Peaceful spot by the river
38 ft travel trailer · With pets · This was the perfect place to rest and reset, but still central to much of Western North Carolina. We visited Burnsville, Black Mountain, Montreat, and, of course, Asheville. AnnT was an extra accommodating host and (virtually) checked in often to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We did!
A few things to note so your stay is as awesome as ours:
The land is right on the road, but the neighbors were all super friendly and gave us our privacy. We set up so we faced the river and the sunset views. We only interacted with the neighbors occasionally and usually just a friendly wave as they drove by.
We almost let the geese spoil our stay. When we arrived, there was goose poo in the very spot we wanted to put our tent. We took a dog poo bag and picked up around the areas where we wanted to set up our tent. But there's a large tract of land, so you may not have our situation if you choose another spot. And once we got the area cleaned up, the geese didn't come back during our stay, but we got to watch them often--in the water or at a neighbor's plot. It was pretty impressive to see a whole flock of geese swim down river.
The mosquitoes and gnats were absent during the day. At night, they tended to swarm the lights but mostly left us alone at the fire pit.
If you don't already know, Ingles sells great firewood! Don't let that firepit go unused.
Enjoy your stay.
