This property is part of an original hundred acre woods in the Adirondack Park overlooking Lincoln Pond. My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. The deck with the Yurt is the beginning of an eventual cabin. I live in the main house from late May until late October and decided to share it with like minded nature loving folks. It’s a 1/2 mile hike from the parking lot with total privacy.Learn more about this land:Located on top of a hill on a 100 acre wildlife sanctuary overlooking Lincoln Pond and the Adirondack High Peaks. Sleep comfortably in a quaint cabin with easy access to Adirondack hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hunting and relaxing. Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about.  Please let us know if we can answer any questions or provide something special to make your stay even better.

ADK Treehugger's Paradise

4. ADK Treehugger's Paradise

33mi from Saranac Lake · 1 site · Lodging · Westport, NY
Fully equipped Camper, with a spacious front porch. Maximum: 4 occupants. Queen bed. Futon inside the camper sleeps one. A large futon on the porch sleeps two. Bunk beds for two children <10. Full kitchen. Composting toilet and outhouse (no flush toilet). Indoor tiny shower, plus an outdoor shower and washer/dryer. Close to Elizabethtown, Essex. Pet friendly, with 32 acres of woodland with trails that will take you to ledges with views of Coon Mt. Easy access from I-87, the Adirondack Northway. We used to do a lot of canoe camping in our younger days. We call this "glamping." Refrigeration, a/c, high-speed WiFi, and an oven are wonderful luxuries... Good news! We will be fully solar-powered soon… hopefully in September! We tried to imagine what we would want if we were returning from a week-long canoe trip. A hot shower, a washer and dryer, an internet connection, and a good hot meal. We are “living the dream in the Adirondacks,” and we are happy to share with others. We have enjoyed visiting the Adirondacks for many years. My father was born in Keene and grew up in Keene Valley. We still have family in the area. My husband Richard and I just retired in June 2024. We could not think of a more beautiful and peaceful place to live out our retirement years. We searched for 6 years and finally settled on the gray house in Westport, with 32 acres of wooded land. You have the entire camper, porch, high-speed satellite internet, full kitchen, indoor full bathroom with composting toilet, outdoor shower and washer/dryer, fire pit, outdoor seating, outhouse, and 32-acre woodland surroundings. Feel free to explore the two marked walking trails (former logging trails). One is marked with orange tags; the other is green. Park in front of the camper.
