Nestled within the 10-acre organic farm that hosts Earthsong Farm and Discovery Park is an authentic American Indian tipi camping experience. An extra large party tipi ("Great Gatherings") is available for larger groups as a daytime rental or for overnight stays (up to 18 people). This tipi is on a woodchip base for a more primitive authentic experience and has optional cots and chairs for your use.
In the fenced Tipi Village compound area there is a large Tipi on a wooden deck, a small play tipi for kids. The Tipi is adorned with native American Indian decor and furnished with one queen size bed, bedside table and camp chair. Optional cots available, offering sleep accommodations for a total of 5 -6 people.
Tipi Village is equipped with a shared outdoor kitchen and dining area, including a gas barbeque grill and fresh spring water. There is also an instant-heat outdoor shower available. A family-friendly fire pit with surrounding seating is a centralized spot for drum circles, late night marshmallows, and evening conversations. At night you'll see fireflies and hear plenty of crickets, bullfrogs and singing tree frogs.
Just outside the Tipi Village fence awaits "Discovery Park" for the kids... the "Best Playground Ever!" The park includes kid powered train cars, gem mining, dual zip lines, a real fire truck, woods to explore, a shallow lagoon to take a raft across and much more. Schedule a tour of the farm to see the animals, greenhouses and an off-grid EarthShip. A walk through the old-growth forest brings a quiet sense of peace and a genuine earthing connection. An old-fashioned General Store offers seasonal organic produce, herbal tinctures and teas, bulk foods, goat milk soap, honey, maple syrup, jams, wooden toys, free-range chickens and eggs, plus much more.

Two gas stations within a 5 minute driving distance offer ice refills for your cooler and quick snacks, Miller's Grocery is in Lodi (5 mins) and Medina is just up the road (15 mins).
For the Tourist: Medina Town Square is adorned with tiny shops and boutiques. You can also find Castle Noel, a Christmas museum displaying paraphernalia from popular Christmas films throughout time. Two Farmer's Markets are active from May 1st- September in Medina on Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm. Nearby Litchfield offers an outdoor Flea Market (about 15 min. drive). Cleveland is 45 minutes away with the rock-n-roll museum, science center, botanical gardens and much more. Amish country is 45 minutes South with many attractions, stores and restaurants. There is a large assemblage of old order Amish just 10 minutes west with many farm produce stands. Dragway 42 is also just 10 minutes SW near West Salem. Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site. Site #1 is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed. Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.

Camping began ten years ago. We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property.
6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers
8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water.
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.
11. DOG POLICY: We welcome dogs who have received prior permission from the farm owners. A dog registration form including proof of rabies vaccination must be filled out upon arrival. Unvaccinated dogs are not permitted on the property. All dogs MUST always be on a leash and in the physical control of their owner(s). No pets may be left unattended at any time.

Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace
*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.
*Repackage food to minimize waste.
*Use a map and compass or GPS to eliminate the use of marking paint, rock cairns or flagging. (this is a challenging one for us...any suggestions?)
*Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace.
The Camp Cabin:
Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed!
The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay.
The Farm Property:
Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property.
Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The Barn:
The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October.
The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

Tipi Village is equipped with a shared outdoor kitchen and dining area, including a gas barbeque grill and fresh spring water. There is also an instant-heat outdoor shower available. A family-friendly fire pit with surrounding seating is a centralized spot for drum circles, late night marshmallows, and evening conversations. At night you'll see fireflies and hear plenty of crickets, bullfrogs and singing tree frogs.
Just outside the Tipi Village fence awaits "Discovery Park" for the kids... the "Best Playground Ever!" The park includes kid powered train cars, gem mining, dual zip lines, a real fire truck, woods to explore, a shallow lagoon to take a raft across and much more. Schedule a tour of the farm to see the animals, greenhouses and an off-grid EarthShip. A walk through the old-growth forest brings a quiet sense of peace and a genuine earthing connection. An old-fashioned General Store offers seasonal organic produce, herbal tinctures and teas, bulk foods, goat milk soap, honey, maple syrup, jams, wooden toys, free-range chickens and eggs, plus much more.
Down the road, complimenting the experience of Tipi Village, is the Log Cabin Shop: a muzzle-loading, early American craft & used bookstore.

Two gas stations within a 5 minute driving distance offer ice refills for your cooler and quick snacks, Miller's Grocery is in Lodi (5 mins) and Medina is just up the road (15 mins).
For the Tourist: Medina Town Square is adorned with tiny shops and boutiques. You can also find Castle Noel, a Christmas museum displaying paraphernalia from popular Christmas films throughout time. Two Farmer's Markets are active from May 1st- September in Medina on Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm. Nearby Litchfield offers an outdoor Flea Market (about 15 min. drive). Cleveland is 45 minutes away with the rock-n-roll museum, science center, botanical gardens and much more. Amish country is 45 minutes South with many attractions, stores and restaurants. There is a large assemblage of old order Amish just 10 minutes west with many farm produce stands. Dragway 42 is also just 10 minutes SW near West Salem. Akron is 30 minutes East and has many worthwhile attractions including Stan Hywet Grounds, the former estate of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site. Site #1 is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed. Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property.
6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers
8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water.
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.

The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace
*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.
*Repackage food to minimize waste.
*Use a map and compass or GPS to eliminate the use of marking paint, rock cairns or flagging. (this is a challenging one for us...any suggestions?)
*Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace.
The Camp Cabin:
Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed!
The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay.
The Farm Property:
Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property.
Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The Barn:
The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October.
The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

The cabin is lovely, the beds are comfy, the goats and the sheep are adorable! It was really warm inside the cabin, even in single digit temperatures. The bathroom in the main house is very nice. Shiloh is super friendly (though a bit overbearing). Our son and his friends had a great time sledding on the sledding hill, and it was terrific that there were sleds to use!

