We strive to create an environment for nature viewing, stargazing, fishing, and unwinding in nature as camping should be. Quiet time enforced 10pm-6am. Check in strictly 2-8pm. We do not allow late check ins. We meet and greet all guests.the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Let us know if you catch one so we can record it! We are continually trying to make JCO and Lee Baysden Pond a great place in our community for friends and families! BEFORE YOU BOOK, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SITES 8, 12, 13, 14, AND 15 ARE OUT OF RANGE OF THE WIFI. We have only site 1 that has full hookups. All the other sites are boondocking with water only.

Weekend Trip to Cedar Creek Campground at Elease

Beautiful, private and somewhat enchanted. We felt such a sense of peace here. From the first contact with Mike, we knew it would be special. Large, private lots were scattered throughout the wooded area. Very well landscaped and looking forward to returning when everything is in bloom. If this is any indication of what our retirement will be like, we’re ready to explore now. A lot of love and care has built this place and it shows!

Absolutely beautiful place. The pictures don't do it justice. Well spaced, generously sized sites, and clean, nicely maintained porta-john. The provided wipes are especially nice. The camp hostess rolls out the red carpet. We will definitely be coming back here.

We loved Black River Camping Ventures, it’s a most beautiful and serene landscape. Right on the river the views are magical. Walking up to the point and watching the sunset was a breathtaking moment. They have a lovely beach area to launch kayaks and some wonderful swamp and cypress areas to explore. Catfish in the river make fishing a fun time! The camping areas are large and each feature a fire ring with swing over cooking grate, trash can and picnic table. There are a couple of portable-John’s for use which are kept spotless. They even supply tissue, wipes and sanitizer! Mrs Lisa and Mr Eric were absolutely wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous time. We recommend very highly this camping site for fun family adventures.

I brought my RV out to Michael’s place and had an incredible stay. The property is spotless—honestly looks and feels brand new and the peace and quiet out there is exactly what I needed. Michael was an awesome host, quick to respond, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. The space is open, relaxing, and very well taken care of. I’ll definitely be coming back without a doubt. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and comfortable getaway.

We were four families who spent a weekend at Sugar Neck, and honestly, it was such a perfect escape. Having the entire place to ourselves made it feel extra special — it’s an amazing setup for a group getaway. The tents are beautiful, super comfortable, and the bathrooms are neat, private, and way nicer than you’d expect for glamping. We couldn’t have asked for more. In fact, we loved it so much we’ve already booked another weekend for next week! The host was excellent at communicating and made everything smooth from start to finish. Highly recommend Sugar Neck for anyone looking for a peaceful, cozy, group-friendly glamping spot.

This is a special place. If you're thinking about visiting, go ahead and do that. My girls are 3 and 5 and we paddled upstream and found enough terrain to explore for a two nighter. I've stayed here two other times to paddle the three sisters which is of course phenomenal. The wildlife diversity is really difficult to beat. Lisa is a great and kind host.
