Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Weekend Trip to Ohio Enchanted Forest

We loved camping out here! They provided basic everything you could think of. Flashlights, cutlery, extra blankets, extra water, firewood, candles, you name it! They even have cooking equipment and spices available. We arrived later than anticipated the first night and they had started a fire for us ahead of time in the wood stove. It got down to about 35⁰ one night and the wood stove kept us plenty warm! That combined with the candles made it all super cozy. We didn't hear or see another soul the entire time we were out there, but we did see plenty of wildlife. Overall it was a wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend!!

Weekend Trip to RusticAppalachian Cabin on BeefFarm

Very nice! Cabin was tidy and absolutely lovely for the price it was. It stayed warm all night even with how cold it was. The property was beautiful, plenty of firewood and interesting stuff to see. The owners were very kind! Cows were adorable, and their dog was sweet too. Definitely keep any pets close, because we heard a bunch of coyotes right on the ridge! We got steaks from their little store, which were also great and priced very well. Overall a great trip, just wish we could have stayed longer!

Weekend Trip to Appalachian Retreat Camp

Wife and I had all we needed at the Nature Camper. Camper has water, hot water, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, and a Solo Firepit on the private deck. Lots of charm inside, more like a tiny house with completely new appliances and birch walls. Best of all you are on 500 private acres. We hiked part of the 10 miles of trails in total privacy. Site also has huge grassy tent area you can expand into with large fire-pit - comes with the camper so no neighbors. Owner’s family goes back to the original log cabin, that is still there off one of the trails. Owner has made his own private preserve, He was interesting, respectful and responsive. Camper pdf had all the details you need. Easy drive to Marietta Ohio River historic areas, shopping, dining, activities, and Wayne NF trails. No cell or WiFi but it comes in as you drive down the road. Unplug and enjoy!

The hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating, the campsite is simple but had everything we needed, and the cabins were comfy, warm and private. The site is in a lovely area of country: rolling hills, lots of wildlife, and really quiet and peaceful. We went with 4 adults and 5 kids, aged between 7 and 11, and everyone had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Birdhouse Farm Camp And Cabin

We loved our stay at the A-Frame. It was more secluded than expected which was nice. It is about 1/4 mile from where you park. Logan will help you haul your stuff in his Gator which was super helpful when we were leaving in the rain. We had a peaceful stay and explored Lake Hope State Park, dined at Pleasant Hill Winery, and enjoyed Jennifer's delicious homemade and locally sourced breakfast burritos.

Deer Haven is a WONDERFUL property! Brent literally has just about everything you will need during your stay in the cabin. It is secluded, peaceful and clean! Every morning you walk outside to a picture perfect view. We caught and released some bass, bluegill and more out of the pond, the trails around the property have a clear path to walk through and the hot tub was very clean and relaxing. We throughly enjoyed our time here and we are already planning our next stay at Deer Haven! A huge thank you to Brent and his cleaning crew for everything! We can’t wait to go back!

This was one of my favorite hipcamp spots ever - a true glamping experience! Comfy bed, tastefully decorated, all the essentials provided. I didn’t want to leave 🥰 My gps had difficulty finding it at first since it’s a newer build, but with AWD and a responsive host we figured it out. We were glad we arrived before the sun set though. I liked that it felt private and safe. The cabin itself was truly amazing - all the touches very thoughtful and cozy. Although there’s no electricity or running water, there were plenty of candles and little rechargeable lights and even some lanterns. All the essentials being well maintained and on site already is such a luxury. They had big jugs of water with refillable dispensers inside, soap, seasonings, cookwear, utensils, towels, a propane grill, fire ring, chairs, compost toilet, a trash can, and firewood. We did wake up to loud sirens at 4am one of the nights, but they said it’s common, so don’t be alarmed :)

Weekend Trip to Pop's Place Camping

Michelle and Ed were amazing hosts! Super friendly and accommodating, they went out of their way to make sure we were cared for and had a good experience! The shower and restroom facilities were basic but very clean. Other than being close to the road it was a great place to pitch our tents and hammocks for the weekend! Highly recommend their campground for camping!

Weekend Trip to The Wild Pines Of Ohio

Great location… very clean… remote enough to be disconnected, but close enough to a gas station/convenient store/highway in case you need anything. Has everything you need. Above all are the owners Tom and Melissa. We originally booked to stay a few months ago, we showed up on the first day, but had to leave within an hour of arriving due to an accident my son had at home. We left immediately and left all of our luggage, coolers, clothes, etc. Not only did they refund our money, but Tom also loaded up all of our stuff and found a way to meet my dad a few days later to give him our things which was a huge help given the situation we were in at the time. It was a 3 hour drive for us and they split the drive with my dad to help. We appreciate them more than they will ever know for helping us during the worst time of our lives.

Weekend Trip to Dogwood Cabin

This is a really well thought out little off grid cabin. Clean and cozy, and the stove and lamps they leave for you are really nice. At night we slept in the loft with the window open and listened to the owls all night. We will be back!

The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable, and the host went above and beyond by providing plenty of fresh drinking water and campfire wood. We’re already looking forward to booking another stay soon!

Rowan’s cabin is a hidden gem tucked deep in Ohio’s enchanted forest—a place that feels like stepping into a storybook. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in peaceful privacy, surrounded by beautiful walking and hiking trails, and greeted with thoughtful touches like firewood to keep the chill away. Though the cabin is off-grid (no electricity or running water), it’s full of clever, charming solutions that make the experience feel like a cozy retreat from another time. Candlelight sets the mood, hand-washing stations in the kitchen and bathroom are simple and effective, and the wood-burning fireplace kept us warm on crisp nights. The outdoor kitchen area—with its grill and rustic table—was perfect for slow mornings and starlit dinners. Inside, the cabin is stocked with everything you could need and more: a shelf full of great books, a well-equipped kitchen, and a bed so comfy—with soft blankets and plush pillows—that we slept like logs. And the best part? Our pups were just as pampered, with a dog cot and water bowls waiting for them. Rowan’s cabin is more than a place to stay—it’s an experience. Peaceful, creative, and full of heart. We left feeling restored, inspired, and already dreaming of our next visit.

Weekend Trip to Birdhouse Farm Camp And Cabin

Absolutely loved the little A frame cabin. So cute and cozy! There was a 5 gallon jug of water and bundles of wood (1 is included, more can be purchased!) waiting for us at camp. It was a short, but beautiful, hike to the cabin. We didn't use the outdoor shower but we did check it out - its heated! The outhouse was close to camp, that was nice. My husband loved fishing in the pond. My dog had a blast - lots of wildlife to watch and she was so curious about the goats 😂 we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!
