Nestled under a pine forest, Camp KaRuGa is a campground with cabins and campsites near the Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River. Beautiful creek side campsites and primitive cabins each with its own picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate. Camp Karuga offers 1 fully equipped bath house with hot/cold water, electricity and charging stations as well as a family/handicapped bath house. Enjoy the following on-site amenities during your stay in the coolest corner of North Carolina. On-site hiking trails, a pavilion with scenic pond for floating, and a community fire pit. We offer a kayak float from our campground on the New River $60 per person. We also, offer on-site guided horse trail rides through our sister business One More? Trail Riding Stable. Call 828-295-2274 for reservations. The tiny cabins can only accommodate 2 adults and 2 children maximum occupancy. If your family is larger than that, please contact us or the booking site to make additional arrangements. Each cabin is generously spaced from the others for a pleasant heir of privacy. Tent sites are also spaced apart with your privacy in mind. Ashe County is offers something for everyone. Beautiful hiking trails are as close or as far as you want to drive to get there. Downtown offers an experience in walking back in time with a small town feel that is unmatched. Delicious eating experiences are available from country cooking to fine dining. Camp Karuga is also perfectly situated for traveling to Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk without the exhaustion of a long drive. There is so many wonderful experiences around Camp Karuga that it will be hard to choose from. At Camp Karuga, you can be as active as you want, or just kick back and enjoy the view while your ears relax to the sound of our beautiful creek. Learn more about this land: Come and park your RV and enjoy tons of activities in and around Mountain City and the surrounding area. On the property you can walk through the woods, sit by the stream and listen to the water rushing downstream or trickling if we haven’t had rain. We accommodate one RV at a time and provide water and hookups in a circle drive through on private property. The owner's house and two outbuildings are on the property. A future cabin and pottery shop are in the works. If you like the privacy and quiet away from other camper then you will enjoy your stay with us. Pets are welcome! WI-FI is available. Campfires allowed in designated area if permitted by Fire Dept. Between October 15 to May 15 a burn permit is required. Permits are free, Owner can obtain for you. The farmhouse served as Benjamin’s primary residence for six years, providing a never-ending source of inspiration and peace that most folks only experience a handful times in their life. In 2011, Benjamin moved to Boone and began leasing the farmhouse as a vacation rental.In 2018, he purchased the adjacent five acres (that he could not afford in 2004) and began to reclaim the land and creek from the scrubby, thorny growth that had settled on the dormant property.While the property transformed before his eyes, Benjamin felt as if he was discovering this place for the very first time. Both are locked off from the main barn structure to allow use when no events are scheduled, and have separate private keyed access, and include streaming TV, a 2-top burner, mini-fridge, and fold-down small full sofa bed for 2 (larger people may need to bring a blow-up mattress/pad for more room to spread out!). There is a men's and women's bathroom with 2 stalls joining the barn and accessed from the outside, along with 2 outdoor showers for longer stays. Propane, on-demand hot water is provided. The other structure that can be rented is the pond pavilion (an additional guest fee is charged over 4 people to accommodate) that features 2 full-size outdoor mattresses, a camping stove, chairs, and large firepit and firecircle. There are picnic tables also on site for use. This is truly luxury camping.

The campground also has 2 pickleball courts and a basketball court, a sandbox/swing area for kids, and a state of the art Arcade with billiards, air hockey, pinball machines, and video games. During the summer and fall months, we do "movies under the stars" with our huge 275" inflatable movie screen! We also offer a dedicated fiber wifi service that allows guests to surf/zoom/stream all over the property. We have 6 full service tiny home cabins (with full kitchens and bathroom inside) as well the budget minded camping cabins (with electricity but guests use the campground bath house as there is no plumbing inside). All our cabins have their own fire pit and picnic table. The campground also has a laundry room, Gathering Room (with a TV as well as a library of books, dvds, and board games) and a Pavilion area with tables for our guests to enjoy.

A STORY BOOK SETTING SURROUNDED BY NATURE. BABBLING BROOK CABIN A PLACE TO UNPLUG AND RECONNECT! Our 2,441 sqft cabin is nestled in a Mountain hollow 3900 feet above sea level, with rugged Appalachian mountains as the backdrop. Wildlife abundant, Watch the birds, chipmunks, and deer play. The property itself has 43 acres to explore with multiple trails. It backs up to 4500 acres of the famous Grayson Highlands State Park, which includes wild ponies! The area is almost surreal starting in the Spring with flowers planted meticulously around the cabin, as well as many wild flowers scattered up and down our rolling hills. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in the morning, while on the back deck, listening to the natural waterfall of the pond. Don't forget the binoculars, to watch the deer eating fallen apples off our trees, the chipmunks playing, and the ground hogs(whistle pigs) patrolling the property. We have many species of birds for the bird watching enthusiasts. The property also boasts a stream with 3 spring fed waterfalls and enlarged pools to take a refreshing SWIM in the summer or a polar plunge in the winter. We have a fire pit by the stream for marshmallow roasting, story telling, and lots of stargazing. Our place is everything you pictured in your minds eye, when dreaming about getting away from the hustle and grind of everyday life. Babbling Brook Cabin will make you more relaxed and a greater appreciation for all of nature's beauty. The space: Our mountain cabin has 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. 1 king size bedroom downstairs with private full bathroom. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. 1 king size bedroom 1 Full size bedroom 1 twin trundle bed with additional twin which pulls out Extra queen size floor mattress/futon available Other things to note: The property itself has multiple streams on it, one of which actually supplies the water for the home so you are drinking chilled spring water that is sterilized with a UV filter. All water activities are at own risk and there is no lifeguard on duty (life jackets are available). Wi-Fi is available and use of a land line. Cell phones can be used via Wi-Fi calling but due to the rural area cell reception outside the house is not available. ***AS OF 5/29/2023 NEW FASTER RELIABLE INTERNET AND WIFI WITH STARLINK! Free EV charger for guests is available. Charger is 240V at 40 AMP.
