With Horses , goats , chickens , ducks , mules, donkeys , other livestock . We have no pets and no livestock. At night this is dark ( we do have solar lights on walk ways ) and it is peaceful. Native people have lived in this valley for close to 20,000 years more . The Rio Grande is very close by ( 2 miles west of us ) bike or by car . We are close to route 40 and route 25, just 7 mins. away . There is a Food Co-op with in a 5 mins. drive . And a regular store and gas within one mile of our place. Great little house with all of the basic amenities someone looking for a place not too rustic would love. Harvey was extremely friendly, and gave us any and all of the privacy we could want. The dirt roads are pretty bumpy, so if you come in a standard height car take it slow.

A great retreat into the mountains. We hiked from the cabin and also drove to and hiked in Valles Caldera. Magical location. Beds were very comfortable. Cabin amenities were good. Just take care driving on the unpaved road up to the cabin. Stay center when possible to avoid ditches on the right.

Beautiful views and quiet. Quirky property with a cemetery (campsite is behind it near the edge of the mesa). The road to the site is rough and definitely requires higher clearance and 4WD/AWD. We made it up slowly in our electric mid-size SUV, not without a few sketchy bumps underneath. I couldn’t imagine a sedan having great success up the road (big rocks, big dips and eroded areas, and mud in areas after a rain). Just FYI!

The Edge was such a fun and funky place to stay! It’s about 1.5 miles from town so is quiet and up on the mesa—great for sunsets. The Land of the Dead was a nice treat as well, make sure to spend time there, looking at all the graves. Kim was a very gracious host, communicable and kind. Would stay here again!

Jen’s cabin was perfect for a quick escape from the dust! The smell of the pine trees as we opened the car door on arrival was fabulous, and the cabin had everything we needed for a relaxing overnight retreat. We brought blankets with us and made a bed under the stars for the AMAZING night sky; even saw a shooting star, the sky was so clear. Enjoyed reading Jen’s memoirs of the time and work she and Zac have put into the place. We would definitely come back.
