This tiny (about 150 sq feet) eco cabin is nestled in the hills and hollows of Meigs County Ohio on 6.6 secluded acres of mostly wooded land on a private, dead end gravel lane. A superb place to bird watch, identify native plants and trees, and stargaze as the cabin is located in one of the darkest places in Ohio. Also on the property is a 16x20 camping/activities platform for your enjoyment. The primary and lower-level bedrooms also feature a fold-out futon, providing sleeping accommodations for up to ten persons. All bedding is provided for your use. Beautiful wooded lot sandwiched between a bike trail and a creek. Each space included a fire ring, and a nearby latrine was available for use. This is an excellent place if you are looking to camp and have things to do. The host mentioned the creek is high enough to canoe or kayak in the spring. You can also enjoy access to the bike trail right from the site, and the Hopewell earthworks are within a short driving distance. The hosts were on-site when we arrived and were very friendly and helpful. Firewood is also available for purchase right there on the spot. There are also multiple sites located around a common area, making it ideal for large groups. Overall, my sister and I enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful property up a little mountain, they are working on getting power and water setup and the area is very much still a work in progress but it's getting there, very few neighbors and your on the edge of a ridge with great views. The family is very kind and even ran an extension cord out for us to have power, it let us put up our outdoor lights and made for an awesome extended weekend. Your close to all the awesome caves and falls. Highly recommend!

We tent camped at Michaels property and had a great time. It is a rustic site so we took our own bathroom/shower tent. The coyotes were really carrying on for the full moon around midnight. The warm weather brought out the mosquitoes but it was nothing that a few bug incense sticks couldn't manage. Also make sure to take water jugs to fill up at the Buchtel spring.

Sarah is a fabulous host! Super helpful to me with some details and questions I had. Very responsive to my texts before and during the trip. Her land really is lovely. You can see the stars through the tree tops, birds are all over the place, including bald eagles along the creek. Having the bicycle/walking path right next door was fabulous...that's where I saw the huge eagle in a tree. On weekday mornings you may hear a few large trucks heading out early. Other than that, not a lot of traffic noise. When things re-open in the Spring, I would highly recommend checking it out. When we were there the creek was quite low and the campsite had been a bit bruised by heavy machinery. Nature recovers. Thank you again, Sarah! Note: there are several verbal dogs nearby who were active during the nighttime hours. If you're a super light sleeper, perhaps this isn't the place for you.

I made my reservation at 5:00pm the day of my stay.. Michael contacted me right away to make sure I could get ahold of him if I needed help finding the campsite.. I appreciate his communication. After reading the other reviews I had no problem finding it. I have AT&T and cell phone service was poor.. I was able to get some text messages, but I couldn’t call, which was fine with me. There are a lot of trees and the forrest is very thick so it is completely private! The mosquitoes were bad so I’m glad I brought OFF, because I definitely needed it. At about 9pm a couple in an old hatchback vehicle drove down in.. they said they were looking for their mom in a blue Malibu and that her location said she was here.. but I never saw any vehicles since I got there and I told them that. They left and I never had an issue with them coming back again, but it just kind of freaked me out because they came in kind of fast and I wasn’t expecting it. I hope they found their mom ok. Thank you so much for letting me stay at your place last minute.. It is so beautiful there.. I will definitely be back!

Campsite sits next to the creek that you can hear the soothing babblings to lullaby you to sleep. This a a clean, well maintained property and a clean porta-poty within 100ft off the campsite. Firewoods are available to purchase on site if you run out. The owners stopped by to greet when I arrived and before my departure. Overall a great camping site I would recommend and revisit.

This is only my second HipCamp stay, and I was traveling solo as a woman. I was slightly worried, but chose them as they seemed the most warm and friendly. I was so happy to be right about assumptions. Not only was it incredibly safe, it was incredibly beautiful. You couldn’t find a property like this commercially for $40 a night, let alone $20-$30. This is well worth the price for what you will pay here. The host messaged me a few times to let me know various things about weather, conditions, etc. all before hand and during. However it was never too much, just needed vital information. She was so kind and courteous to me. It really shows you that real hospitality still exists. 4WD recommended for incline/decline at entry.

Mike was very kind and welcoming! The property was fantastic and very private. He made sure we found the place ok, and gave us directions to local hiking trails, recommendations on things to do and explore in the area. With the property being creekside, paired with the rainy weather, I would caution campers to bring plenty of Deep Woods OFF and citronella, as the mosquitoes were out in force! All in all, a nice relaxing week! Mike, thank you for your hospitality and the use of your property! It definitely made our camping vacation a great time! 10/10, would highly recommend! Looking forward to staying with you again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Oasis! The pull through site was perfect for our family. We had enough space for our three small tents, our Jeep, and our hammocks. What a beautiful creek! Our doggo loved the water, and the rock beach was great for skipping stones and star-gazing at night. The site had everything we needed to enjoy a couple of nights outside. Our hosts were very gracious and helpful. We can’t wait to escape again to the Oasis!
