Nestled outside the village of Stillwater, NJ right across the Appalachian trail and the Kittatinny Mountain Ridge, Camp David sports three luxurious log cabins: > Bell's Cabin- Main cabin that sleeps up to six > The Chatham House- Sleeps up to ten > Chief's Cottage- sleeps up to ten All cabins have their own separate listing and can be booked together or combined. The main cabin, Belle's Cabin, is made from hand hewed logs and is the only cabin furnished with a king size bed. All cabins have climate controlled heating/cooling units as well as hot water. Camp David was originally a German hunting camp at the turn of the 20th century. By the 2000’s, it was left abandoned at which time I purchased it and began to restore it back to its true form while maintaining the cabin life integrity. I am a contractor and arborist by trade and the last ten years I have worked hard to bring the site back to life. The camp consists of 13 acres abutted by 100's of acres of state park land. There are two stocked ponds connected by a cascading stream, multiple fire pits with seating, furnished gazebo with wood stove, picnic tables, and multiple park benches located throughout the property. The campsites at the organic farm are great, spacious and secluded. A lot of birds and several deer were attracted by the pond. The farm is very close to the city and the trails, at very convenient spot for everything one needs. Communication with Eric was excellent! I would come again anytime.

Eric checked in everyday just to make sure our stay was going smoothly. The campsite was the perfect size and close to a lot of different hiking trails. Eric truly was a great host!

Eric’s land is beautiful, with walking trails, a pond, and 3 campsites that are far enough away from each other to make you feel like it is just you and the wilderness. He has farm animals but I could not hear them from my campsite. Peaceful place with no RVs. If you are a tent camper this is idyllic.

Loved this quiet spot along the river! The campsite was clean, peaceful and perfect for our stopover on the way to VT. Wishes we could have stayed a couple days and enjoyed a bit more! Definitely would come back in the warmer season and enjoy the water and nearby attractions.

Weekend Trip to Historic Riverside Farm
I will come back again and again. This was the most relaxing trip I’ve had. There are not many sites to offer private and peaceful camping. We were able to watch blue herons, egrets and geese fly in, in the morning and land on the river. We were able to enjoy yoga and meditation right by the river. We had two partridges hang out at our site for two days that just wandered around and were of no nuisance. Sitting in the swing at the top of the hill we had deer wandering around us. Despite getting there after dark, the instructions to get to our site were easy and after settling in, the owner came down and greeted us with our eggs. Everything is well taken care of. We feel like we’ve found a hidden gem.

Weekend Trip to Historic Riverside Farm
We loved the campsite. It was at the edge of a very nice meadow right next to a beautiful stretch of the river. Other campsites were spaced apart nicely for privacy and the port o potty was clean. We got in late our first night and we were able to do some star gazing. I managed to catch a small fish in the river the next day. Unfortunately, when we arrived the firewood we purchased was not there. When we messaged Melissa saying our firewood was not there, we got the impression that she didn't believe us. She asked around the other campsites to see if anyone took the wood and told us that no one took it. Whatever the case, we had no wood at our site. She did eventually bring us the firewood after some confusing back-and-forth. This put a damper on an otherwise great trip.

4 nights at Historic Riverside Farm
The space is very well maintained and is beautiful. The space is clearly marked and directions are accurate. We stayed at site 5, a short walk to the river (less than a minute from the site down a gentle slope). For end of summer, it was perfect and open. For hotter months, this is just something to consider (see below regarding other sites). The tent platform had tie off points and there is a food prep area, a picnic table and a folded grill grate for cooking. We roamed the vast space and saw sites 1, 2, and 3, which are all closer to the water and also look like excellent spots with shade for summer, also well maintained. There's a bench swing at the top of the hill overlooking 1, 2, and 3 and a bench on another hill. I feel like the hosts must have done Hipcamp before and decided they were going to make their place exceptional for their guests, which they definitely did for us. Road noise was minimal and distant. Geese, ducks and heron on the river, as well as deer.

This campsite provides a great location to use as a base for day hikes. The tent site is situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. This property was formerly a farm and has since grown back to a pioneer Hardwood Forest. There are stone rows throughout the farm and some areas that have been cleared of invasive vegetation and planted with native grasses to enhance the deer population. We suggest day hikes such as Catfish Fire Tower, Van Campen's Glen, and Buttermilk Falls. Here's a list of our recommendations for hiking, fishing, and just plain old exploring: The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area (DWG) and nearby Walpack Fish and Wildlife Management Area in Layton have many hiking trails (See the National Park Service's website). Great areas for sightseeing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting. Buttermilk Falls, (trailhead on) Mountain Road in Layton. Hike to the top of the beautiful waterfalls near Walpack and take a 6.8 mile loop trail to Crater Lake. Walpack Inn, National Park Service Rd 615, Layton. A beautiful restaurant with an entire back wall of windows with a view of the Kittatinny Valley. The Walpack is open on weekends for dinner only. Appalachian Trail (AT). Check out the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center located along the trail in Blairstown. The AT runs through the DWG. \ Long Pine Pond amp; Crater Lake in Walpack. Both are spring fed and great for swimming and boating (clear water). Van Campen's Glen, Old Mine Road, Hardwick. Located 50 miles from midtown Manhattan (approx 1:08 minutes) is our brand new campsite located right off the Appalachian Trail. The camp is at the base of Wawayanda mountain right between the iconic hikes "Stairway to Heaven" and "Pochuck Boardwalk" on the Appalachian Trail. There is absolutely NO smoking of any kind allowed in the cabin. A $200 charge will be applied if you do smoke inside to cover the additional cleaning costs. No Drugs or illegal activity. No Smoking or vaping. No incense or candles. We always like our guests to know ahead of time that there is mild to moderate vehicle and foot traffic near the hiking trails during the day. As this location has become more and more popular, the individuals who come to hike, bike, fish, hunt, etc. are required to parallel park their cars on the opposite side of the road. Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. There is an established campsite at the back of the property that is a 0.18 mile walk from the end of the driveway. Or you can set up camp anywhere you’d like! This property sits off of a very quiet back round with limited traffic. This property connects to over four thousand acres of State Land that can be explored as you please. Fourteen miles of hiking trails offer magnificent views of the mountains and scenic Mountain Lake. The UACNJ Observatory at Jenny Jump is a short drive, or a nice hike, from the property where free lectures and observing are open to the public every Saturday evening from April through October. The famous Shades of Death Road and Ghost Lake are also a short drive from the campsite.
