once and they promptly got it fixed. Our only struggle was that it rained while we were there and we didn't get to spend as much time outside as we were hoping. The kitchen table didn't have a cover over it and so we couldn't use it while raining, (bringing a canopy for the rain would have been nice.) But we still had a nice dry and warm time in the cabin area. Excellent stay, will stay here again!

Such an amazingly gorgeous spot! We felt like we were in a movie. So glad we went in the fall. So many beautiful colors. Russel, the ranch manager was very accommodating and professional. I can’t wait to go back. We did have some rain while we were there and since you have to remove your shoes before entering the cabin, it would be nice to put a shoe tray on the floor for our shoes because the awning on the front door is too small to protect our shoes from rain if left outside. My daughter also thinks some battery or solar string lights inside the cabin would be a nice touch. But all in all it was fabulous. We slept so good. We did a 6 mile hike to the gorge and It was just so incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Thank you.

Stayed in the A-frame cabin and were so grateful for the sweet getaway. Loved being surrounded by nature while having all the creature comforts ready for us- couple of lanterns, bedding, a propane bbq, very clean porta-potty just a short walk away. The site was easy to find and walk around the pond was lovely. We even had great cell service (Verizon and AT&T)! Day trip to Crater Lake was stunning! Would definitely recommend!

What a beautiful private location. If you have dogs and don’t want to leash them this is the perfect spot. It’s a cute little romantic cabin with a view of the river. The pellet stove was perfect for the crisp fall mornings and the hammock and lounge chairs were a nice surprise to enjoy the afternoons. We had everything we needed and the outdoor shower was a wonderful experience. I’d love to come back another weekend to this amazing place.

Joy’s residence was such a pleasure to stay at! We booked both Pine Camp sites and stayed with friends. The 3rd site (Dave’s Camp) wasn’t booked but even if it was, the sites are fairly separated and the Pine Camp sites would have still felt completely private. There is a nice little trail behind the camp sites that the dogs enjoyed, and plenty of shade for hanging out and relaxing! Joy was so friendly, communicative, and was flexible with us when we requested leaving slightly later than normal checkout time (since no one coming in after us). The sites were well set up, clean, and had a cute, cozy vibes to them! As others have stated, the sewer hookup is on the front side of the site and the electric and water is on the back. We chose to wait to hook up sewer and just dumped the tanks right before leaving. The water spigot is set back aways from the site, we had extra hoses so it was no trouble but you will need some hose length (50’) to reach! A wonderful experience and our next trip to the Crater Lake area we will no doubt request to stay with Joy again!

Camping on Daniel’s land was simple and peaceful! He gave great, easy to follow directions to get to the site and it was just as described! The site was well maintained, had a picnic table, and was in a very peaceful, quiet location! Definitely recommend for those not needing anything special and a quick spot to camp at within close proximity to Crater Lake National Park! Daniel was also very responsive and available for questions :)

Walk along this path and hear the eeps of the frogs jumping with each step.. The perfect spot to view wildlife in Woodlands and Turtle Pond.

We booked the RV site at Turtle Pond. Had no trouble finding it with the detailed instructions. We were however surprised at how close all the sites were to one another and that the porta potty was shared. While we hoped for more seclusion we still enjoyed the space and appreciated that the gravel parking pad was level resulting in a good night's sleep.

This is an awesome place. Quiet, clean, serene and safe. Close to Crater Lake and many many Rogue River hikes. Our host, Joy was responsive, welcoming and informative. Sites are clean, level, full hook up tucked under pine trees. Cell service is adequate but we have starlink too. I just cannot say enough nice things.
