Turkey Hollow is nestled in the rolling hills of Holmes County Ohio. We are right on the edge of the largest Amish settlement in the nation. The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace. The Camp Cabin: Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay. The Farm Property: Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property. Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. The Barn: The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October. The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

The cats and poultry are free range so if you are fearful of chickens, ducks or turkeys, you probably shouldn't stay here. 😁 Owners Chuck and Amanda moved from Northern California and re-established their rescue here in Central Ohio. We have two finished studio cabins. They are very close (2 miles) to the town of Mount Vernon, OH with hiking trails on the property. Pets are allowed but there are free range animals on the property so their safety is priority. We have added a 2 acre fenced in area for dogs off leash. It's our version of a Dog Park. Plenty of bike trails around town and only 20 miles to Mohican State Park. Farm fresh eggs from our rescued chickens and local honey are available for purchase. I love solo camping/traveling with my dogs whenever I can. I have a high pressure job and am always looking for peace whenever I can get away. That is exactly what I found at this beautiful property. Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

When we booked this place, we were very excited because we read all the glowing reviews. I can say that it still exceeded our expectations in every way!!!!! The host could not have been more gracious, kind, and welcoming to us. She is an absolute gem. The cabin was lovely, and I kept forgetting that we didn't have a sink in there because it has every other amenity you could ask for! Air con, a heater, electricity, comfy beds, even wifi for goodness sake! The horses and other farm animals were absolutely lovely, so cute and silly. I recommend that you bring binoculars to see the beautiful wildlife at the pond, pillows, bug spray and maybe a citronella candle, and you will have the absolute best time EVER!

**A Wonderful Little Getaway** We absolutely loved our stay at The Camp Cabin! ❤️ From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The cabin was cozy, peaceful, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. One of our favorite little surprises was the **dollar hunt game in the cabin!** It was such a fun and unexpected touch, and we had a great time looking around to find them and then hiding them for the next guest. It made the stay feel even more special and fun. 😊 We also loved being able to bring our three dogs along! 🐾🐾🐾 They absolutely loved having all that land to explore and enjoy. It was so nice watching them run around and have just as much fun as we did. The property is beautiful and peaceful, making it so easy to slow down, enjoy nature, and just unwind. You can really tell the hosts put a lot of thought and care into creating a special place for their guests—and their four-legged guests too! Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

Renee was a great host. We were getting in very late and she even went in and got the futon ready for us to just crash. The cabin is cute, clean and has everything you might need (no indoor plumbing, think glamping when packing). Sitting on the covered porch overlooking the pond and horse field was beautiful and so relaxing. Pumpkin, one of the farms cats, hung with us on the porch and watched over us all night. Highly recommend especially for animal lovers!

My niece is about to start kindergarten so we decided to take her glamping as a summer adventure before she starts, and Shady Owl was amazing. Both cabins were really cute and well equipped with everything you can think of - you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into everything, from games and dvds to starter wood/egg cartons for the fires to bug spray. We had a blast cooking out over a campfire, spending time on the pond in the peddle-boat, enjoying the gorgeous land, and most of all: all the animals! My niece was in love. I can't tell you how many times we had to go visit the turkeys, chickens, and roosters. Not to mention the cats and kittens. And we absolutely loved the dogs that just leisurely stopped over to say hi during our stay. We all are huge animal-lovers (I work at a city dog-kennel a couple hours away), so we truly had a blast! Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm space with others!

The cabin is so quaint and cozy.i was a bit skeptical of the compost toilet in such a small space, but the sawdust was a perfect fix. the property is beautiful and has lots is wildlife. Beds were comfy and cabin was very clean. 10/10

Weekend Trip to Ashcraft Hills

We had a wonderful stay at the United Cabin!! It is roomier than we expected, comfortable, clean, and well stocked. The hosts were awesome- responsive and helpful. PJ even went to the store to grab us coffee and sweeteners as we arrived because we realized we had not brought any. The gravel driveway they added was great. It rained and stormed a good bit while we were there and my mom was able to get her Honda Civic parked right in front of the cabin and drive back out no problem at all. The added internet worked well for us.. Peace of mind for my mom who has heart failure, and for myself being able to monitor my type 1 diabetic child all the way to the pond. Definitely a great place for family memories, and we will be back!!
