We supply sheets, blankets, TP, dish soap and kitchen items(silverware, plates, glasses, cookwear, etc). Potable water and firewood included. A short walk across the lawn to the outhouse. Gas lights inside. No internet so come get away from technology!
New this year! We have added a shower shed with hot water! You will now be able to take a quick shower. May through October or when the weather is above freezing at night.
Please if staying with us in the winter four wheel drive is recommended. Or front wheel drive with decent snow tires. The driveway is long and the road up to it can be tricky during winter weather. Also because of the woodstove, it might not be a good place for toddlers in the colder months.

This off the grid cozy family owned cabin is located in the town of Sunderland, Vermont. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of national forest, campers can enjoy the sounds of a swift stream flowing nearby, birds chirping in trees, and the rustling of leaves and branches in the breeze.

This is a 1920's cottage that we moved and restored. The building site is an old Charchoal mound that was in use in the 1700's so there is a lot of history between the building and site where it sits. 6 Sites are on Sunrise Farms 75 acre Conservation land with 50 mile view for Sites 1 and 2. Very quiet area with lots of wildlife and ponds and disc golf. Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites.
2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site.
Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide.
Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from.
Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear.
We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest).
- PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use).
Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids.
Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people.
In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive.
Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

We had such a wonderful stay here! The area was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and everything was incredibly clean and well maintained. The host was also fantastic—very communicative, responsive, and helpful throughout our stay. You can tell a lot of care goes into this place. Everything went well, Stephanie was there to help whenever needed, accommodations were everything you need & nothing you don't. It's "glamping" so you need your warm sleeping gear and bring stove, pots & cooking supplies. Views were great, cabin was great for two, need to find room for cots with four folks, but do-able. Great experience overall.

Weekend Trip to The Deer Crib at Flat Rock Farm
This was our 3rd annual stay at the Deer Crib. We had such a great time with our family and dogs. There’s so much for the kids to do between the field and the trails and the swamp/pond. We always have the best time unplugging and hanging out all weekend. The cabin is well stocked with all we needed to cook and be comfortable. The hosts are kind and responsive and we’re already looking forward to our visit next year!

Had a beautiful time at the Dead-themed Grateful Acres.
Stephanie is a stellar host. Warm and helpful and great with communication.
The cabin (Sunshine) is cute and the simple thoughtful touches and amenities were appreciated.
The sky was so clear, I could see the milky way. In all my living days in Vermont, I have never seen such a beautiful star-filled sky.
There was something beautiful about the way the camp is sited on a high meadow, and the way the light of the setting sun spread across the wildflowers and fields.
I was here on Labor Day weekend and while the day was warm, the night was clear and crisp, so make sure you have warmth for possible cold nights.
Enjoy your time, and make sure to enjoy a dip at nearby Somerset Reservoir.

Once again, we've had a great stay at Grateful Acres! Both nights of our stay this time saw the campground fully booked but the hosts ensure a quiet, respectful stay. As always the camp store had all we needed; fire wood was plentiful; the cabin, grounds, and outhouses/portapotty were all exceptionally clean and well maintained. We love the depth of silence and rest found on this fully off-grid campground tucked into the beautiful Vermont forest! 🥰

It’s nice and secluded. Was perfect for our two dogs. The cabin was clean and they supplied us with a lantern which came in handy in the cabin. The outhouse was clean too. The hosts answered our questions and was there if we needed anything. We were there for 5 days and the no showers were a little inconvenient, but we found public showers that were a half hour drive and stopped there after going out on hikes. Overall it was a perfect “off grid” vacation.

Purely magical hidden gem of a find.
This place existing makes Vermont even MORE special. The creativity, hard work, and craftsmanship of the Gnome Cabin is one of a kind. From the smooth walnut countertop, to the hammered copper sink, the comfy bed nook perfectly cradling you to sleep, the curated forest with a pond view and the wood carved outhouse it’s all just a very special experience. Even if you are no where near this area it’s worth building an entire trip around. We plan to next time!

Had a lovely stay at Renel’s little cabin by the river.
Would NOT have guessed it’s so close to a main road based on other reviews. That is not mentioned!
The flow of the river right beside you drowns out most of the sound but big trucks and motorcycles are easily heard. Also, the cabin is in plain view from the bridge on Harbour Rd but there is not much traffic and we never felt intruded upon.
So do not expect to be in the middle of nowhere, but we felt like there was plenty of privacy and peace.
Cabin itself is great and Renel and family are delightful. Amazing first visit to Vermont!

The first time I stayed here, I had mixed feelings. I had only camped a few times and was very spoiled by things like plumbing, TVs, internet, outlets etc.
Looking back on those “ feelings” I realized that was me getting out of my comfort zone.
I work from home, I’m inside all day everyday locked into several screens.
This camp forces you to get outside, and leave the screens behind.
Sleep in the beautifully decorated comfortable bedroom on a farm and feel like you are living inside the pages of Country Homes magazine. Wake up to the most incredible views, enjoy the delicious coffee provided and make it outside!
Shower in the lush green landscape, with a view of the mountains. Cook a meal on a fire-pit, take a walk or go on a hike. Say hello to the cows.
Lay a blanket in the grass and star gaze. Gift yourself this experience. After you do, you’ll want to return every year.

We had a great time at the Deer Crib! The cabin is very sweet, well appointed and there was even a fun outdoor shower! Our dog enjoyed exploring around the grounds and the pond. We loved the cool gas lanterns and even played a game of Yahtzee (from the many games at the crib)! We will definitely be back.

It was a bit of an awkward arrival due to Hipcamp not refunding the host and I prior to my stay. Beyond that the site was absolutely beautiful. I woke up to rabbits hummingbirds, and even a porcupine. There was a recent situation with a dog, so Tom was sure to let me know that leashes are preferred. I would say this is valuable, especially for the amazing wild life. You’ll see while camping here. The sites are private. I stayed for a week and I enjoyed Pittsfield and all the amazing hikes. I highly recommend the country store and ask someone who was coming in from camping it was really nice to be able to do laundry and such an amazing place five minutes down the road! Definitely a great place to explore! Worth staying for longer than just a night even if you’re passing through.

We had a great stay at the cabin. Rebecca was a responsive host and the space was perfect for us and our two dogs. The cabin was spacious and clean. The dogs appreciated how dog friendly it was (bowls, poop bags, a treat jar, a comfy dog bed, etc) and the site was peaceful.
