Leishman point is owned by the Town of Waddington and was created during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Dredge spoils were transported and placed creating a tract of land
that rises 50 feet above the river and surrounding lands.
The New York Power Authority acquired the property from the Leishman's who owned and operated a farm on the surrounding lands.
In 2000, the New York Power Authority deemed the property surplus and conveyed it to the Town of Waddington.
This Hip-Camp endeavor is hopefully our first step in creating a fully functional RV Park and campsite for everyone to enjoy.

Overlook Lean-To, Treehouse, primitive campsites, and so much more! This is glamping at its finest. Our property was originally used as a seasonal hunting/fishing camp in the 1920's. Sheila and Bob bought it in the early 80s and have turned it into an amazing compound built for their family. You don't have to be an interpretive dancer (though it's probably recommended) to understand the helpful interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the Beaver Pond Nature Trail passes at Higley Flow State Park. Despite the otherwise heavily-wooded and hilly terrain, there is a sandy beach for swimming and plenty of leveled campsites so you won't roll your own little dam down stream. Take advantage of the many amenities this camp has to offer, even for winter visitors (ice fishing, anyone?), but be aware that they do allow hunting during certain peak seasons so be sure to check the calendar and throw the oranges in tow!

Wonderful spot and view! We were the only ones there which was great as the sites are very close together. They are not in the field anymore and lined up side by side. We’re not sure how we would have liked it if others were there. But the views were awesome. We do travel with our dog and there are a lot of dog walkers especially in the evening. Most are respectful and keep their dogs on leash but not everyone and we did have a dog run up to us while we were in our screen tent having dinner with our dog. We wish people would respect the rules but there’s always people who don’t. We were there mid September.

Great camping site with plenty of area. Lots of locals hanging out at night and unattended dogs visiting the campsite. Wasn’t as private as we would have liked but that was due to others not necessarily the campsite itself.

Woodland Grove Camping at Adirondack Adventure Base is such a gem. The property is calm, pristine, and full of charm with cute little trails to wander right on-site. It feels like a perfect mix of peaceful and fun.
Bob and Sheila are the kindest, most thoughtful hosts, and it was such a treat getting to spend time with them. Mim is just the coolest human being ever and made the stay even more special. We also got to try their maple syrup, which truly was the best we’ve ever had.
The spot is also in an ideal location, just a short drive to Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and some of the most beautiful hiking and sightseeing in the Adirondacks.
We left already talking about when we’ll come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable Adirondack stay.

A nice four site HipCamp overlooking the St Lawrence River and Canada. It looks like they are working on adding utilities. We had a nice constant breeze from the west that kept us cool. It is a public park so you will see others and a lot of people took advantage of the open campsites for the river view. There were also a lot of dogs off lead so watch where you step. The cut pasture made for a nice hiking trail and the beach and playground areas looked nice. We didn’t need it, but we never found where to get potable water or where to discard your trash bag at the beach keepers cabin.

The view is amazing. James, the host gets back to you quickly with answers your questions. I loved watching the sunset and the barges going by. The restrooms are clean and available during the day. There is swimming in the park on the same property and a wonderful playground if you bring kids. They have made a lot of improvements to the campsites including rock driveway and pads. I very nice park.

We loved this unique site on a peninsula bluff jutting right into the St. Lawrence River. It's very open so there are sweeping views of the river and of Canada across the way, and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. We had a nice conversation with the manager of the park (and his dog) about future campsite developments. We really enjoyed our overnight here.
