This land was once owned by Noah Hays himself. He was the main farmer on this land along with other farming land on this road. Hints the name "Noah Hays Road". We stopped farming this land long ago but some of his relatives are still farming on the land he use to farm on. You will see one of his old plots still being farmed across the street from our property. I stayed in the artists cabin and was just in for a quick night’s stay. The place is so quaint and comfortable with a truly beautiful view of the pond via the deck. So much wildlife from this spot! I will definitely look to book this spot on my way thru Unicoi next time.

First I would highly recommend. The Pat and her son were most gracious. They provided a great tour of their place. Pat was baking goods for farmers market and Robin showed his blacksmith operation. The gallery where we stayed stood out with his handi work. I do plan on returning with my mini camper. I have stayed in various hipcamp sites, this one is tops. I really enjoyed the history of this farm place. The goats, buffalo and peacocks were an added feature. Wish I cold have stayed longer.

We loved our stay at Blue Bear Mountain. The drive up from Boone is forested, but as soon as you enter the campground, the view opens up and you can see the NC sky: great for seeing the stars on a dark night!
We stayed in the cabin, which was cozy and had a toilet separate from the campground bathrooms (shower was still in the shared campground structure). There is a small porch on the side for enjoying a quiet relaxing morning sunrise.
Mike is a very friendly host and was very responsive to any questions we had. We already saved Blue Bear Mountain as a campground we would book again on another trip up to Boone.

The Artist Studio was the perfect spot to stay on a solo road trip from Eastern Virginia to Nashville. The property was stunning and the studio was clean & cozy. Outstanding location 10 min from downtown Johnson City. The host, Pat, left delicious baked goods in the fridge of the studio. My highlight of the stay was enjoying a fresh baked good & coffee in the sun room overlooking the pond. Highly recommend!

Make sure to follow the written directions if coming in at night, as turning around if you go too far is a bit tricky.

My Family of three stayed in a small cabin right by Elk Creek. We had breakfast on a little balcony overlooking the creek. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Got there during the dark, so not having to setup a tent was certainly a benefit. Dianne is a great host and so very friendly and helpful!
