It is a reminder of “I am what I am because of who we all are.” We do our best to bring the spirit of Ubuntu to our lives and property that we have been graced with. We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Ubuntu was the PERFECT place to observe the Northern Lights on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser. Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Ubuntu was the PERFECT place to observe the Northern Lights on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. Holly has a great setup boardering state park land with trails that connect. The area has a lot to offer with some great hikes. They have potable water available close to the camp site and a porta potty at the site. If you like animals, they have all sorts of farm friends for you to watch and visit with. It was a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful Family Cabin Getaway! We had a great experience staying at this cozy cabin with our kids. The place was clean, comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful nature. We had so much fun together — hiking, playing games, and relaxing by the fire. It was the perfect spot for a peaceful family escape. We’d definitely come back again

Weekend Trip to - Ubuntu -
Spent one night at Ubuntu while exploring the Adirondacks with my doggo. Loved the privacy of the site, views of hillsides with fall colors, stargazing and walking paths! Aisha was kind and attentive when she greeted us and the wood bundle was a generous size and dry. There were other campers, but the smaller site in the woods was completely private. Would go back!

This is my second time back to Camp Moonset and I loved it again! Bill has a beautiful piece of land, summiting Mt Pelkey is always a treat- beautiful view during peak foliage all to ourselves! The camp is basic but has everything you need.

2 nights at Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
My husband and I stayed in Sara and Matt's tiny house the night after our wedding for some relaxation in the woods. It was truly an amazing place to stay that was beautifully crafted and VERY comfortable. The house is minutes from town where we had amazing meals at Blue Moon Cafe and Campfire and did some fabulous shopping. We enjoyed coffee on their porch and while we didn't get a chance to use the fire pit, it is very quaint and picturesque. Their outhouse is also very well crafted and thoughtfully stocked. Thank you for the wonderful stay to start our married life! We can't wait to visit again!

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

Beautiful site with so much space with a fire ring and a picnic table. Aisha went above and beyond and met me upon arrival. Without asking, she considered what I might need most and suggested to have the site closest to the outhouse. As a solo woman traveling, I really appreciated that. The outhouse also smelled awesome with the cedar shavings you scatter after use. Her artworks brought a relaxing vibe and her living close by made me feel safe. It truly deserves to be the best of hipcamps in NY.

We loved Outerspace! We stayed at the Knotty Pines site and it was awesome - private, cozy, and had everything you’d need for camp including table & chairs, cooking grate, some utensils, and sink. Cara was so nice and had some great suggestions for things to do. Easy to find, easy to drive in an out, clean toilet…a really great spot!

Great centralized yet secluded spot. The lean to was the kids favorite to hang out at, eat meals, etc. Water from a well was provided, water pressure wasn’t the best but just filled our white tank and used water pump, power was also provided. Totally recommend for anyone looking a spot to explore ADK!
