This site is everything I could ask for in camping. The ranch is so beautiful and peaceful, and getting to camp by the river is such a beautiful privilege! The hosts are kind, helpful, and very responsive to all the questions I had. We also bought some of their pork, so good! I will be back SOON. It also is very accessible, and there is phone service there if you’re wondering! I can’t wait to come back this summer.

If you’re thinking about going, do it!! This is one of the best HipCamps we have ever stayed at! Leslie was super communicative and helpful before our stay in answering all our questions and to make sure we had all the info we needed. The cabin was beautiful and the perfect mix of feeling connected with nature while also being close to towns for us to explore. While the cabin was a bit closer to the neighbors than we expected (still far but you could see the houses from the cabin), we ended up meeting a few of the neighbors. They were all super welcoming and told us not to hesitate to ask if we needed anything during gf our stay (plus they didn’t mind our dogs being off leash at all)! The cabin also had a few more things available than we expected like an electric coffee pot with coffee grounds, filters and mugs, all of which were a very welcome surprise. Also, the cabin is only 1:15min from Asheville so we spent a day there and had a blast exploring restaurants and breweries. The only thing I would recommend is to follow Leslie’s instructions to download directions to the cabin and any music you want to listen to before your trip since there is no service on the property. And make sure to bring plenty of water!! We had an amazing experience and could not have asked for a better weekend. We will definitely be back!!

Catherine was great and the property was so cool. Rocks campsite had the river view and sounds I was craving :) Bring hammocks! However, buyer be aware! For riverside campsites like Rocks that were hit badly by hurricane Helene, they are trying to regrow the grass, so no tents/carpets on the grassy areas. That is 90% or more of the flat tent camping space. We found one ok spot for our small (4 person) tent in the pea gravel by the fire pit, so it worked out. But if we had brought a tent that was any larger (like the 6p tent we’ve been eyeballing), or more campers, we would have been out of luck. The other spaces in the pea gravel are not flat, and if you’ve ever slept on a hill you know it is… not great. Maybe they’d have allowed us to switch to another site if we couldn't make it work but I feel you should know (or double check) before you book. Also! Make sure to check for burn bans before you go! Big drought, wildfires in NC, strict burn ban meant that no campfires were had. Check before you go to set your expectations. Still, the amazing spot was worth it for us (2 ppl, 2 dogs). Good times were had and we would come back! And, thanks for the eggs, they were great!

I loved camping so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The campsite is well situated between the Parkway and Brevard. The site was very quiet and peaceful with the sound of the river right next to our site. We stayed at site 6. Tom, our host, was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. He gave us great local information about great places to see!

Great spot right on the river! We had a great time at At the Ridge Camp- Riverside Escapes. We are a family of 5 & stayed in cabin #2. It is a rustic camping cabin but was clean, spacious enough for all of us to sleep comfortably & had electricity. The showers were HOT & Tom made sure we had everything needed. They are still rebuilding from Helene but are definitely up & ready for campers! We will definitely be back.

It was a very pleasant stay. We got there about an hour after sunset and didn't have difficulty finding the property in the dark. Slept well listening to the sound of the river right next to us. I didn't realize that on the other size of the river was a road and we'd also hear cars. We purchased firewood from Carrie, and it was actually $10, not $5 like it mentions on the advertisement. We ended up wanting to get more wood, and that was a bit of a hassle as Carrie isn't actually the one managing the property. There were other people involved in managing the property that we had to communicate with and go find. Ultimately would've been easier to bring our own, but nevertheless we did acquire all the firewood we wanted, albeit all damp. There were some permanent residents on the property in nearby campers, all pleasant. Overall would recommend and may return in the future.

We came this past weekend to camp at the Rocks site. My husband, two toddlers, and dog loved it! It was a beautiful location and we were just a quick walk to feed the donkeys. The sound of the river was so relaxing at night. We will definitely be back over the summer! The hosts were awesome and responsive.

We are in our winter season offering only one campsite until March 2025 “Site 2 Knoll”~ come enjoy the river ranch all to yourselves! PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. Please review the Extras options as we offer river lifts, firewood and dog stays; thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Contact Catherine directly so you can be checked in safely and accommodate your schedule. LIMITED CHECK-INS AFTER DARK. We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Fall in love with our secluded Off-Grid Cabin located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Wake up to the sounds of a babbling creek and beautiful mountain views, hike the Road to Nowhere, kayak the Little Tennesee River, cook hot dogs over an open fire, and then open the glass panel garage door and fall asleep under the most beautiful sky you will ever see. Rowdy Bear Highlights: • 12ft glass panel door that opens the cabin to nature • Queen Tempurpedic bed • Rain Captured Shower • Fire Pit The Space: The Rowdy Bear is an Off-Grid Cabin that is situated in the Great Smoky Mountains with easy access to both Bryson City and Franklin. The cabin itself was built using rough sawn wood acquired from a local sawmill. Many of the items used in the cabin came from local shops or antique stores. There is a 2000-watt Solar Generator in the cabin that can be used for lights, charging cell phones, and running the pump for the shower. The Solar Panels are enough to charge the Generator to 100% each day. Rainwater is used for showers. The gutter system on the cabin is used to catch rainwater. The downspout runs into a "First Flush Diverter", which allows any dust, dirt, or anything else that might land on the roof between the rainstorms to be diverted away from the water storage tank. The clean rainwater then fills the water storage tank. Be aware that Rainwater is fine for showers, but is not meant for drinking. Propane is connected to a space heater and the shower. The space heater is 17,000 BTUs, which is plenty for colder nights. The shower has an at-source water heater and can heat the water up to 120 degrees, which is more than enough for a hot shower. A porta potty is provided for bathroom purposes and is cleaned and restocked every Thursday. Pets are allowed! The following items are provided: 1. Linens 2. Towels 3. Coffee, Coffee Pot, and Coffee Cups 4. Body Wash 5. Shampoo 6. Board Games 7. Lanterns 8. Two Person Table and Chairs 9. Two Rocking Chairs 10. four Adirondack Chairs for the Firepit 11. Firepit 12. Outdoor table for food and drinks 13. Propane Torch for lighting fires Guest access The Rowdy Bear is situated on 2.5 acres of land. There is a large section cleared off where the cabin is located. There is plenty of room for the fire pit, vehicles, animals, and any outdoor games you might want to bring (cornhole). Both Bryson City and Franklin are fairly close to the cabin. Bryson City is approximately 20 minutes away, while Franklin is approximately 30 minutes away. Both towns offer great little downtown areas that have shopping and restaurants. Don't be afraid to try the food trucks, they have some of the best food. Bryson City has many trails for hiking such as the Road to nowhere, Noland Divide Trail, Three Waterfalls Loop (FYI: There are three waterfalls on this trail), and Deep Creek Waterfall Loop. The fishing in Bryson City is also great and the guided trips are very reasonably priced. I would suggest going in the morning and doing a float trip. Franklin is bigger and a little more spread out than Bryson city, but there are a lot of neat little stores and restaurants. I personally like going to the Currahee Brewing Company. Currahee is right on the river and is set up to host live bands and it gets pretty lively in the late afternoons and evenings on the weekends. Other things to note One of the things you would want to bring is a 1 lb propane bottle for the Torch that is provided. Using the torch to start a fire is much easier than kindling. The solar generator has enough power to run the small coffee pot if you don't want to use the percolator. The generator also has enough power to run hair dryers. The main thing you want to keep in mind is anything that uses a heating element will drain the battery quickly. Lanterns are provided If needed. Overall, you should be good to go, but it is something to keep in mind.
