Farley’s Farm Sanctuary is a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit animal sanctuary located on 5 acres in Swanton, OH. The campsite is located in the heart of the woods. This is a hike in primitive camp site (about 1/4 mile walk depending where you park) . We have a wagon and wheelbarrows available for use for hauling stuff back to the site. All money raised from this camp site goes back into building our sanctuary and provides ongoing care for our rescued animals!
Oak Openings Metropark (including HEAVY Brewery) is located less than 5 miles away and offers a plethora of outdoor activities. Also located nearby is Johnston’s Fruit Farm (apple picking, pumpkin patch, fresh cut flowers, etc.)
Tano’s Pizza (we recommend V-6 without cheese plus breadsticks no parm) and China Garden (vegetable tofu!) will deliver food here.
The campsite includes a fire pit and composting toilet!

This property is a great place to enjoy nature. The Metropark has an easement through the canal. Bendview park is nearby. Undeveloped park acreage is near the access road to the east. Fly kites or drones in the grassy field. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are fun winter sports to indulge in. Birds find sanctuary here. Baltimore orioles, Cedar Waxwings,eagles, bluebirds and pileated woodpeckers pass through. Arrowheads have been found everywhere. There's peace and quiet in the surrounding area.

Property has a fire ring, picnic table, grill and charcoal, sanitary outhouse and ample parking. Cabin has a microwave, Keurig, wood stove, futon, loft with full size bed, 5-gallon thermos of water, and electricity from a generator. No running water or kitchen. We provide twin sheets and pillow for the futon. We also make the full psize bed in the loft.

We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture. Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana. Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Weekend Trip to Uncle Chuck's Cabin
This was a great riverside area and the house was perfect for what I was hoping for, which was a nice off-the-grid cabin to camp in with my kids along the water. The cabin is heated with a wood stove that puts out more than enough heat for a cold night. I even made pancakes on a griddle that was heated on top of the wood stove, which the kids thought was fun. There is a generator and lights with microwave for when you want to go back on the grid. And restrooms are an outhouse without running water. It a small cabin and is rustic, but it is also well put together and in good shape. Chuck was a very gracious host.

Shawn and Toby really care about the property and their visitors, and are very friendly and responsive. Shawn's thoughtful approach to making a pleasant experience for visitors is evident from the placement of the tent sites, croquet field, driveways, and dumping station. He went out of his way to make sure we knew everything we needed to, from the Thursday trivia night at the Local pub, where to get the best ice cream or pizza, and where to pick up sundries. Everyone we met were very friendly.
We stayed in the first trailer rental of the season and he made us feel at home, though also gave us our privacy. The site is very peaceful in general, though just off the highway and surrounded by farms, with easy access and directions. While we were here, we took advantage of visiting museums, the Ohio Caverns, Indian Lake. Shawn is a great guide and he and Toby take pride in maintaining the beautiful site. Thank you!

3 nights at Uncle Chuck's Cabin
Another relaxing visit! Chuck and Anya do a super job as hosts! The cabin and outhouse were very clean! The front porch view of the river was amazing! We enjoyed coffee time in the morning watching the beautiful sunrise and all of the wildlife waking up! The fishing was also fun! Definitely a peaceful and relaxing vibe!

Cool place! I enjoyed the animals and farm nearby but the bottomland woods is even better. There is a stream that passes by the campsite and a small river farther back. A lot of birds and small mammals. Ideal for camper-van or truck.

Very pretty land. We preferred the sites with gravel. Full hookups! Larry went above and beyond to help us during our stay. He was very available, reliable and attentative. The weather was not cooperating so we couldn't enjoy all the site had to offer. We highly recommend Larry's spots!
