I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or you can book both sites. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. Loved this spot… although we made a mistake and had planned for an electric hookup for heat. We stayed one night anyway and loved having even a short time on this property. The farm was really an incredible property. We brewed coffee on the provided propane stove and enjoyed a quiet morning on the swing by the creek while enjoying our hot coffee. It felt like a happy accident that we accidentally stumbled on a site that we’ll return to with our solar panels for a boondocking trip in the future. And If you are a tent camper, this spot is one of the best we’ve seen, hands down. Book now!

Definitely recommend booking this campsite! It was a lovely property, including highland cows (a baby was born just a few weeks ago!), the farmhouse, and the campsite itself. There is a great fire pit, picnic table, outhouse, and porch swing - what more could you need! The stream next to the campsite was so peaceful to sleep to. The owners were very kind and even surprised us with some cookies when we checked in. Cannot wait to book again!

Our tent camping getaway was a dream!! Plenty of space to enjoy board games or cards at the picnic table, cook on the provided propane stove top, or chat around the stone lined fire pit! This place was decked out with so many bells and whistles! The entire property is beautifully maintained and the host was an interesting and witty man. The outhouse was uber clean and had a water source (bath and body works pump soap! Bonus!) with a sink for washing and rinsing! The camp site location was nestled in a cozy cocoon alongside a stream and surrounded by trees, but just a quick walk to hike trails, visit chickens (yes, you can buy fresh eggs!) peacocks, bulls and a couple pot bellied pigs! We were given homemade cookies and pup treats in adorable packaging upon arrival and I’m here to say….we are already planning our next trip!! See you in the Spring, Vaughn! Could go on and on!! Just splendid!

Absolutely what we were looking for. Beautiful property, sandwiched between a river and a stocked pond. Fairly quiet, very peaceful. Cindy is an amazing hostess. Super sweet and friendly. Lots of wildlife around. Everything from turkeys and hawks, to deer and coyotes. Definitely a great place to drop a tent, hang a hammock and relax. Thank you so much Cindy, we appreciate you!

We had a great time camping in Robert's Air Stream. It was a perfect camp setting for our granddaughter's (3) first camping trip. The night sky was beautiful. And there were plenty of things to do nearby.

Owners were great- he met us with his golf cart and made setting up our camp site super easy. The site itself was secluded and primative- exactly what we were looking for. Shower/bathroom was clean and very handy. Also, this site is close to the lake which was ideal for fishing. The pond on-site was also great to fish in. Had more success there than at the lake! Would recommend! Only thing to note- we brought our hammock and at this particular site we had to set it up on the entrance path as there wasn't a ton of great trees to use at this particular campsite at Fairhaven.

Tent camping at Melissa’s was quiet and peaceful. There was a large metal fire ring perfect to enjoy an evening and morning fire. Large picnic table to sit around and a great surrounding area. Convenient indoor bathroom and shower for campers. Close to Yellow Springs.

Cindy was a gracious host. She actually walked me around the property to assist me in choosing a spot. She also provided a wagon to help haul my gear. Being able to walk up to the lake from my tent to fish was extremely convenient. I caught a few pan fish on some bee moths. Apparently there's some big cats in the lake. My goal was to relax and unplug and this property allowed me to do just that.

First time camper here and this was the perfect spot! We were the only people there so it worked out nicely in our favor and was a quiet, relaxing trip. We wanted to choose a spot that wasn’t an actual campground and close to the ren faire to get there quickly on Sunday. We spent most of the afternoon fishing (you will definitely catch something) and the entire property is very thought out and intentional with activities. I was looking forward to a little hiking as walking trails are listed but they're just paths from site to site, so I wouldn’t anticipate that but there’s plenty else to do. The bathroom was very nice and they have a small shop for some items you may have forgotten: snacks, propane, rope, ice, wood. This may be an annual trip for us! 🙂

We did tent camping with our 2 dogs. It was a nice secluded camp site, next to a creek. The pit toilet was clean.The hosts were accommodating and pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Fairhaven

Directions were very clear and someone was there to meet us to help get our gear to the site. Despite not being able to park at the site, the assistance with gear and closeness to the parking made it easy to load in and out. Bathroom facilities are great and the grounds were very private and peaceful. Just note that the ground is quite hard right now, so we had to get creative with staking our tent with weights. Otherwise, site was level, well maintained and had the basics that we needed!
