Easy communication with camp host. 😎 My husband fished the pond (when a kid wasn’t having time of his life cannon balling) and caught a 2 pound Bass. Site 5 is 4 wheel drive to get up to the area and its smaller but more private than other sites. Nice spot overall✨

Great place to camp! Felt very safe as a solo traveler and Kimber is so nice. The location is perfect if you are visiting SMNP. Would enjoy a day of hiking and would come back to enjoy some time with the animals. If you visit (which you should) make sure you follow the host’s directions, not a mapping app. Will definitely stay here again if I am down in Tennessee!

3 nights at At the Ridge Camp-Riverside Escapes

The cabin was cozy and perfectly nestled right on the river—just steps from the water. Loved listening to the sound of the current, watching the campfire flames, and waking up to birdsong. Great spot for a relaxing weekend, unplugging (literally), and enjoying nature. The various hosts and helpers were friendly and ready to assist. It's not fancy, but exactly what is needed at a great value. When you normally tent camp, carcamp/boondock, hike/backpack, it's all an upgrade!! This was my 3rd visit and will definitely be back! Only couple things to note, that some might want to know beforehand: there are 1 or 2 'resident RVs' other than the campground host in the campground and some (hunting?) dogs across the river/road that bark occasionally.

Wow. Just wow. This is definitely a unique spot and the hosts just get it what a good camping experience looks like. The property is clearly loved and cared for. The views and nature are breathtaking, water in the river is clean, the nights are starry, and above all nobody is bothering anyone. We were hesitant to write this review because we loved the place so much and didn't want it to become crowded. However the hosts deserve the recognition for their efforts — this place is a hidden gem. People, please help preserving it.

We loved the outdoor shower and how beautiful the area was. The hosts left books to read and games . Our daughter loved the hammock. Hopefully next time we will get to see the horses ❤️ will definitely be back. Hopefully earlier enough to be able to meet the hosts .

Weekend Trip to Above the Fray Glamping, Black Mtn.

We loved our time at 271! Great views, not too close to neighboring campers. We got a pop up rainstorm, and we were safe and dry. The hike up and down the steps (can cause sore knees if you’re not very active) was not slippery after the rain and provided beautiful views! We’ve already been recommending! Thanks Doug!

Weekend Trip to TangleWood Creekside Campsites

We really enjoyed our stay at the Shady Creek location! While you can see the other properties from your spot (Creekside is a close neighbor to the right), the overall view and access to the creek was beautiful and peaceful and the visitors are respectful. I was thankful for the amenities: Blair provided access to a porta-potty, power station, fan, and Keurig machine. We also paid for firewood ahead of time and it was waiting for us when we arrived. You are also very close to Pisgah National Park and Lake James. My two complaints are 1) the padlocked entrance gate is a bit cumbersome. I appreciate that the space is being protected from unwanted visitors, but as a chronic worrier, I felt uneasy thinking about having to go through that process in an emergency. 2) you can hear cars passing on the road behind your tent. It’s not heavy traffic, but noticeable if you were looking for a quieter nature escape. Overall, I would rate it 4.7 stars and would definitely stay at one of the Tanglewood properties again.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Top Cabins

We loved every aspect of our time - the privacy and quiet of the little cabin, the views from the front porch of the big cabin, breakfast and hanging out with Doug (the caretaker), laying on a picnic blanket up on the big bald, and just hanging out amongst all the birds and their singing. We'll be back!

Enjoyed our stay at site 0009. The site was level and facing the field that lead to the relaxing river. You can't see the river but can hear it from the site. The river is a slight walk across the field which the grass was a little high due to recent rain. We watched birds in late afternoon and June bugs fly above the grass in the early morning. There was a nice group fire pit. It was so peaceful except for the occasionally loud vehicle going up the hill on the road on the other side of the river (trees block the majority of the road.) I have already recommended to a friend and hope to come back one day. Two days wasn't enough time.

This is a fantastic site. It is clean, well cared for and the sites are private/secluded. It is also convenient as a basecamp to many destinations in western, NC. We will definitely stay here again.

This 384sf rooftop deck is a serene retreat with 10/10 views, perfect for lounging under the stars, moon, or sun. Quiet and cozy, it’s furnished with comfy seating, ample counter space, and plenty of electrical outlets. Convenient parking adds to the ease. With excellent amenities, it’s a great place to disconnect and enjoy a peaceful, starry getaway.

With panoramic vistas, stunning wildflowers, mountain spring water, sweet wild strawberries, and more, this place offers the perfect retreat. This was our third stay in Cabin 1. The amenities keep getting better and better, while still maintaining the peace and quiet and darkness that is so rare in most other places. Thank you for the hard work and vision to create this idyllic destination.

Catherine and Rick’s Mangalitsa farm is a beautiful place to stay with friends or family. We stayed on Rapids 3 which was absolutely beautiful on the river. Their directions to find the site were thorough and informative. Seeing the donkeys and piggies on the farm was great too! I picked up some fresh bratwurst, eggs and lard from the farm too to take home. They were so kind and made the stay a breeze. Sadly their farm was damaged in Helene but they have done a great job of restoring the land!

Raven ridge is a 5.0 acre property with plenty of botanical appeal, Appalachian charm and mountain views. James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters. Together they manage a botanically interesting hobby hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. We love hosting and nearly everyone enjoys their stay.

Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page. The booking is for 2 people, any guest after the initial 2 or pet will be $10 per night. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024. Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer long, especially in the evening! . The Raised bed style flat tent sites divert water during rain storms so there is no water or mud flowing into your tents. PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site and do not book by photos alone. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. PLEASE Do your research!!! Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking lot and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer coffee and sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. Do not book by ‘photos’ alone! We cannot stress this enough and it has been problematic to many hipcamp hosts We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Many weekends we have live music from local musicians. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is now open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. The Latest check in permitted is 11:30 pm at night out of courtesy to our neighbors and other campers. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. A rabies tag or photo of certificate is fine. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance. Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc. Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars. We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The One quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Note: The gray building and pond area is NOT our property. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the family that lives there. Do not wander around our neighbors pond /barn area. Thank you! All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe! Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. The Sites are situated far enough from each other to allow for privacy. Our land was originally where the Cherokee grew their medicine with Mt. Pisgah looking over us. Please be aware we are not completely cleared up after Hurricane Helene so we are limiting cars to 2 per site. There is parking about a mile away, or we can fit a 2 cars per site . If this is an issue please contact me to discuss. Also note we look a little different. The campsites are fine but the creek has changed its banks and the driving path moved a little. Please drive slowly on driveway and grounds. Drones are only allowed on our property and only in daylight hours and must be discussed with us prior. Our farm is Organic and we minimize the amount of chemicals used on it out of respect to the land. The creek has clean water, although we provide well water for the humans. Situated 20 minutes from Asheville and 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, we are close to civilization and far from the everyday hustle and bustle. This is a great place to unwind in nature. We will soon be adding Forest Bathing. The frogs eat most of the mosquitos and the fireflies will provide the nightly entertainment from May till August.
