We love the Tent that we stayed in. We are lucky that it was only us who were staying in the whole place that day. The place is very spacious and beautifully decorated. We had our dinner in their bbq station and we enjoyed it! A lot of activities around to enjoy. We will definitely be back next time and will bring more friends to stay!

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway and we couldn't have found a better place. Sean is an amazing host and the property is a perfect retreat. The well maintained trails are perfect for exploring and an afternoon float on the lake was just what the doctor ordered! We are already planning our next visit with the kids!

We loved camping at Sean’s land! It’s beautiful and it was pretty quiet. Sean was really welcoming, he even gave us fresh eggs and marshmallows. We hope to come back soon!

The lake is beautiful and saw turtles, frogs and was a lovely walk around the entire lake. Unfortunately, I have dogs that scare easily and Scott’s dogs visit the camping area, so I did not stay. But the property was gorgeous and Scott was easy to communicate with and gave me fresh eggs when I arrived.

1 night at Tar River Life

The canvas tent was soooo lovely to come to after a long trip and it was amazing to wake up next to the river to the sound of birds singing. It was easy getting in & out. There were lovely hammock seats in the shade you could stretch out in. Billy & Nikki were easy to get ahold of, too. Wish we coulda stayed longer!

This property was absolutely beautiful, very well maintained, and so peaceful. The owner was so kind and welcoming. No mosquitoes or ticks in sight. Very convenient drive to/from the carrboro area. Hope to stay here again soon!

We really enjoyed our stay! Lots of room for our three large dogs to run, we hiked the trails and they all swam in the pond. Very private and quiet- highly recommended!

This was awesome, it has all the great things about camping. Nice outdoor spaces, fire pits, big communal spaces, but without the 'roughing it' due to air conditioning, nice showers, etc. I'd have a hard time getting my wife to go camping but she'd do this all the time!

We love going to this spot for a quick camping getaway! Phillip is an amazing host, who readily checks-in to make sure we found the camp ground and is super friendly.

This was the second time we’ve stayed here and it was just as good as the first. We even got to see our dog friend again which was such a delight. It’s a beautiful quiet property. Has a trash can by our campsite and a kitchen with a bathroom on the property that gives you everything you need. Our host Phillip was also super accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. We’ll definitely be staying here again next time we’re passing through.

My son and I had a great stay. He loved meeting the animals and had a nice relaxing stay. We had everything we needed on the premises to keep us entertained. He loved the cup of strawberry ice cream we bought at the farm store.

This was really an incredible experience! The campsites are next to a nature sanctuary which you are able to explore once it's closed to the public. There are tons of friendly dogs and cats that spend time with you as you wander. Two cats even stayed at the campsite! Highly recommend staying here, will definitely be returning

This has been our best camping experience since moving to eastern North Carolina. We’ve tried so many sites, but nothing quite hit the nostalgia button of what we camped in growing up in New England. This site nailed it. Very fair price, very clean, river access. So grateful to have found the spot.

Absolutely loved the sites. Each site was spaced apart so you felt like you were secluded. I loved being able to get in the river and float from my site. Each site was in shade which I know will be great next time I go. Really loved having fire wood on site and extra available if needed. The paths were great to walk on. The Host was very nice. We loved how close it was to stores if we needed anything. It also a great treat to go to Vollmer Farms store for ice cream which was like 2 minutes up the road.

I really loved camping at Tar River Life. The sites are spacious and clean. It was quiet and relaxing. No one bothered. We would recommend this campground and we will be booking again.

Fantastic spot for a relaxing getaway. We brought our dog along, and she had an absolute blast. The on-site amenities—bathroom, kitchen, and a screened-in porch—were a really nice touch. The outdoor shower added to the comfort of the stay. There’s also a small pond stocked with bass, so you can enjoy fishing all day. It’s a perfect place for a family camping trip, with shops and restaurants just a short drive away. We’d definitely return and highly recommend it!

The Saxapahaw Country Club is a beautiful 31-acre working farm and event space. Located just a few minutes from Saxapahaw Village, it's a convenient and gorgeous place to stay. While we are happy to be a late-night crash spot for after shows at the Haw River Ballroom, we hope you stay a minute to walk the fields, hang in the hammocks, sit by the pond, or take a swing from the branches of our 200 year old White Oak tree. You'll come down our curvy driveway through the trees, and see our event barn on the left. In front of the barn is a communal space for campers to enjoy with a great view. This area has a fire pit, chairs, wood-fired grill, handwashing station, and farm table. The shared outhouse/composting toilet is next to the pine stand with a white roof. Please note, this farm stay is an agritourism activity subject to the limit of liabilities as described in N.C.G.S § 99E‑32(b). We have sheep and pigs and a donkey rotating through pastures behind electric fencing. You are welcome to look but don't touch the fence! We also have 3 very friendly farm cats. Pork and lamb from the farm is available for purchase, as well as kiln-dried firewood. Nearby activities: Entertainment: Catch big acts at the nearby Haw River Ballroom venue or enjoy free live music at Saturdays in Saxapahaw. Shop vintage, records, VHS and more at Saxy-a-Go-Go. Support local artists at the Riverside Collective. Eats/Drinks: Cup 22 Coffee House and The Eddy Pub overlook the river. Haw River Farmhouse Ales, and the Saxapahaw General Store. Tar River Life

Back to the basics, come and experience Tar River Life’s primitive camping on the Tar River. Enjoy being on the river and listening to slow running sound of the Tar River. Bring your own tent or rent one of ours. You can drive your vehicle to all of our campsites. The drive to camp is about 1/2 miles. Each site includes a fire pit, wood and trash bin. Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped. Each site comes with a picnic table, 1 bundle of wood and trash can. Stay for a night or longer period of time, come and enjoy the outdoors with us. We have lots of walking trails, fishing access, wildlife, kayaking and tubing (must be purchased through us). 2WD vehicles are ok except during wet conditions. There is also the Vollmer Farm, with seasonal produce a Full Coffee Shop with breakfast goodies and baked goods and not to mention their fabulous ice cream. They have goods from around NC including, eggs, honey, meats, beers, wine and more. There is a grocery store (Food Lion) about 15 minutes away. So you can stock up on supplies on your way to your next adventure. We are pet friendly!

Our property is a private 25 acre forestry plot connected to an adjoining 130 acre family-owned plot, with only 1 house on the 150+ acres. Most of the land is wooded with a couple large fields. Long private driveway. 3+ miles of private maintained walking trails great for human and dog guests! There are a number of creeks that run on the property and a decent size pond with many species of birds- perfect for watching while having a morning coffee, or for an afternoon stint of fishing. Close proximity to downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill (12-15 minutes), 15 minutes to downtown Hillsborough, and 25 minutes to Durham.