Tim's space was great! From the cleanest portable toilet I've ever seen to the buckets of water for drowning the fire, it was a really great experience.
A great place for hammock camping, too, with plenty of trees to hang from.

Hot tent camped the weekend at Gary and Audrey's, Thornhill Bluff campsite with our 2 dogs! Short little walk to a secluded campsite at the top of the bluff. Along the trail are strung lights to help guide you back and light the site up! The site is large and accommodating for the space that I needed. (12ft diameter tipi hot tent, could definitely accommodate larger!) Fire ring at site and enough wood for anyone who stays. Two wood benches for seating at site. Bathroom is up at the house, but available at all times! Clean and a wonderful amenity to have! Absolutely beautiful views in any direction on the Bluff. We hiked along the bluff to check out the steep ravine that leads down to the Sand Run Metro Park. Took a couple rides down the Zipline in the back yard, where there are also trampolines, a private pond and some other fun amenities we haven't checked out yet! Our hosts were amazing, the camping was phenomenal, thank you Gary and Audrey!

I absolutely loved the area. Bo was very nice. The scenery and the camp sites were really cool. My only thing (which was kinda on me) was I was unable to get a fire started because I came in the wet season. But spring and summer would be a whole different experience! Would definitely come back!

3 nights at Ashcraft Hills
What a great place. So much to explore. I enjoyed it greatly.
The cabin is cozy, and there are acres of privacy; the scenary is beautiful. There is plenty of space inside the cabin for people to walk around, get comfy, and eat a hearty meal. The upstairs has 2 beds that are at queen-sized. There are plenty of books and DVD movies, a wall-mounted TV, 2 big sofas (3 seat and 2 seat), a massive bean bag, and a dining table. The restroom includes a toilet, sink, bathtub shower, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a mini fridge with a freezer, dual sink, microwave, gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. There is plenty of heat to keep you warm in the wintertime. The place is very clean - vacuums included.
Wi-fi and cell phone signals are not really accessable at the United Cabin but they are at the host's home property, which is a 3 min drive away.
Nearby, there is a small pond, a cornfield, plenty of hills, and forests with trails.

We had a great time! We have trouble finding spots for winter camping and this space was great. We actually forgot our tent poles so the trip could have needed a lot of adapting- but with the access to the barn, we were able to set up inside. Facilities & amenities were clean & as described. Loved watching the animals in the morning and setting up my hammock back by the chickens. Allison was a fantastic host. Would absolutely stay here again!

We had a quick stop over at James farm on a road trip West and it was everything we needed. He responded quickly and even got us some fire wood last minute. We didn’t get to meet as we arrived late and left early but it was a beautiful place. The bathroom in the barn a great plus!

Weekend Trip to Ashcraft Hills
We stayed at the A-frame this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The place was super clean and had literally everything we needed (we definitely overpacked 😅). There was plenty of firewood for us, which made hanging out by the fire so nice.
PJ was awesome — super friendly, available if you need anything, and honestly willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. When we arrived, a few lights weren’t working, and he was super concerned it might ruin our stay. He even offered to come fix them right away, but it really wasn’t an issue for us at all.
We also loved that we could bring our dogs! They had the best time running around off leash and exploring. Cell service isn’t great out there, but honestly, that was exactly what we needed — the perfect little disconnect.
This was our first time using the Hipcamp app, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. We’d 100% come back again!

Great spot located right by CVNP. We enjoyed the campfire and laughed every time a goat would remind us we weren’t alone by sneezing. Even though the sun set early and the cool fall air filled the night we had fun. The barn was a nice surprise and good location for a small party. Woke up in the middle of the night to pee (very clean port-a-potty) and the stars were so clear and bright!

Some of the reviews are overly critical of Matt's camping area. The campgrounds are easy to get to, with improved gravel roads. The road leading to his land is mostly paved, but only one way. The 4x4 camp sites are well marked. I had no issue getting my pop-up camper in and out from one of the close to the road spaces. Kermit's bottom did require 4x4 when climbing the gravel hill. He clearly states this many times in the listing.
All of that being said, the campground is peaceful, serene, and very colorful during the fall. Firewood is provided for a small fee, as well as a fire ring and picnic table. Close to town as well - you can get whatever you need within 10 minutes. Currently there are outdoor showers and a porta potty. I will definitely come back, and I'm sure it will only be a better experience.

I'll tell you, the pictures are great but they don't do justice to the peace and comfort this place brings.
When we arrived the camp host told us to ask for anything we needed, and they held true to that. The property has tons of places to hike. Everything around you is gorgeous. The beds are comfy, and the cabin is warm.
There's no wifi or cellular signal, which was a benefit in my opinion.

It’s an awesome little camp ground! Nice swim/fishing pond, an outlet to charge a phone, outdoor showers with a propane water heater, firewood available and a porta potty. The property was really pretty! Walked the creek bed to see some cool rock formations, bunch of wildlife and had owls hooting to wake us up both mornings. 2nd time there now, I will visit again! I walked past the cabins while I was there also, definitely want to rent one of those, they look really nice.

Great spot to relax. Our family (and dog) really enjoyed the stay. We did some short hikes on the property, fished, and relaxed around the fire. Host was quick to respond and very helpful.
