The Penfield Tiny house is fully loaded with heat, electricity, water, shower, fridge, stove, and composting toilet. Our 8' by 30' home sits on a 2 acre field surrounded by Vermont forest...a great place to get away from the grind. Easily accessible from the road but the tree coverage blocks all views to neighbors. It's a great place to sit by the firepit, see the stars and hike the forest. A quick drive to state parks, lake Champlain, and many river holes. We are located 14 miles from Smugglers Notch Ski area, 20 miles to Burlington, and 65 miles to Montreal, if you're looking for more nightlife. *As a heads-up, our property is located in a rural area of Vermont where it's not uncommon to occasionally hear gunshots in the distance. This is generally nothing to be concerned about. We simply like to mention it in advance so there are no surprises during your stay.

Come camp on the shores of the Missisquoi River. Beautiful views of Jay Peak and Enosburg Mountain. Our campsite is set in a grove at the end of a meadow. Adjacent to the Missisquoi Recreation Trail, our site offers easy access to scenic biking and hiking, stretching 10 miles north to the Canadian border and 20 miles west to St.Albans, a great town on Lake Champlain. Due to our location on the river, you will undoubtedly see beavers, geese, ducks, blue heron and other waterfowl. If you're lucky, you might spy the family of river otters, a deer, turtles, and wild turkeys. The Enosburg Golf Course is 5 minutes away. Jay Peak Resort and Smugglers Notch are both about a 35 minute drive. Lots of mountains to climb and trails to hike within minutes. There are several local swimming holes nearby. Our location is approximately 1.5 hours to Montreal, Quebec and 1 hour to Burlington Vermont.

We have a dirt driveway and while the parking area terrain is mostly flat, it may be a little unsteady for folks with gait issues. Both our road and driveway may become quite muddy especially during “mud season”, generally in the spring. Nestled at the bottom of Laraway Mountain, Maple Rock Hollow provides a tranquil place to stay while providing easy access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Enjoy Vermont’s world-class skiing; Smuggler’s Notch (20 minutes), Jay Peak (30 minutes) and Stowe (40 minutes) are all nearby! It is surrounded by opportunities for skiing, other winter activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, numerous watering holes, zip lining, leaf peeping in season, exploring Vermont’s many covered bridges, access to nearby VAST and VASA trails, and more! Unwind from your day of adventure by enjoying the wooded setting by making smores at the fire pit under the starry sky and relax surrounded by nature, while sipping your drink of choice; perhaps a beer from one of the many local breweries Please be aware that given our rural location, our cell phone coverage is weak. Six miles west there is more reliable cell phone access. Future plans include reliable internet access.
