Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. Kayaks and trolling boats are welcome. No gas motors. Upon booking we can send a local tourism guide for the area. We are only 50 minutes from the beach and coastal towns. Pet Friendly campsites. At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear.
We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards.
Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining.
Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars.
Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture.
Tent camping or dry rv camping only at this time. Hot Shower, sink and full size toilet are provided in the bath house. No feeding of the horses allowed, or entering fencing. campers are welcome to visit or partake in farm experience with permission.

We absolutely love Rick and Helen and their beautiful property! We booked last minute because another site didn’t work out for us and we’re so glad we did! The site we stayed in was level and very spacious with plenty of room for our tow car. The water pressure was perfect and they had 50 amp power. There were lots of beautiful places to walk and explore with our two dogs and they have ducks in the pond. We saw geese and turtles as well. It’s quiet and peaceful in the evening. Rick and Helen were welcoming and wonderful hosts. The barn, covered bridge and beautiful pond set the scene for the perfect camping weekend. We will definitely be back!

The campsite was beautiful! Hundreds of tall pines throughout the campsite have provided campers with a wonderful cushion of pine needles underfoot. Meticulously clean and cared for sites. Very quiet. Would definitely camp there again next time I’m in the area. Couldn’t ask for a prettier spot to spend some time.

The campground is just beautiful! Meticulously maintained, every detail cared for. You could tell this was a place where people take pride in creating space for rest. And the hosts? Truly wonderful. Warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever being intrusive - the kind of people who make you feel like you belong the moment you arrive.
This was a perfect quiet space with beautiful bird sounds and the azaleas were blooming amazingly!

Our trip was delayed slightly, but Jeff and Megan were very easy to work with. Even though we arrived much later than expected, we were greeted by Jeff. He met us at the entrance and helped us get parked, took time to show us around even though it was raining.

We actually stayed at site 8 and loved it! The owners were very nice and accommodating! This was truly a beautiful little getaway, and it’s great for couples or those with kiddos like us. Our family really enjoyed kayaking/jon boating on the pond and having a little fire while laying under the stars. The hosts were extremely responsive, helpful and accommodating. We tried to get ahead but ended up stuck through the snow storm. In a panic I made the wrong reservation but without hesitation there was someone on the phone to ensure we safely arrived in the proper slip. Clean restrooms, friendly staff, laundry facilities, accessible trash area and even had a propane filling station. Walmart close by and near a plethora of places to eat…when not snowed in. Definitely recommend. Only advise: to consider not showering while laundry is in use - only due to low pressure and lack of control to fire and ice temperatures 😅 **this is Not a complaint, just to be aware**

Beautiful, private and somewhat enchanted. We felt such a sense of peace here. From the first contact with Mike, we knew it would be special. Large, private lots were scattered throughout the wooded area. Very well landscaped and looking forward to returning when everything is in bloom. If this is any indication of what our retirement will be like, we’re ready to explore now. A lot of love and care has built this place and it shows!
