We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve. It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers. The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present. In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards. Learn more about this land: Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range.   Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream.    The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway.    There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils.  There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well. Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful.  The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night.  As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright.  Nearby Attractions: The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available.  In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night. Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails. Other nearby outdoor attractions include:  Williamstown MA, The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock. Simply incredible! From the moment you turn into Grateful Acres you will feel relaxed and comfortable. The cabins are super clean and thoughtfully stocked with often overlooked essentials (fire poker, games, solar string lights, etc.). Stephanie is very responsive and her son Noah, who I had the pleasure of meeting in person is super chill and welcoming. This Hipcamp embodies the Dead vibes, as advertised! The corn hole setup was perfect, and our pups really loved the basket of doggy toys! The portapotty and compost outhouse were super clean and well stocked as well. We came up for a night to fish and swim at the reservoir, but didn't end up leaving the campsite because we were having so much fun! We can't wait to come back again later this summer. Weekend Trip to Grateful Acres Vermont

Staying at Grateful acres was a long strange trip in all the right ways. We were beyond grateful we chose the sunshine cabin during a weather worrying weekend. The cozy set up- complete with the picnic table, fire pit and 2 Adirondack chairs- gave us the perfect place to relax, play games during the rain, and enjoy corn hole and other field games once the sky cleared. One thing that really stood out was how thoughtful and welcoming the camp was. The nighttime lighting around the camp, made it easy to find your way after dark, including the classic Deadhead trip to the porta potty. What's a dead show without one? Even better, it was stocked with soap, water, wipes and twinkle lights. Stephanie and her son were also incredibly responsive and kind. Helping us out quickly with some unexpected mechanical issues during our stay. We also loved exploring the nearby green Mountain national Forest and the beautiful Somerset reservoir. Even with the rainy weather, the scenery was stunning, and we were already hoping to come back when the sun is shining so we can kayak, fish. If your coming at night the dirt road is a solid 20 minutes long, but once you get there, grateful acres is one of those places where once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest places if you look at it right.

I loved our stay from the moment we got there until the very end! We were greeted by two of Kim's dogs that guided us right to pocket corner cabin. Kim brought us up firewood and water to douse the campfire. The little cabin itself was nice, the door was secure so we could contain our pups at night, you can open the windows to listen to the night sounds and it had cute quirky decor with comfy mattresses. I absolutely loved interacting with the alpacas, chickens and even the turkey once I realized that he wasn't trying to kill me and just trying to say hello. LOL Little big guy is quite a character but then so are some of her roosters, especially Adolf. Overall there was plenty of space to move around and explore, Kim was the perfect host, available for any questions or help that we needed but not obtrusive. She invited us into her life allowing me to help feed the animals and I cannot wait to go back!
