He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about. We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

Quaint, private campsite on babbling Adirondack brook for singles or couples only at our 180 yr old farm. Though we love children and critters, we created our campsite as a quiet private refuge for adults, couples or singles, no pets please. We can accommodate a tent, campervan or small tow behind camper ( less than 16 feet). Your private access off a two lane state road goes 200 feet through a mown meadow, down a short graveled incline to the edge of a lovely babbling brook. There are two gravel pads to choose from or set your tent up on the grass. There is "limited" 20 amp electrical power available, you can plug in your rig but it won't support all your 30 amp RV demands. There is an open air shower house with hot water, an outdoor kitchen with a sink and small refrigerator. The water in the sink/shower and hose bib is filtered brook water and NOT POTABLE !! We will supply a 5 gallon dispenser of drinking water for your use. When nature calls there is a very nice, very clean outhouse, complete with curtains. There is dry split campfire wood in the woodshed available for sale by adding cash to a lock box. It is a honest/honor system. There is a small deck with two vintage chairs overlooking a small waist deep plunge pool that is a great way to cool off on a hot day. There are also a couple of shady spots for a nap in your hammock. Our 15 acre homestead dates back to 1840. We live in the restored original post and beam Cape that is flanked by vintage barns and outbuildings. We are recently retired and have a small organic farm and woodworking shop. Our property is conveniently accessed by a two lane state road that goes through Saranac Lake (10 mi) on the way to Lake Placid(18 mi). The numerous local mountains, lakes and rivers provide limitless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Excellent bike routes can be accessed right from your campsite or you can drive to the new Adk Rail Trail or local Mtn bike areas. We live and work here, 500 ft from the site. We are, therefore, available to help with logistical issues and more importantly can recommend anything from backcountry rambles to fine dining and of course the best local brewpubs, one is 3 miles away. We can just as easily disappear... Please ask any questions you might have...

Weekend Trip to Weaver Acres

This campsite was great! during the busy time of year, I can see it being nice because its slightly down the street from the main little wolf campground. So you are a bit removed from the main area but still within walking distance to all of its amenities! I was there when the main camp was closed so the beach was very nice and quiet! The fire pit was also a very nice touch!

We arrived late and left early so didn't get to enjoy everything the site offered, but were pleased with our spot and would happily come back another time to explore more. We appreciated the privacy of our spot and the fact that there were hookups if we wanted them. The place is a bit hard to find at night (Google Maps and Apple Maps take you to different places), so recommend arriving while you still have some light.

We really appreciated finding such a nice site, with full hookups, in late October, when most all the regular campgrounds have closed for the season. We end up staying extra days, 4 days total, because of rain. Cozy spot. Still close to town for restaurants, laundry, groceries. Loved getting in a bike ride on the newly opened Adirondack Rail Trail, accessed just down the street. Only negative, with the rain, the site called Forest View 1 got quite muddy. Too many campers have laid out big rugs, killing a large section of the grass. Otherwise, the sites are all grass.

Great little spot near the lake. Exactly as described. Good communication from host. Would recommend if you’re looking for a simple quiet stop over with hook ups and more room and flexibility than your average campsite - close to an area of natural beauty. Would recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful Family Cabin Getaway! We had a great experience staying at this cozy cabin with our kids. The place was clean, comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful nature. We had so much fun together — hiking, playing games, and relaxing by the fire. It was the perfect spot for a peaceful family escape. We’d definitely come back again

Weekend Trip to Weaver Acres

The pup & I had a wonderful weekend away on Cara’s land, it was just what we needed. Found it very peaceful & relaxing. There were two other campers setup but we were on the upper lot and had our own space. All of the local trailheads were packed up so we just had a nice little walking adventure around Little Wolf Pond and it was so nice. Site had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend away - power, water & sewer hookups as well as a fire pit, picnic table and Adirondack chair. Definitely recommend to anyone especially this time of year, the colors around the pond were great! Thanks again!!!

Hosts were absolutely delightful and the site was beautiful and well kept. They made sure we had everything we needed and even gave us fresh tomatoes and flowers. 10/10 recommend and would absolutely go back. This place is so awesome I want to gatekeep it.

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

We loved Outerspace! We stayed at the Knotty Pines site and it was awesome - private, cozy, and had everything you’d need for camp including table & chairs, cooking grate, some utensils, and sink. Cara was so nice and had some great suggestions for things to do. Easy to find, easy to drive in an out, clean toilet…a really great spot!

1 night at Waddington's Leishman Point

Wonderful spot and view! We were the only ones there which was great as the sites are very close together. They are not in the field anymore and lined up side by side. We’re not sure how we would have liked it if others were there. But the views were awesome. We do travel with our dog and there are a lot of dog walkers especially in the evening. Most are respectful and keep their dogs on leash but not everyone and we did have a dog run up to us while we were in our screen tent having dinner with our dog. We wish people would respect the rules but there’s always people who don’t. We were there mid September.

Weekend Trip to Sweetwood Farm Brookside Camping

I just returned home from three nights at Sweetwood but I still feel as if I'm in a dream. Tom and Lisa have created a peaceful, extremely private, lush oasis nestled by a literal babbling brook. Every detail was considered and artfully executed, from the pristine outhouse to the blue bottles that looked like stained glass embedded above the portal to the outdoor shower - which has hot water! You will not find more charming, generous and welcoming hosts. They met me in person when I arrived, had flowers from the garden waiting in the well outfitted kitchen and sent me off with a honey crisp apple when I left. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. There is a short but steep hill to get to the site, but my Subaru Impreza had no problem handling it. You will also hear the occasional truck on the roadway, but it isn't loud or bothersome (and I am usually extremely noise averse) thanks to the aforementioned hill which acts as a noise buffer, and the camping spot sits back quite a ways. I can't wait to go back!

Great camping site with plenty of area. Lots of locals hanging out at night and unattended dogs visiting the campsite. Wasn’t as private as we would have liked but that was due to others not necessarily the campsite itself.

My doggie CB and I enjoyed the time we spent at Paul Birch's Lakeside CG. The campers we met were extremely friendly and helpful and its a very dog friendly place!! Site 10 was awesome and we were grateful to be their for the Sept full moon which was a spectacular site over Lake Cranberry! Charlie Brown and I will be back

This campsite was amazing! We wanted the pond site originally but so happy we went with Knotty Pines. It has everything you want to have when camping. Big pines, view of the stars, and a big fireplace. Not to mention a swing set, picnic tables, and plenty of space. This campsite was BIG! Our host Cara was by far the kindest host we have ever had on our hipcamps. She was so welcoming and down to earth. She’s committed to make sure your experience a good one. Could not have been happier with this site. We absolutely loved it!
