Weekend Trip to CreekStone in Candler, NC

We had an awesome stay! Louedith was such a sweetheart, and was very accommodating when the booking site gave us issues. Clean and quiet area. Clean port-a-potty for the site. Water was available, as well as trash disposal. There was a deck at our site, and an adorable barn down the road with games inside, and the mountain views were excellent. Also allowed pets so that was a plus. Price was definitely nice as well. Would definitely stay again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The stay was amazing! The cabin was the perfect size for us and the dogs! The weather was absolutely beautiful which allows us to go hiking at some nearby trails. The cabin was equipped with anything we could have needed and more. We loved the hot tub and fire pit and were able to see the stars from each spot. Definitely will be booking a stay in the Fall. Kevin the host was super nice and accommodating, got to chat with him on our last day before we left. Looking forward to our next stay!!

What a beautiful setup Kevin has out there! The bungalow was super comfortable and what a decadent treat having a personal hot tub! It was spotless, stocked with everything needed, and it was such a pleasure speaking to Kevin. Clearly a top notch human being. Couldn’t have been happier and would stay again in an instant.

My husband and I just stayed here. This spot was great! Very well thought out. From providing coffee, basic toiletries, even a collagen face mask! We had all the basics we needed to cook food. Breakfast was on their electric griddle, dinner was cooked over the fire on their campfire grill. They also have a counter top toaster oven with lots of features but we didn't use it. Lots of plants to identify, forage. Cleared path to walk to the top of the mountain. The hot tub was awesome, the deck was where we hungout the most, and the firepit was great (comfy chairs too!) The privacy, ease of check in and check out and all the great touches made this a great spot for us. Cell reception is good. Internet good. We will be back!

This was my first camping experience. The site was beautiful and clean. The port a potties were unbelievably clean and close to my site. I had 100% privacy and it was safe. I will definitely be back.

It was a pretty good stay.. our kids enjoyed it very much. Not a great spot if you are looking to fish. But for peace and quiet it was great. We enjoyed the hilltop clamping tent. There is plenty of wood to gather for the fire pit.

The views were beautiful. The setting was peaceful. There was a camper parked right next to us, but fortunately the neighbors were friendly and quiet. The barn was a nice place to hang out, but it was very dirty and not many games. We still enjoyed swinging in the chair swings. We also loved the fire pit and mountain views.

The views were awesome. The site was clean and well taken care of. It was very easy to back into the site and to pull out of. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Asheville.

Love this campground. It’s our second time there and we’ll be back again. Lots of room for kids to roam and explore, sites have plenty of space and are mostly all creekside. Only down side is porta potties instead of a full bath house…for now! They are prestige porta potties though, and the bathhouse is being built as we speak. Lots of may apples blooming, great piece of property in a great location. Also has several tiny houses and safari tents for those who aren’t quite ready for that full sleep on the ground camp experience. Owner is great to work with. Locked gate to the property as well for added sense of safety and relatively few sites allowed us the confidence to let the kids roam and explore and create their own fun.

This spot is wonderful - truly idyllic to be creekside, felt incredibly private and my toddler loved splashing around in the creek. The camping spot was impeccably maintained and had everything we needed. Blair was super responsive and being able to purchase firewood was a nice touch. There is a little bit of road noise but nothing that was a huge bother. We will definitely be back!

Blair and his property is absolute amazing. He has many areas for everyone’s taste. Many improvements are also coming to the property such as bath houses. His port o potty’s are very clean. His hospitality is great and I will be coming back with many groups soon.

Just a wonderful spot and the kids age 5 and 6 were overjoyed with the barn house. This is a really good base camp to be able to then go to Asheville and Hendersonville to enjoy the sites around. Our hosts were easy going and friendly. Would definitely visit again! Thank you :-)

This was a beautiful place to camp. We were right by the stream so any noise around us was muted. I highly recommend TangleWood Campground in Marion, NC. I hope to bring my grandson back again in the summer. Loved loved loved our time there!

This is a great spot and very well maintained! Blair was so helpful and thoughtful. Close to lots of hiking in Linville and closer to Asheville. It is a very private spot. Even if people are at the other campsites you won’t feel like they’re on top of you. Lots of trees and privacy. Very dog friendly. So happy we found this thru Hipcamp. I will be returning to do more hiking in linville and still able to be close to life.

The short version of the story: The farm also acted as a country store that was also a front for moonshine. The Whitson Brothers who owned our farm had a deal with Kit Byrd; a mountaineer from "on the mountain" who had a knack for making good shine. It ultimately was the death of him at the hands of the 3 Whitson Brothers. This murder years later led to the death of a large percentage of the population in this small NC Mtn town. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

Two Great Smoky Mtn National Park entrances are within 8 miles! Leave No Trace mentality and simpler living, where wildlife abounds and zero city lights are visible. Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom. You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice. Unique, spectacular views of nature are seen from each treehouse. Snowbird Mountain to North, Mt Sterling to East, Chestnut Mountain to West and Mt Cammerer to South. NEW for 2025: Short loop hiking trails onsite directly from each treehouse. Maps and directions provided inside the House Manual within each treehouse.
