We stopped farming this land long ago but some of his relatives are still farming on the land he use to farm on. You will see one of his old plots still being farmed across the street from our property. There is still the old cabin he use to live in along with an old curing barn they use to hang the tobacco in after harvest. Mount Mitchell (elevation 6,884 feet) is the highest peak east of the Mississippi. You can take the trail to the observation deck for a 360 panoramic view! Numerous trails for all levels of hikers, and bird watchers have recorded over 91 species in the park! Grandfather Mountain (elevation 5,946 feet) is one of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountain range, offering rugged terrain and breathtaking vistas. Grandfather is a nationally recognized nature preserve and home to the Mile High Swinging Bridge. Roan Mountain (elevation 6,286 feet) boasts the world's largest naturally growing rhododendron garden with over 600 acres of blooming catawba rhododendron! Be sure to reserve a stay with us in June for the annual bloom and the NC Rhododendron Festival!
