This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds.
Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. You can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management.
This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life.
The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents that are all separate and private.
This is not a KOA style of camping where everyone is on top of each other.
All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you).
Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cool and serene.
Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest.
Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties.
We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay.

The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away.
Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive.
Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc.
Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing.

I moved here from San Francisco, to simplify my life, and accomplish my dreams. The Tiny house was designed and built by architect, Jesse Plaster. It's a unique cozy loft style design, set back in the woods on our property. It's purposely placed next to a creek, with a nice stone fire ring to really enjoy the outdoors. In the cold months, it's heated by a wood burning stove. Also next to the house are logging roads that allow you to hike the Ripshin Mountains. The Yadkin River is near by, and so is Boone and Blowing Rock. If you like mountain biking, bring your bike to ride Kerr Scott, or Zacks Fork trails. Also, check out the workshops at Pattersonschoolfoundation.org They offer sustainable living classes such as cheese making, mushroom foraging, blacksmithing, soap making, kimchi making, etc... My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border. the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet. The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road. The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard. The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool. The two cabins are along the river. One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river. The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin. There is room for a couple campsites along the river also. The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago. The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.

We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’.
As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult.
During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state.
We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks.
We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers.
Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit.
Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding.
Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe.
Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property.
It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance
Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc.
Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars.
We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas.
Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses.

All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe!
Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent.
Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

Weekend Trip to Adin`s river cabin
Adin’s river side cabin is a solitude paradise if that’s what you’re in need of! Or a family trip of great memories! The area is secluded and private with plenty of room to spread out! I wanted to get away and soak in the cool river before the heat of the summer sets in! And this was absolutely perfect. The indoor bathroom is the smallest shower I’ve ever seen in my life, but like Adin says sailor shower! It gets the job done. There is an outhouse that did not appear to be in use and has space in the back for an outdoor shower that I would totally utilize if I go again, just for the convenience and privacy it offers! The river access is just incomparable for the price. Hurricane Helene did make the beach area and cliff a little more perilous than original. But Adin has made a deck and a roped walkway where you can tube, soak or just sit and enjoy. And it has steps also into the water. The multi level decks offer the most peaceful views. Top deck for sunning, 2nd for morning coffee or lunch, 3rd for the bbq dinner, and a swing on the bottom that I used a lot!! Once even to wait out a rain shower before getting back in the river! The VHS collection is amazing and really makes you feel like its an unplugged vacation! Close to parks and falls and great views! Adin even had a suggestion for a local lady who could give me directions to a different local spot! I could have stayed a week or more! The 2nd deck even has a removable doggy door to keep the pups from running! Perfect!

We stayed in Tanglewood’s Safari tent. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. The kids loved playing in the creek and exploring the property. We saw several wild Turkeys while we were there. Everything was very clean.
It looks like they are adding even more glamping tents. It would be a lot of fun fora group.
There are also many beautiful tent sites on tge property. We may try that next!

Rocky Face Camp hosted by Sarah was the perfect spot for our father/son camping trip. We had three dads and six boys, and the setup was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of room to pitch tents, relax around camp, and enjoy time together when we weren’t out hiking the local trails.
The location was great — tucked away enough to feel like a true camping experience, but still conveniently located between Boone and Banner Elk so we could grab a hearty meal after a long day of hiking. The boys had an absolute blast, and the dads appreciated how peaceful and easy everything was.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly campsite with easy access to outdoor adventures and nearby mountain towns, we’d definitely recommend Rocky Face Camp.

Our villa and the property grounds were beautifully well maintained and set up! There is an attention to detail and care and so my family and I had a wonderful stay! It’s very close to town for purposes of dining and of course to the National Parks for all the adventure. The only and I mean only little meh is that the WiFi that’s supposed to be available is too weak to use and there’s very little cell service - it was not a dealbreaker for us cause that’s not what we were out there for, but just for a full FYI.

It was a great site and was well equipped for a sunset glamping experience. We ended up with lots of rain unfortunately and no sunset but the tent was totally waterproof and we stayed dry while sleeping! There was also a mini fan that helped with the humidity. We loved the fairy lights around the site and it was right next to the overlook with usable grills!

What a great camp site! Even in the rainy weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the LunaView Dome! The site has fabulous amenities and we loved being able to have our own little fire pit nearby. Hope to return someday!

This was such a cute place! The house was cute, there were dvd movies, an air mattress, and a french press! We cooked some steak on the grill. We also loved the incineration toilet. Loved the privacy and the creek. Kitchen utilities and cooking utensils supplied. Would totally stay here again. 😊

Exceeded our expectations! Such a nice place to experience nature and solitude. We had our 8 year old son and two dogs and the place was the perfect size for all of us. We enjoyed a rinse off with the outdoor shower, roasted marshmallows, hiked to the waterfall and just enjoyed each other. Highly recommended and would love to come back and stay a little longer.

A spot in an amazing location. Serene, private, and therapeutic. They have thought of everything and then more. All directions ahead of time. Easy to follow. We stayed at the Gnomes Yome and had a great time. The view off the road on the way into camp is worth stopping to take in. The yurt was well appointed and comfortable. The waterfall is worth checking out and just a short hike away. Love what Evan & Co. has created here and would definitely come back!

A wonderful campground. I love that each site has a great view. You might hear others around the campground, but you rarely see them and it doesn’t detract from the nature noises. The safari tent was really clean and all the cubbies and organization made it so easy to keep things tidy. We will def be back. Bath house very clean and new.
