We have two finished studio cabins. They are very close (2 miles) to the town of Mount Vernon, OH with hiking trails on the property. Pets are allowed but there are free range animals on the property so their safety is priority. We have added a 2 acre fenced in area for dogs off leash. It's our version of a Dog Park. Plenty of bike trails around town and only 20 miles to Mohican State Park. Farm fresh eggs from our rescued chickens and local honey are available for purchase. Money from our vacation rental helps with feeding our rescue animals and expanding our non-profit animal sanctuary.

McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns. Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep. Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We really enjoyed our stay at the A-frame. It was very quite and private. The fishing pond was stocked with voracious pan fish and bass, which my daughter thoroughly enjoyed. There was plenty of open space for my dog to explore. Inside the cabin was very clean and comfortable. I really liked the back deck and the view of the trees. We'd absolutely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat

We just happened upon the Cherokee Bison Ranch at the last minute and it was meant to be. This site was the best Hipcamp site we’ve stayed at. What a special spot. Carie and Jarrod are warm, knowledgable and thoughtful hosts and my family of four enjoyed every minute learning about the bison, seeing the peacocks up close, and walking the expansive and peaceful property. The tipi was very comfortable and the site has lots of thoughtful touches like a percolator for coffee, a large container of water and tub for washing dishes, and a very clean and easy to use toilet. We biked around the nearby Buckeye Lake and made sure to taste a bison burger over the fire. We will definitely be back!!!

I enjoyed my stay. I liked the deck in the back of the cabin. I'm glad I brought a good pair of hiking boots and warm blankets. As long as you not a person who expects their cabins to be hootell room then I think you will like it. If you are a tent camper and don't wanna worry about pitching tent this perfect or if you are used to glamping and wanna try something less polished this good for that to.

The kids loved the teepee and we had a great time, but sadly we didn’t stay our second night because it rained ALL day. However we really liked the area and the site and teepee. We plan on returning another time.

Perfect blend of feeling completely off grid and private while being able to go into town nearby and get your essentials. Jeff and Susan were very attentive as host and have laid out a site that has been one of my favorites so far on HipCamp. My only heads up an insider tip would be if you foresee it raining during your stay plan to bring some shoe or boot covers for walking through the woods on the trail to your site.

Weekend Trip to Sacred Tree Sanctuary in Newark, OH

We had a wonderful time camping on Maryam’s beautiful property. I booked the site for a bachelorette party weekend with old friends, so there were about 10 of us, and this was an excellent choice. The guest of honor stayed in the yurt, which was clean and well decorated. The bathroom by the yurt site was clean and peaceful, a much more substantial structure than what we were expecting. There’s a loop you can hike through the property and a highlight for me was roaming around with my coffee, noticing the different wildflowers and birds. Our hosts were available to respond to our needs but also very respectful of our space. Everything was clean and well kept and the spot was easy to find. My friends and I had a lovely and connective time together and are already planning to meet here again in the future.✨☄️🪐

Susan was very communicative, and the property was easy to get to. The dome was cute and comfortable and we had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the option of air conditioning, and the nice sink with soap provided. There was a very nice selection of teas (although mostly uncaffeinated), in addition to the eggs, coffee, spices, etc. The skillets, utensils and dishes were very nice to have. Good variety of games, too. We appreciated the peaceful setting, sitting in the swing and enjoying all the flowering plants. We cooked over the fire in the evening and had coffee with a lovely view inside the dome when it rained in the morning. Overall a great experience! Hope to be back someday :)
