We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).

The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests—two on the provided queen bed, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses you bring. Cots are available to rent as an add-on. You’re also welcome to pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the surrounding trees, allowing space for up to 10 guests total.
The Ranch Experience
Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working ranch, home to plains bison, honeybees, chickens, and peafowl. We are proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Certified Firefly Habitat and Monarch Waystation.
Explore our scenic hiking trails that wind through rolling hills, wildflowers, and native grasses. I can't even begin to describe all the amazing things about Carie and her land, but just some highlights: watching the bison graze in the field, listening to the peacocks and tree frogs sing all night, watching the fireflies light up the campsite and surrounding woods, playing in the creek, seeing the baby peafowl and learning all about them, and so very much more. The campsite, privy, and tipi were sparkling clean. Yummy bison burgers that we were able to pick up very easily, even with conflicting schedules. I'm already trying to plan a return trip! Just book the site, I promise you won't regret it!

Incredible place to stay. The Bison and Peacocks were truly majestic. The TeePee was just beautiful. Everything for cooking was provided. I barely had to unpack anything. Carie was such a lovely person too. She kept communication open but gave us plenty of privacy. Carie clearly puts a lot of love and effort into her animals, land, and Hipcamp space. 10/10 would recommend and stay again!

We just happened upon the Cherokee Bison Ranch at the last minute and it was meant to be. This site was the best Hipcamp site we’ve stayed at. What a special spot. Carie and Jarrod are warm, knowledgable and thoughtful hosts and my family of four enjoyed every minute learning about the bison, seeing the peacocks up close, and walking the expansive and peaceful property. The tipi was very comfortable and the site has lots of thoughtful touches like a percolator for coffee, a large container of water and tub for washing dishes, and a very clean and easy to use toilet. We biked around the nearby Buckeye Lake and made sure to taste a bison burger over the fire. We will definitely be back!!!

The kids loved the teepee and we had a great time, but sadly we didn’t stay our second night because it rained ALL day. However we really liked the area and the site and teepee. Perfect blend of feeling completely off grid and private while being able to go into town nearby and get your essentials.
Jeff and Susan were very attentive as host and have laid out a site that has been one of my favorites so far on HipCamp.
My only heads up an insider tip would be if you foresee it raining during your stay plan to bring some shoe or boot covers for walking through the woods on the trail to your site.

We had a wonderful time camping on Maryam’s beautiful property. I booked the site for a bachelorette party weekend with old friends, so there were about 10 of us, and this was an excellent choice. The guest of honor stayed in the yurt, which was clean and well decorated. The bathroom by the yurt site was clean and peaceful, a much more substantial structure than what we were expecting.
There’s a loop you can hike through the property and a highlight for me was roaming around with my coffee, noticing the different wildflowers and birds.
Our hosts were available to respond to our needs but also very respectful of our space. Everything was clean and well kept and the spot was easy to find. My friends and I had a lovely and connective time together and are already planning to meet here again in the future.✨☄️🪐

Susan was very communicative, and the property was easy to get to.
The dome was cute and comfortable and we had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the option of air conditioning, and the nice sink with soap provided. There was a very nice selection of teas (although mostly uncaffeinated), in addition to the eggs, coffee, spices, etc. The skillets, utensils and dishes were very nice to have. Good variety of games, too.
We appreciated the peaceful setting, sitting in the swing and enjoying all the flowering plants. We cooked over the fire in the evening and had coffee with a lovely view inside the dome when it rained in the morning.
Overall a great experience! Hope to be back someday :)

Stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and to relax after life chaos. My only regret was not staying longer. We stayed with our dog Sally, who is 100000% a city dog and has never seen chickens or turkeys. She did great. Her scariest moment was the paddle board moving in the wind or Tommy (the turkey) yelling at me to get out of the cabin HAHA. We stayed in the songbird cabin and it was perfect waking up to the pond out front and the roosters/Tommy's calls (I already miss those guys!!). The trails are perfect with lots of wild flowers and cute stump decor throughout the trails. The amenities were perfect and just what one would need for a get away...and the beds, they were the comfiest ever (even better than ours at home) so not only will you relax from the atmosphere, but you will get a great night's sleep. We added on the eggs and honey; highly recommend as they are worth it!
My favorite part was definitely Tommy and the chickens! They gave us some needed joy we needed at this time. Though, if you try to befriend a chicken...they will trick you and say no while the others by the barn laugh leaving you embarrassed HAHAHAHA.
We will definitely be back throughout the year as a relaxing home away from home. Highly recommend staying more than 2 nights!

Weekend Trip to Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat
Carie was an excellent host and more than accommodating. She even provided a propane heater for us as the weather was much colder than anticipated. The tipi was much bigger than we expected, and the cooking utensils and coffee maker was added bonus. We had a great time and created some wonderful memories. Thanks, Carie!

Can not say enough good about Grey Oaks. This property is absolutely stunning. Very private. Excellent host. The cabin was just perfect for a quick getaway. Highly recommend and would definitely revisit.

Cozy & eclectic space. The Lyra hoop is super fun…wished we didn’t need to hit the road as I would have played on it for longer 😊 We loved the decor & peaceful surroundings outside. Very nice host. She hosts workshops & sells handmade items— again, with more time I would certainly partake. Breakfast was appreciated & was one less thing to worry about for us before continuing on our drive!

Lisa has curated such an inviting and peaceful space. We were very lucky to be able to connect and unwind there and will be back! The cabin was very clean and relaxing. She also made us a delightful breakfast in the morning, and we were able to purchase some handcrafted soaps for Christmas gifts!
