Welcome to my peaceful homestead in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This rustic studio space I affectionately call Chicken Church, has been a labor of love, using all the materials I have collected from my many construction projects over the years... and many states. My friends all know who to pass the junk along to. The space is heated with a wood stove and has an antique 1922 wood cook stove--do you know how to cook on one? The kitchen is set up with a sink, water kettle and cooking amenities, including an electric stove.
Bathroom amenities: cold water sink and toilet. No shower inside, but there is an outdoor shower, propane heated. (NOTE: Heater gets removed at first 32° and won't be available in November.)
The main house on the property is within 200 feet, where I share the space with Airbnb guests. There is a close neighbor family to the left, about 250 feet away. Because my property is in a residential neighborhood, respect for neighbors and other guests is greatly appreciated.
Outside, you’ll feel an instant sense of peace and tranquility surrounded by horses, happy, free ranging chickens, abundant woods, gardens, ponds with some new baby geese chicks soon, open lawns and a fire pit for your restful getaway. I have a pup who monitors the outdoors... and to keep it uncomplicated, i cannot accept other pets.
Asheville is about a 12 minute drive: Known as the craft beer capital in the US, there is no shortage of breweries. You don't have to go very far to find a plethora of trails in this town, including the mountain to sea trail which is easily accessible from this neighborhood. The farm to table scene is amazing... so much good food! Eat! Eat! Eat!

We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.
*FAQ: Is this a good spot to bring my kiddos?
Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.
WHAT'S NEARBY?
- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)
-Hiking! Waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers... There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes.

If you're looking to escape to the mountains, look no further! Wild Ridge Trail is a place where you can come to unwind, relax, and take in the fresh air of our N.C. mountains! We are located only 10/15 minutes from all of the exciting things Asheville has to offer and just as close to the charming small town of Black Mountain!
The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :)
Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. We also have a list at the cabin of other places nearby that provide hot showers in the winter months for a small fee.
In the rare event that heavy snow is expected, we will have to close the road leading up to the cabin because of its steepness. If this occurs, you will be given a full refund for the cancellation.
To heat the cabin, there is a un-vented wall mounted heater that heats the space really well! Since the cabin is insulated, the heater works quick to heat the small area up so you will stay nice and cozy!

This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well.
There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it.
Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night.
If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know.
And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away.
On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on.
This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

Bald Eagles have been seen on April 27th, 2026! The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in both sunny and rainy weather. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system that allows guests and dogs to be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned frequently. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky. PMany of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful, please.
Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

All refrigeration and cooking appliances are propane; and so is the basic heat (propane again) - and a very old Jotul wood stove will do the rest. I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

Raven ridge is a 5.0 acre property with plenty of botanical appeal, Appalachian charm and mountain views. James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters.
Together they manage a botanically interesting hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water"
Orchard House was built entirely by James from the cement blocks to the roof. It’s very creative and cozy, besides spacious for a tiny home. People describe it as “dreamy”, also “perfect”.
Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. We love hosting and nearly everyone enjoys their stay.

We rented the camper for Mother’s Day weekend just myself and my 11-year-old daughter and we truly could not have had a better time. The farm is tucked away in the beautiful mountains peaceful and secluded yet still close to Asheville (25 min) and Canton (10 min). We arrived and were immediately greeted by friendly goats and the host and instantly felt welcomed and at ease. The camper was cozy and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. We opened the windows to the mountain breeze and settled in. Beds were very comfortable with soft blankets and extra pillows that made it feel like home. We loved the little touches…coffee pot French press toaster Bluetooth speakers firewood and string lights that made evenings feel magical. Nights by the fire were peaceful and sunsets breathtaking. The fireflies were pure magic my daughter said the trees looked like Christmas lights. She fell in love with the animals goats horses donkey and the sweetest puppy right outside our door. She knew every goat’s name by the end. We also enjoyed exploring nearby Canton with Asheville close by. Dani was a wonderful host so kind welcoming and easygoing giving us the perfect balance of hospitality and space. This was one of the most special mother daughter trips we’ve ever had and we’re already hoping to come back. Pretty sure my husband and son are already planning their own trip here next month!

Absolutely stunning building. It smells so good. Like fresh cedar. It had everything we needed to cook and then some. Honestly best shower of my life. You can’t even tell you’re on a deck. The loft beds are not for the claustrophobic or very large bodies, but they provide a blow up queen size mattress as an alternative. I’m unsure of its quality. The ladder is also quite tricky. I just wish they thought of accessibility a bit more in the loft designs. Other than that this place is a dream! Can’t wait to return someday.

Weekend Trip to Bee Our Guest
Absolutely beautiful views, from the time you wake up, to the time you go to bed. The wood stove is a huge plus, especially since it got down to about 33 our last night in. The outdoor shower was great! Literally felt totally isolated and enjoyed our time to ourselves. Played some cornhole, had fires, enjoyed the birds, enjoyed the view from the dome. Everything was great. We will deff be going back! Thanks again!

An absolutely amazing place to camp. It was me and a friend and we felt very safe and definitely spoiled by the beautiful views!!
We will definitely come back, and bring our friends to rent a second space beside us! With all of the storms that came through while we were there we’re crazy but having the porch cover and tarps provided we stayed way more dry than a normal campsite!

Nicely appointed camper (everything you need, nothing you don't) on a small farm with phenomenal views from the patio table out front. Festive lighting, great bed, plentiful linens, cute goats and ornery donkey 🤣. Friendly hosts approved our stay on short notice which we appreciated. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Asheville Area Luxury Glamping Deck
Seriously one of the best glamping cabins ever. My husband and I had a kid free night and wanted a little get away that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. We stumbled upon this and had everything we needed to relax. The host was extremely helpful and accommodating to all of our request. I will certainly be back and recommend this place to everyone!

Absolutely loved our stay in this cute cabin! Everything was clean and beautifully set up on arrival. Amenities were plentiful (we definitely over prepared for the trip lol) and the views were great. Location is super convenient, being a full mountain retreat while also being 15 mins away from both Black Mountain and Asheville, so there’s a lot to do aside from the numerous walking trails. Deserae was also extremely helpful and responsive! We are absolutely going to be staying here again!

Super amazing location! The deck was great! We didn't even setup the tent, just the air mattress! Black Mtn is such and cute town to wander around! I would highly recommend you go!

What an absolutely magical space to unwind in. This cabin is truly a hidden gem amongst one of the most beautiful areas in the Carolinas.
Katlyn is an exceptional host, and thought of all of the little things to make our stay just perfect. We will definitely be returning again!

Weekend Trip to Red Rooster Farm: AVL Adjacent!
We were super pleased with Danielle's setup. The view was so pretty from the camper and camper was decorated thoughtfully and had all that was needed for our stay. We really enjoyed the fire pit to make s'mores and of course all the animals. Loved meeting the goats, horses, and donkey. I got to feed the goats some snacks. Hope to stay again and would recommend to anyone!

Turning into one of our favorite places to camp. Second time coming here. First time was an impromptu booking when rain was in the forecast. It’s so beautiful and peaceful but with the convenience of being close to town and having water and power. With a dog and a young child, having the ability to lock them in a fenced in area but still feel like we’re remote camping is the best.

Weekend Trip to The Cabin At Wild Ridge Trail
We had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed it there so much, we asked to stay another night. We didn’t want to leave. Cabin has everything you need for a relaxing weekend. Deserae’s place is where I want to stay when I stay near Asheville. She is very attentive and quick to respond. Sunset view from a cozy bed, really can’t beat it!
