We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address.
Please note: We ask for photo ID. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical.
We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses.
Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding.
Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm!
Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please.
Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us.
Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside.
Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby.
We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail.
Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you.
We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age.
There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash.
This is a pack in and pack out working farm not a party spot. Renting from us constitutes your reading of our rules attached to each property, your understanding and your agreement of our policies. The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette.
The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, and an induction stove top.
We recently wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower.
Outside the cottage is a small garden, picnic table, fire pit, and chairs.
Our land is mostly sloped fields that we are slowly turning into meadows full of native flowers and plants. There are mowed paths through the tall grass.
This is perfect glamping spot, a mixture of comfort and nature.

I had great stay in the snow- cabin has everything you need. One minor setback: my honda fit couldn't make it up the hill! In the winter make sure you have snow tires or 4WD
Marlene and her husband were very helpful, helping me park my car at the bottom of the hill and driving my stuff right to the cabin in their truck. Thanks for everything!

Went to go winter camping and had a great time. The camping spot was great and plenty of downed trees to get fire wood from. It’s a great soot for hot tent camping. Pets are allowed off leash too so this was a great spot for me and my dog.

Weekend Trip to The Deer Crib at Flat Rock Farm
Excellent get-away experience. Exactly as described, put together by folks who are very practically-minded and resourceful. Total peace and privacy with very good comfort in primitive setting. Wood stove was key to cold winter nights, plenty of heating capacity to spare. Gas mantle lights are very nice touch as well.
Host is immediately responsive and excellent communicator.

This site was perfect for us! We came with our dogs and they loved running around on the trails and in the fields - the site had a picnic table and cooking area, and we grabbed firewood, eggs, maple syrup and a few other goodies from the farm stand on the way in. David and his family were amazing hosts, checking in periodically to see if we needed anything to make our stay even more comfortable. We took advantage of the permanent tent at the site and our own tents, both were super fun - we will most definitely be back again, thank you David and family!

Caitlin’s little witch cabin was perfect for our mini getaway. It was our first time in the Catskills and I’m glad we came across her Hipcamp. We basically got to do everything we planned for (hikes, food) because her place was in such a great location! Getting around was very easy and we had great cell service through out the trip. As a beginner ceramicist, I was in awe of her work! She is very talented and creative and has a great eye for decor. The bed was super comfy and we loved the outdoor shower! What a great trip! The cabin was wonderful with the wood stove and such a great history there. The property was VERY secluded and quiet, a great pond for the dog to jump in, horses right in the meadow, and great trails right off rhe edge of the yard. A+ trip and hosts, well def be back!

Weekend Trip to Berkshire Beech House
This was one of our favorite hip camp locations we visited. When they said private, they meant it! It's less than a minute walk from the parking area and has everything you could ever need; charging stations, picnic table, fire pit, recommendations, heat, you name it! Our favorite was the cute little basketball hoop because we are children at heart. Michael was also an incredible host who communicated with us well and left clear, easy to follow instructions. You have the option to purchase firewood from him or you can go into town and get some from local stores. It is also nearby many trails, beautiful scenery, coffee shops, and of course the beautiful North Adams. If you're looking for a truly private serene getaway, this is the spot for you.

Great place to stay, very scenic, historic, and private farm that is family run for generations. We ended up switching to another spot last minute and David was able to accommodate, we had a whole back hay field to ourselves and our dogs for the whole weekend. Incredibly tranquil setting for a weekend getaway to nature!

Jules and Jerome met us at the tipi with their dogs and we immediately knew it would be a wonderful stay. The tipi itself was beautiful, with plenty of firewood for the woodstove, and the surrounding farmland was stunning, along with the goats, horses, and dogs. The outhouse nearby was lovely as well. Beautiful fields and forest trails on their land too. Highly recommend staying there!

We absolutely LOVED our short stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. The witch cottage is so comfortable and cosy, and so beautifully decorated. The bathroom is outside but super close and really comfortable and easy to use. We were laughing that it's truly more comfortable than the bathroom in our tiny NYC apartment! I highly highly recommend staying here.
